Cyberpunk 2077 - Your Ideas For A Dream RPG

What I want, what I dream about, is ....

1. 3rd person perspective as default. By all means give us a first person perspective option, but the default should be 3rd person. When its done the other way around, like in the Fallout games, the character just looks goofy when they move, especially when they run or strafe. Plus, 3rd person allows me to see my awesome character.

2. Character Customization on par with Saints Row 2. (Gender, race, body type, face customization, tattoos, scars, layered clothing with many choices). Let me create my own character, a unique character, and do no limit my choices. The world of Cyberpunk is a melting pot of races and cultures. If you plan to include voices, limit it to two, one male, one female, speaking without discernable accent. If variety in voices is necessary, give us a tool to change the pitch of the voices.

2b) Customization differences by zone. For instance, in most of the city you would have standard options. Normal and edge wear clothes, but in Nomad areas the clothing would be leathers and football pads, the mad max/Fallout look. In a Corporate Section the clothing stores would offer suits and high end fashion.

2c) In addition to character appearance, it would be necessary to give us options that reflect the Roles. Solo's, Nomads, Medtechs, Fixers, etc... Roles should merely provide bonuses to certain skills. Players should be able to choose a Primary Role, but should be able to assign points to all the others as they see fit, as well as to skills. In addition, the Primary Role chosen should have an effect on how the story unfolds. The missions of the game remain the same, only for people with different roles, the order in which they come, and the objectives of the mission itself changes. For instance, if you are playing a Netrunner, one mission might have you trying to infiltrate a drug deal, using your hacking skills to record the entire thing for black mail. But if you are playing a Cop, your objective is to arrest the main dealer. Or if you are playing a Solo, your job is to protect the dealer from the cops who bust in. Or if you are playing a Nomad, you are the getaway driver for the dealer. The missions are all the same, but why you are there and what you are doing would change depending on your role and choices within the game. That way, even though the missions are exactly the same in subsequent play-thrus, it will always feel unique. Imagine how interesting this could get in a co-op style game?

2d) I also kind of like the idea that the Primary Role you choose might determine where you start the game... say if you are a Solo, you first appear at the airport, coming back from a job. If you are a Cop, you appear at the precinct. If you are a Nomad, you first appear outside the city and have to drive in...

2e) An OPTIONAL lifepath would also be nice, a randomly generated history for your character that may influence the way some NPC's react with you, maybe have an enemy that keeps randomly spawning and coming after you in the game, creates an event or encounter in the game, or maybe opens up options to your early.

2f) how awesome it would be if at various stages of the game, you could save a "character sheet" to the hard drive (if playing on a console), then transfer it to your PC and print it off. Or even be able to do it in reverse, take your favorite character, and input his stats and skills and lifepath in the game... maybe as a bonus that unlocks after you have beaten the game. That way you could truly merge the video game and the Pen and Paper game. .

3. Cybernetic options, several types of limbs, eyes, tech hair, glow tattoos, etc.... These should be cosmetic choices, and each one should give you at least the option of changing its colors. Any benefits cyber gives you, like being stronger, running faster, jumping higher, etc... should be a separate thing... and should work whether you have visible cyber or not.... because hey, just like the chick in the video, some of us real-skin our cyber sometimes. This way it won't eat up system limitations, and its an easy way to give us cake and let us eat it too.

4. It's a near future open world/sandbox game. There needs to be a decent assortment of vehicles, bikes, cars, trucks, boats, aircraft (especially Aerodynes), that we can drive, keep, and customize. This, like the character customization, is one of those things that will keep me playing a game long after I have completed every thing else. Getting the vehicles I want, looking just the way I want them. And one small request... please for the love of god, give us a tool to arrange the garage ourselves... just a simple "move up/down" command would be enough. Above all other vehicles, we need a bad ass recumbent bike, like the one from Akira, and we need a Mad Max type muscle car... for the nomads you see...

4b) Again, customization differences by zone, but for vehicles. For instance, in most of the city you would have the standard vehicle customizations. Things like colors, adding spoilers or different body options,speed/handling upgrades, window tinting, underglow whatever... But in nomad areas you would have those options plus things like adding steel plates, brush bars, barb wire trim... a rusted or dirty paint job. In a corporate section you get armor plating that doesn't change the outward appearance of the vehicle, bulletproof glass, maybe some James Bond gadgets.

5. An explorable world at least the size of San Andreas or Fallout New Vegas, with a huge ass city, and outside the city diverse terrain like San Andreas or RDR. Night City is enormous, but I hate in games where the map is just an island that is all city... there needs to be some desert wasteland at least... Because Nomads need to be represented in the game. Some people claim a bigger map is boring, I do not understand those people and believe something is wrong with them. I don't ever want to get tired of this world. However the world does also need to be explorable, enterable buildings, rooftop access, secret hideouts, all that good stuff.

5b) A proper sandbox is a world you never want to leave, even after the story is done. It must be heavily populated, it must feel alive. It must be more than just an arena to shoot things. The population has to feel like they are more than just pixels on a screen... and make you feel like part of a bigger world.

6. A variety of weapons would also be good, some people like semi auto handguns, others like revolvers. Some people like to go melee, others like to go full on Rambo. Some martial arts would also be cool... hopefully something like Sleeping Dogs.

7. One or more overarching stories as the main driving force of the game, the story should be something we can get emotionally invested in. Cyberpunk needs a story that goes beyond being an excuse for the next killing spree. But beyond that there need to be just a ton of smaller story quests. The game should never feel linear. It should never feel like you are on rail road tracks. The main story lines are always there, but there should be plenty more to keep you busy. And mission replay is a must.

7b) What would really be nice, is if after you beat the game, you could play it again without losing all your stuff. Sure you may not have access to it until you again unlock your various properties, but its all there when you do.

7c) The truth is, there is no hard set in stone way to run Cyberpunk 2020. Some people want to keep it very Gibsonesque. Others want more of an Appleseed or Ghost In The Shell feeling. Some people want Robocop, others want Mad Max. Some people, myself included, want it all. The reality is, Cyberpunk is nothing more than a setting. It's near future, dystopic but not post post apocalyptic, at least not totally. Advanced tech, but with the same old problems we live with every day. It's a world that is wholly relatable if not necessarily believable, and yet somehow foreign and strange all at the same time. That's what you have to capture as far as atmosphere goes.

8. Choices within the story... they don't have to necessarily mean anything mechanically, though its nice when they do... but give us a choice how things proceed. Maybe I want to kill the target, maybe I want to let him live. Either way, its my character, let me have some say in how it unravels. Heck maybe it influences the way people react to me, how much vendors charge and what not... System limitations will definitely factor in to how much of an overall difference my choices make, I understand that... including different dialog options based on choices for everything could be a major hassle... But you should be allowed to play out the character according to the personality you give want for him.

8b)The story shouldn't be some huge save the world thing... it shouldn't even be save the city. It should be more personal, more gutter. Sure you might ascend to that lofty glass and steel tower apartment... but no matter how badass your character is, how wealthy, how much crap he acquires, or what direction you take him, he should still feel like a small but hungry fish in a big pond.

9. Online CO-OP play... 4 players would be perfect, but even with just two it would be fine. To be honest I do NOT want multi-player, it wastes game resources and just never really seems to add anything. There are a ton of Shooters people can multi-play, many even have cyberpunk themes. But not every game needs them. Getting rid of Multi-player altogether to focus on c-op was one of the very few things Saints Row 3 did that I agreed with.

Ok well I started reading all the posts... then gave up after 3 pages lol

LOTS OF INCREDIBLE IDEAS guys! Keep it up!

As for what I'd like to see:

-Classes with very distinctive stories. A few overlapping missions are ok... but not too many!
-Mature-bordering-adult stuff. I want this cyberpunk game to be GRITTY AS F*CK lol Throw in romance quests, where some end up making you new enemies (sleeping with a gangster's girl, etc)
-A 3rd person game (not big on 1st person... if I customize my character's looks, I want to see them!
-Ability to change up my appearance whenever I want (new haircut, makeup, piercings, etc)
-A score that is ambient like Solar Fields' work in Mirror's Edge, dramatic like Daft Punk's Tron: Legacy stuff, and action packed like Michael McCann's Deus Ex: HR pieces. Don't forget Vangelis' Blade Runner sound!
-Licensed music from unknown industrial/electronic artists. If i am to truly believe it is 2077, I don't want to hear music I know! I have to be able to believe it is from the future!
-Did I mention customization?
-TONS of side-quests to keep me busy outside of the story
-A populated world! TONS of people walking around. I want to BE a part of the future
-Interaction and activities. I want to go to the market to buy food for my apartment so I can eat. I want to go shoot pool with my buddies. I want to sit at a dimly lit bar and chat up the girl next to me.

Ok I've got a lot of wants... so I'll stop there lol

FOR NOW:p

Y'know, the last time I really felt the ATMOSPHERE in an RPG was Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. That game oozed its source material! It's dated but god damn that game kept me coming back, and I STILL play it!

I would like to see this game to be a bit more mature than most other games. I'm not sure what kind of game this will be (like an mmorpg or what), but I hope to see multiplayer capability through most of the game as well. So far, from what I've seen and read, you guys look very professional and capable of making a ground breaking game. I absolutely love rpg games, and I love making awesome characters that are unique and interesting.

A few things that would be cool, in my opinion:

- Some awesome free running movement options to get around the city, with fluid animations. (I am an animator for video games so I get kinda picky with that.)

- Lots of choices for our character that revolve around who they are. Such as attitude, morality, aspirations, and priorities (kinda the same).

- Lots of weapon choices and combinations that help reflect who our character is. Maybe a katana/pistol combo, rifle, claws, tech, gadgets, implants, the list can go on forever. Basically, the more choices the better, but don't sacrifice quality. But I'm sure you know that.

- Relationship choices. The Witcher and Mass Effect come to mind, but maybe you guys can go beyond those and improve upon them.

- A type of home or living space for our character to live in. Possibly with upgrades.

- Some type of training system where our character can train physically, or study his tech or whatever. I just like seeing our character actually train rather than clicking a button that applies skill points and watching my stat numbers raise.

- Try to avoid using a lot of mocap as a means to an end, please. I can imagine some really nice, subtlety stylized animations that would add a lot of flare to this game and make it beautiful.

What I want part 2....

10. these aren't as important, but I would love to see them implemented as well. In no particular order....

10b) Damage induced need for cybernetic replacement on the hardest difficulty level. Not sure how exactly you would go about this... but in most games I have run, few characters start out with much in the way of cyber. Most start with none and many strive to keep it that way. The number one reason people start getting cyber in my games is because they get the meat parts shot up beyond repair. I mean there is always the choice to get cyber at any point if the player chooses, but having a system where limbs are blown off or made "gimpy" sounds pretty good to me.

10c) A complete skyscraper you can explore, assault...ok maybe not the whole thing, but enough of one that feels..chunky. I remember going through the sears tower in Parasite Eve, and loving the idea of it. It didn't really have anything to do with the story or the game, it was just there, and it was awesome.

10d) Garages your co-op partner(s) can enter... because when you customize your rides, you want to show them off. And the ability to trades rides with each other, maybe outfits as well.

11. What I do NOT want in the game... in no particular order...

11a) Technology that is too advanced - especially in terms of personal weapons. Part of what makes the game so gritty is the idea that for the most part, things work almost the same as they do now, it makes the game relatable, while also making it foreign and exotic... and dangerous. In a game like this, the guns should feel familiar. Bullet firing, maybe some special ammo, maybe some minor tweaks... but over all the same. GITS: SAC understood this... even Cowboy Bebop, which had some ridiculous levels of tech involved with space travel, understood this. Lasers existed but were ultra-rare and ultra expensive. Reading through the Firestorm books, detailing the corporate wars, some of the tech got ridiculously overpowered. Now granted, this was for the super high tech, heavily funded 4th Corporate war, and it made sense for that. But overall the 2020 tech level for personal weapons was about perfect. I am just throwing up a reminder that the feel of cyberpunk is a very tenuous thing, and it gets hard to maintain if the day to day tech gets too far advanced... there is a point where it looks less like Cyberpunk, and more like Star Trek. Other than that, as I have said, it makes sense to move the timeline further ahead. It allows the advancements of the tech already present in the game to actually become commonplace, Cybernetics, full conversions... it allows them to exist and have legacy without trying to explain how they got so commonplace in such a very short period of time.

11c) I don't want to play a game like Deus Ex, where I can see cars, I can jump up and down on them, but I can't enter them and drive them around. I don't want to see a huge city, but be confined to 2 blocks of it by a 3 foot high barrier. I don't want to see AV's flying around and not be able to pilot them, take em back to my pad and store em for later use.

11d) I don't want to see anything in the game, be it guns, outfits, vehicles, whatever, that I can't, if I choose, grab for myself. Doesn't mean it has to be easy, hell it can be pretty much suicidal to even try... but the option needs to be there. These things need to be possible, no matter how improbable.

11e) I don't want a game that is just over when the storyline is done. If I can't still run around the world and explore it, I won't even bother to buy the game.

11f) I don't want a save the world game. Because that's not what Cyberpunk 2020 is about. It can be, if you want to run that game. It can be anything if that's what you want to run... but Cyberpunk 2020 is about the streets of the near future... its about trying to claw your way out of the gutter, and hopefully survive long enough to make your mark. And, as the Chrome books, Max Metal, and several other books prove, its also about toys and style.

11g) I absolutely DO NOT WANT aliens, super powers, zombies, fantasy crap, supernatural nonsense, psionics, or jother ust plain goofy shit like freeze rays and chicken guns... This is Cyberpunk, not Shadowrun.

As the owner/author of Datafortress 2020, and the driving force behind the Interlock Unlimited project (a re-write of the original CP2020 rules) I may be expecting more than possibly can be delivered, but I have been waiting for this game for 20 years, and now technology has advanced to the point where all of the above is possible. Any assistance I can give I will be happy too.

I wish I could take a direct role in its development myself, and I have put in my application CDPR, but I am content in the knowledge that at the very least CDPR is listening to us, taking our concerns and dreams into consideration... it seems they understand that this game is as important to us that it turns out right, as it is to them and the Pondsmith's. It's not often you find a game with as loyal a fanbase as Cyberpunk 2020...Its been over ten years since there was a new 2020 release, And yet here we are... chomping at the bit off the merest possibility of what this game could be, and what it could mean for our favorite RPG as well...

Oh, and I want one last thing.... I want Mike Pondsmith to be a major voice in the game, the narrator for the game itself if possible... if not, then some mentor role would be ideal... like your favorite Fixer.

I see potential in this game, and I hear it's coming to consoles which would be massively nice!

I'd like to see some of the following:
The option to play as a woman.
Lots of clothes so one can look good while playing as a guy or woman. Hairstyles, and attention to hair would be appreciated, too.
I'd be really excited if this game were to come to consoles with high character customization.

Something a lot of games fail to do is create a good post game/new game plus, then they probably ended up traded in, or gathering dust. I think an open world game needs things to do when the story is done, and after the credits roll. Things to do when there's no more enemies to shoot in the name of plot, there's nothing else to spend money on, there's simply nothing left to do but putter around the city, and mess around.

What I suggest for solutions are great deals of interaction with the world. Minigames, clubbing, drinking, drugs, hanging out with people (Co-op would be great with this), vegging out, chilling, relationships. With relationships, be bold with it! Have as many options as you dare! LGBT, multiple, cheating on people, etc. Meaningful relationships between characters is not done often in games.
It's probably silly, but the inability to even sit down in a chair is annoying to me.

Random events to help give people things to do are helpful, too. Especially with a variety of natures, and those random events have optional participation. Beat up muggers, loan someone cash, track down someone who's wronged you, fight clubs, assassinate random targets across the open world, help a person move to a new apartment, be a catburglar, mugger, perform more general criminal acts, whatever. Something to do outside of the main plot, beyond the main plot will add replay value which makes games worth it!

Exploration is a nice thing to have. As many buildings as possible should be avaliable for exploration! Even a shotgun spread of open buildings across the map with things to do in them would make the world feel more real, and alive! Few things kill the vibe of a living breathing world as much as interesting places that you simply can't enter, or interact with, IMO.

The environment, the way you interact with it, and the way you spend time in it can kinda make or break a game over the long term for me.

Variety in character personalities can go a long way, too. A lot of protagonists act within a certain range of personalities, not just in games, but in movies. Any way to get out of the box in the usual hero syndrome would be appreciated!

Another suggestion I have towards making the world feel more alive is something of an economy. Try and prevent people from being absurdly rich by the end of the game with no choice but to accumulate money because they bought everything. Luxuries, maintenance, upgrades, and such can help keep a person hungry for more cash. I don't feel it should be a total drag trying to keep cash coming, and make a living, though.

New game plus, as I mentioned earlier would be -awesome-, I'd say. The ability to replay the game as an end game power house, or get closer to being the end game powerhouse because one playthrough just isn't enough adds some extra drive to at least give the game one more go.

Yeah, I focused a lot on desires towards the environment, but I'm sure a lot of people covered mechanics well enough. :p
Besides, one of the most magical things about Pen and Paper games is the freedom, and flexibility it offers. The environment, and how one can use that space from LARPing to imagination to text, to figures on a map, and more is what puts them above most videogames.

I guess that's my two cents. :p

Dinosaurs. Cyberpunk dinosaurs.

They would be lovely.

T-Rex arm augmentation with huge melee benefits, but gun handling downside. Not too far from the realm of possibility. :p

I liked what The Witcher 2 did in terms of mutations of skill benefits, so maybe something along those lines with augmentations. However, the twist could be that certain manufacturers may have different unknown (or known) reactions when different parts are used together. They could be positive emergent effects, like boosting resistances, or negative effects like humanity draining mutations.

Drug use. Why not? I see games like Deus Ex, GTA, and Saints Row where they have different drugs (mostly alcohol) you use with different effects. But how about something longterm? Say, your character can take a certain drug in the game that increases his awareness and reflexes, but with long term use, you will have to upgrade your liver and pancreas. Case from Neuromancer had an issue with drugs, affecting his performance. I'm not saying make the give the user the ability to have a heroin addict or something, but I want to see neuro-enhancing drugs in the game that has it's pros and cons when you use them, not just a bottle of alcohol that gives you a bit of health and makes you dizzy.

1. I want the NPC's to react to every major thing that I do. I want to be able to tell the Cyberpunk equivalent of Triss, Zoltan, and Dandelion that I've gone here or done that or killed this person or learned that bit of news, and they'll have something to say about it all.

2. I want to be able to name my saved games. Developers were able to make this happen for players a dozen years ago, so it shouldn't be out of your reach currently .:p

3. I want a choice of top-down or over-the-shoulder camera, because over-the-shoulder makes me motion sick.

4. I want to be able to pause the game for real, like long enough to walk up a flight of stairs, visit what my husband calls The Most Important Room In The House, walk back downstairs, snag an apple from the kitchen, return to my game, and it'll still be paused. ;)

5. I want there to be some sympathetic characters in the game, some people that I enjoy knowing. Every game needs villains, or at least antagonists, and the dark worlds that CDPR specializes in will always have a lot of nasty folks. But please don't make EVERYBODY an asshole. Give me people to care about.

6. But most of all, I want CDPR's signature mixture of fascinating story, interesting characters, meaningful choices, and morally consequential decisions. That's why I'm here. ;)

A small list of what I think would make this RPG just right for me.

1. Customization means a lot to me in role-playing games, both visual and stats. I should be able to play as both male and female.
2. Turn based combat ruins both flow and immersion I really hope they won't include this, real-time please.
3. I don't have to say anything about the art-style, it's already awesome.
4. Dialogue system like Witcher, Kotor, and ME-series (which I believe will be a part of the game, but I felt I should put it in the list anyway).
5. A place to call home, an apartment, trailer sewer, whatever. A player base where you can just chill out take a breather and enjoy the view. Also store items.
6. Augmentations should be expensive, if corporations rule the world they would make sure that their products are profitable and expensive. Making them hard to get would also make them more special.
7. Alternatives to combat. Stealth and Diplomacy or something. (Witcher 2 spoiler) I loved how you didn't even have to fight the big guy at the end, just walk away.
8. NPCs to care about. One of the best examples in gaming is Alyx from Half-Life 2, first time I saw her die I was shocked.
9. Make me feel like I'm a part of the game world by interacting with objects, whether they're ping-ball machines jukeboxes or computers.
10. Really make me feel like I'm at the bottom in the beginning of the game.

Character Customization is really important to me. I want to be able to choose
1 My gender
2 My body type
3 My Race
4 The way I dress
5 My voice
6 Scars and Tattoo's
7 My background
8 The mods I have, and can take later.

I also want to see a really well written story with dialogue choices, and character classes. If I can get those things I'd be very happy.

when i hear cyberpunk iam hopping the game will have to do some thing with the shadowrun series i have grown up with that was on the snes and sega genesis console on the del ray novels. There was one on segacd but that was a japanese import only. I am hoping that there will be different factions that will affect diffrent classes. classes such as:
- street samurai : class that uses cyber implants to boost strength and abilities to use such gun or melee weapons, to be faster into dodging, etc.....
- decker class: a computer hacker type that can hack the matrix to get information that would help in his story or for a job to earn credits.
- shaman: several different types that would give them magic abilities depending what totem animal they will follow.

i have been waiting for a game that would follow the world to shadowrun or similar like the movie "johnny mnemonic" with Keanu Reeves.... also i would like to point out the different street gangs, and organizations . they had simple hacker gangs, the Yakuza, Government organizations, Corporate Intelligence Agencies, etc...... please do make this similar to this world. i have been waiting ever since the 32 bit era..... I was truly disappointed in the 2007 shadowrun game that turned out to be a fps when it should have been an open world rpg.....
thank you for your time ^^

Romances are always fun, either they be one night stand like the ones you find in the witcher or serious relationships.

If there are going to be any serious relationships in the game, it would be fun if your enemies took your girl/boyfriend as hostage and you have to save them (would have to happen rarely, we don't want any of that "WANT TO GO BOWLING COUSIN?!" like in GTAIV)

Agreed. I always like getting hookers in GTA lol then taking them out after. Relationships in the game would be different and unique.

when i hear cyberpunk iam hopping the game will have to do some thing with the shadowrun series
You should REALLY familiarize yourself with the genre; I think you'd enjoy it a lot. =) If not for Cyberpunk (as a genre,) Shadowrun wouldn't exist!

Some authors:

- William Gibson
- Bruce Sterling
- Walter Jon Williams

and a tip o' the hat to Neal Stephenson, for Snow Crash.

Widescreen Options. Really widescreen, like 4720 and up. By 2015, I'd expect a lot of you have at least 27" monitors or multi-monitors.

Hard Mode with no UI unless augmented for it.

- According to me, a rpg should be played in co-op.

- No instant heal and plz don't let trauma teams fly out of nowhere. Play smart or get owned.

- Ohh your left arm is useless? Better drop that rifle and go for something lighter.

- You know that this flash (speed) you're on might keep you up a few more days. But eventually, the drawbacks are gonna kick in. And it won't be pretty.

- Please, don't let everybody carry excessive amount of equipment. And if a weapon or object isn't concealable, we should be able to see it and npc react to it. Don't you just hate it when someone pops out a horse from his little pocket and runs off?

- You know what? After a few days, my beard starts to grow. And after a night out or a run, a shower should not be an option (or else it's gonna screw with your interactions with others).

- Going offline? Fine, but your character stays online, as a npc kinda. Mostly staying home. Or better, before going offline, check a few items on a "to do list".
☐ Call Marla back "Sorry for last night"
☑ Get an appointment to fix that Mr Stud
☐ pickup groceries
☑ shave
☐ gym
☑ play instrument
☑ find a fixer to fence that Kendachi's exec cyberdeck

- NPC's... you know would be fun an innovative? If, we the players, or even peeps who don't own the game, could log on as a guest in a random npc, with limited actions available. Like driving around and running over a red light and getting pulled over, dancing in a club, using emotes, etc

- Some quests or contracts would only be given to you via personal contacts. Up to you to gather your crew.

- Your reputation should really matters and unlock different quests and opportunities.
- "Words on the streets his that you have been a solid and loyal soldier for the Yakuza this last year heh? But i got a Mr Johnson on the line, and he's ready to drop a fat credstick if you're able to see pass all of this. You know, it's not really a hit against the Yakz, but against one san that hasn't been able to keep his words. We.. well, he, needs someone from the inside. And you might be that guy. Wanna meet him?"
- That last run was really messy and all the medias are on it. Better lay low chummy cause that sketch of you on the holoscreen is pretty accurate.

- Custom character creation. Appearance, wardrobe, been able to create our own emotes, lifestyle (coffin hotels, the streets, a nice flat).

- Use the fan's ideas to keep new quests coming.

- Skills should only progress if used, praticed or studied.

What I would want? Witcher 2 style game play with guns and a character creation system, allowing us to be anything (within the setting's limits of course) we want.

Other than that, guys, surprise me.

I'm a big lover of unintended consequences, where a 'good' option presented to you earlier ends up having very bad unintended consequences.

For instance, normally you have the option of, say, taking the life of a guard to a building. You have to come up with a way of killing this person and removing or leaving the body etc. Alternatively you can talk your way into the building or find another route. However the difference is, the choice then changes what happens next. if you kill the guard and dont hide the body, the guards will be alarmed etc. later on you may come across a church where the family of this guard are mourning, which could then open more choices and so on. if you talk your way in or find another route, the residents of the building wont know of your presence or you could get the guards keycard by sweet talking, this could then allow easier access to the rooms and such. We want to make the player sit and think before acting. Do I kill this person? it might be easier now but could raise issues later.

But instead, I like morally ambiguous choices in the game, not just (Like above) Evil = Quick reward now but bad later and Good = Harder Now but more helpful later, like that guard (for instance) could have been abusive to his family and if they found out it was you that killed him instead gave you some kind of reward for doing so, or if you choose not to kill the guard you come across the funeral for his family that he brutally murdered, those are the sort of choices I love in a game.

Trust me, they have this angle covered.

Slimgrin's right. There's a choice in the first Witcher game where the player makes the choice in Chapter 1, and the consequences don't become clear until Chapter FOUR, twenty or so playing hours later. So CDPR doesn't make the kind of game where you can make a choice, see the consequence, and reload if you don't like the consequence.

The choices are usually between lighter and darker shades of gray, rather than between black and white. And the choice that looks light gray to some looks dark gray to others, so even the choice that seems obviously more moral to some players seems obviously less moral to others.

For example, in the first Witcher game, there's an ongoing conflict between a group of elven and dwarven separatists and a group of religious fanatics. The non-humans are being oppressed, so a lot of people side with them. But they use the methods of terrorists, so a lot of people side against them. The religious fanatics have the authority of the government behind them, so a lot of people side with them, as the "legitimate" authority. But the government is oppressing its own citizens and even killing some of them, so a lot of people side against them, seeing them as the greater evil.

No one's hands are clean here, and the players split pretty much 50-50 as to which side they think is "obviously" morally superior.

Yeah, no worries. You'll have your morally ambiguous choices, no problem. :D

I become paranoid when I hear "MMO' or something like that.
Single Player all the way, I must have clocked in over 100 hours in TW2 but of course in multiple playthroughs.
I wish I would be able to do atleast half of it in a single one, seeing as this is going to be a vast sci-fi 'epic'

It would be great if, for such an ambitious and futuristic title, part of the game world could be played and controlled via mobile devices. I'm not talking about Facebook/other social networking sites. I'm referring to straight up having an app extension for it where you can log in, take control of an NPC of choice, and perform their linear tasks. The player would be able to customize them in superficial aspects. The difference between a shell NPC and a controlled NPC could be that the controlled NPC's dialog could be directly controlled by a player. Shell NPCs can have their own default script.

I'm just thinking that an extension like this could be a separate experience in itself while still participating in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. For a better idea of what I'm talking about, I strongly recommend checking out the movie Gamer, starring Gerard Butler. I fell in love with some of the concepts they present in there.
