Cyberpunk 2077 - Your Ideas For A Dream RPG

We want the Cyberpunk 2077 to be the best RPG possible. Feel free to share your ideas and features that you would like to see in our upcoming game.

We want to hear your input:)

Dzień dobry Marcin.

I gotta say, when I found out about Cyberpunk 2077, I was pretty happy. I'm a huge Blade Runner fan, and I'm also into classical futurist and speculative fiction - Philip K. Dick, Frankenstein, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley.

The Cyberpunk world is hugely important, as many gamers these days are really just interested in experiencing a different world to the one they're in, even a different time. The two major points to gamers is the quality of the world, and the freedom to be themselves in the world.

I've been introduced to a hundred worlds since the late 80's, and all of them present their own level of interaction and freedom. Historically, games are a gauntlet to run. These days, games are more of a parallel life. Red Dead Redemption 2 looks incredible, but I'm not looking forward to having to interrupt my gaming experience just to feed and bath some middle-aged man. On the other hand, when I'm thrust into the underworld of Bioshock, then given a wrench to bludgeon to death someone I've never met, have no real motivation to so, and no experience in the game story, or life, I feel like I've been forced into gameplay that's not me, and therefore not rewarding, or maybe just satisfying. The world was incredibly mysterious, but I was forced to become a murderer with no depth, instead of an Indiana Jones of some sort.

I'm not expecting Cyberpunk '77 to be perfect, or a second life, because it's a current generation game that has its limits. But I would like to point out at that the world you create is extremely valuable, and the freedoms you give gamers to be who they want, and at their own pace, is most of what it means to buy into a game of this scope.

Me, personally, I'm of the classical libertarian branch of socio-political economic thinking - Keep what you earn, don't take what's not yours, don't take a life, and don't tread on me, or I will defend myself. I know this philosophy doesn't fit into most FPS games, because most of them are developed for the body of the gamers, which are mostly bloodthirsty pirates really, the total opposite. But again, you've created a world, which means you don't need to force people against their personal philosophy to enjoy it, or even the very same elements that alternative ideologies do. For example, being a benevolent person, I would not be interested in stealing something, or taking someone's life to test out my guns, but if I'm robbed of my necessities, I will have to get them back, and in such a way that is formally benevolent, followed with a consequence, right through to me dishing out that consequence upon denial. Additionally, if I see androids of some sort, who also appear to be bent on piracy and murder, then I will be inclined to destroy them. But if other androids are humane, or the property of someone else, then I will leave them be. Androids in this case are neither always or never a target, based on their ability to be humane. If in another case, an android is not owned by someone else, but is dangerous, I will endeavour to control and reprogram it, as my philosophy is to project humanity onto other things, that they may too act humanely. Because me being unnecessarily inhumane in society means that I am trending negatively. There's no sitting on the fence. Both the pirate and the libertarian will use mechanisms of destruction, but while one uses them for theft, the other uses them for defence.

All I'm saying really is that I hope to enjoy the world of Cyberpunk 2077 as myself, a libertarian type, represented by V.

-Advanced character customization. I'm sure it's been brought up but here's my take;
Not only for face, hair and for skin but for body as well including tattoos scars.
.Unique style for each piece of gear.
.Costumes show appearance over gear settings ex Black Desert(easier system to use but doesn't always seperate costumes)or in WOW.

If the game does have an online MMORPG version-
-Musicians/bands/DJs for example to be guests in the night clubs see Second Life, Anarchy Online.

-Unique Night clubs and bars
.Catered to certain music styles over all or by night.
.Interaction within them- talk with NPCs, motions of drinking(even play games darts or pool). Being able to dance with different styles.

-Customization shops ie salon, tattoo, other shops on top of likely plans for cybernetic appliances.

-People seem to always want housing in MMORPGS if the game then does an online multiplayer option, can see ow those might benefit community wise(group meet ups), and player wise(benefits from items for ex-see Black Desert)
.That's where guilds come into play of course.

-With weather optimization add in warnings systems maybe for acid rain.

-I also like the suggestion seen it's seen brought up in a separate thread of mechanics similar to CP20/20 if not the same as best as it can be carried over.

I've given plenty of "dream RPG" suggestions in regards to CP2077. And that discussion is going forward as we speak.

But, what I'd like to actually do is.... in case that CP2077 gets wildly successful and if CDPR thinks it worthwhile to offer smaller spinoffs (like Gwent, Thronebreaker, Witcher Adventure for Withcer 3)... figure an outline for such a case - a A or AA game - that tries to hit the existing niche for oldschool RPG's, but with a bit of a differing take than just updating the graphics of an oldschool concept. That'd really be a "dream RPG" stuff for me.

But that's looking too much ahead of time.

"Dream RPG", oh man...

1. Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Character Customization (what it already looks like is great though!). I want to spend over an hour customizing my character(s).

2. Make the players' home important. Like most games there's no point in having a home because you just roam around day and night doing jobs anyway. I want to feel like it's important.

3. Underwater missions? Idk, I always enjoy those.

4. I want a squad. Maybe like a gang system that you can get later on in the game, but I want to get a team of mercs, netrunners, etc. and send them on missions for me. It's probably too much to ask for them to be available to take on missions with me. Still, I want a squad.

5. Cool Clothes.

Play Sims then, lol.

Skill based melee I'm talking you move your mouse in the the direction of your swing not preset up middle down arrows and you block by learning how the opposing character moves and matching blocks/parries with matching mouse movement.

Mixed in with shooting and magic pvp. Multiplayer of course with base building and a permadeath-survival factor. The less RNG the better. Base building, mounts, jetpacks, gliders, motorcycles boats steampunk airships and mech oriented body suits for hell drops... uhmmmm. I'm sure there's more but if you can get those my soul and wallet are yours.

Is there possibly a flying mechanic for the character..?? Would be cool to explore Night City in a more free and fluidic manner and might be something different to experience in FPP..!!

Random Encounters

Type: Gang
You raided a gang's hide out - they sent out thugs to take you out
Some gang is in the middle of a job - you can ignore it, help them OR stop them!
Some gang member is holding up a dude in an alley - you can ignore it or stop him
Rival gangs are fighting each other in a side street - you can ignore it, help a side, or take them both out.
You notice a car chase in action - you can stop the fleeing car, maybe take what they stole. OR ask for a reward.
You get held up by a gang member - you can give him your money or show him he messed with the wrong guy/girl
OR follow him back to his hide out and take everything. Get played sir.

Type: Corporation
(Some of these are going to require a net runner to get info for them)
You find out some corp is abducting low income people off the streets to perform human experiments - you can investigate OR try to blackmail them
Perhaps some corp's newly developed AI robots go rogue - you can help dispatch them or just watch them destroy stuff
You get info on some nice corp tech that's being convoyed - you can steal it yourself or sell the info. If you sell the info, the group you sell it to will attempt to ambush the convoy. This opens up a myriad of options: If you stop this group, you can get some more cash from that corp from helping them, or you can let the group you sold the info to do all the hard work, then finish them off and take the tech for yourself. In this scenario you maximize your potential earning but there's a lot more risk of it backfiring.

Let's say some corp realizes you played them, they send out a squad to take you down - good luck surviving my friend.

There's so many possibilities for random encounters and they will really bring your world to life. I'd be honored if you guys used some of my ideas! :):)

Fron the Sexy guns thread:

#2
Wishing we get lots of customization options and engraving for weapons since in this world style and superficiality reigns (ehem.. Style over substance. Don't tell me you didn't hear it before). I would like to see customization options much more complex than in RDR2.

[Lots of guns photos]

Put some of the best examples I found on the web. Although I would like to see this not only on pistols and revolvers but on all kinds of weapons (even melee weapons) and not only engravings (probably premade so engravings alluding to V, Night City and even California and USA like in the photos would be incredible) but all kinds of customization options (ex: insert text in weapons with different typographies and sizes like in some of the photos above, that would be a very good option), even ones we've never seen before (since it's in the future).
PLEASE CDPR.

From the Gambling in Night City? thread:

I would love if we could have one or two casinos fully represented in the game. Imagine that, a cyberpunk casino. How would that be? I think it should be even more ruthless in trying to make you play (and lose) money and use all the avaible technology in it's favor to accomplish that.

I would quite like to see an appearance from Gaunter O'Dimm. An unassuming yet mysterious character named Walt Paddock who will provide information in exchange for services.

From the Weekly Poll 11/5/18 - RPG Life Simulator Aspects thread:

#13
Lots of ideas for this. Let's start.

I would love house customization. I don't know how it was in Fallout 4 as I didn't play that game but the more options the better.

I also don't want hair and beard growth since we will play in first person and it would become irrelevant. Besides we are in a city not in a forest so I think shaving or not, changing hairstyle or not and keeping a consistent look or not shouldn't be much of a hassle as to become a gameplay mechanic players should be constantly thinking of as it would become easier or more tolerable to mantain in real life than in game. DON'T want realistic mechanics in that element in particular. I want the look of my election to stay there. and if i'm shaved and want a beard so be it.

I also want a surgeon where if we pay we can change our default look the way we want. Like the character creator at the start of the game. Two other things, barber (hairstyle and beard) and tattoo parlor for our whole body since we can see it at the character creator (maybe put the two in the same place or CLOSE to each other so we wouldn't have to travel a lot to customize our character, I know it isn't common but it's cyberpunk after all) . Lots of options for this two please. ( Note: In the surgeon we could change hairstyle and beard and we could have all the options too so we could see how they look with the character's face but it would be more expensive as you are paying the complete package. This way players would prefer and have a real reason to use the barber).

I would like a gym were we could get how muscular we want and besides affecting looks (for when we see our body in first person or our character in third) change stats (like speed, strenght, etc.). It would be a minigame too (and we could have competitions/bets with other people, etc.).

I was gonna say i didn't wanted cooking and getting slimmer/fatter but with this muscle system idea I changed my mind and think it could contribute to build our body the way we want, and besides cooking COULD be a interesting mechanic IF we could make detailed recipes and create our own and be able to see them with LOTS of detail. If that isn't the case, then I don´t want it. But one thing for sure, I don't want any of this systems to be a necessity. Don't want any survival elements on this game.

.

From the thread Mike Pondsmith voicing a villain?:

Hope not, I liked his voice acting on the demo. Don't see a reason to change it.

Hope Mike makes an appareance on this game like Tarantino does on his movies for example (speaking of Tarantino, hope what CDPR said about the tone of this game being similar or inspired on his films IS TRUE. I love his movies and besides it would fit this game like a feet on a socket). I don't want him to be on the main quest nor play as himself (he could have augs). For all I care about he can be a cool merchant.
But one thing though, he HAVE to retain this iconic look with this glasses.
When he has this glasses on not only he has a cool voice but a cool look too.

One of my dream for the game is that it gets as deep and dirty in the themes, stories and politics that are essential to the genre, and to do so as creatively and flamboyantly as possible. What I expect to come with that effort, in the writing, world building, etc, just a really good RPG. The world building was actually the most exciting part of the demo for me. From the drink add to johnny silverhand etc. Its a consumer heaven (a euphemism for a hell which is clearly a dystopia here) and even the punk is part of that. When I saw someone buying the Silverhand record I can't but think of who buys records most today. Punk and counter culture like allot of culture in general gets commodified. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this and really hope to see it in the various parts of the game, especially the quieter moments before the action. That is what I recon will really make 2077 a landmark game, no one really has tried to make something quite as ambitiously cyberpunk. Hope it works all works out.

I am convinced that the game needs a lot of good music which emphasizes the aesthetics of cyberpunk, like "Crystal Castles - Concrete" or something! If the game has a lot of similar music - it will be great!

I've written many "dream RPG" thingies here, but in short, I suppose, what I'd like to see is a clearly modern game that takes itself seriously, but has an old(er) school heart to run it.

For a strictly FPP example... what would it look today if you married the original Deus Ex and Morrowind where instead of discarding all their gameplay workings as obsolete and replacign them with easy gate systems and FPS combat, it was actually brought forward to this day.

People like systemic gameplay. That's why the RPG systems have seeped in other genres. It just has to be figured out, how does one provide those systems in and RPG to the player today without swapping genres while doing that. Building on to of the foundation (that already is pretty oldschool in 2020).

Broken record moment: There are ways to do it, and people will accept good design even if it is not just like what every other popular game has done.

Personal questions about games and physical versions:

1. Will cyberpunk 2077 be released in physical form?

2. Where will the physical version be sold? Will there be different physical versions available?

3. Whether the physical version has KEY code for STEAM flat

4. Can we buy the physical version through the official website?

5. Will there be some in-game and realistic special items in the physical version compared to the electronic version?

6. Is the release time of physical versions of different platforms the same?
