By far the most realistic futuristic weapon I've seen in a while.
Tho the scope and bipod are a bit superfluous on a door-gun mount.
BUT - if one assumes the shooter is part of the ground team and will dismount when they reach their destination then they make sense.

Or, maybe he's sniping from the helicopter, and will move out with the ground team as more support... either way that picture kicks ass!!

Weeeeellllll....Depends on how many rounds you plan to fire. Resetting after the shot is a pain, although operators of course learn to do it. If you were going to spend the afternoon sniping from a mobile platform, yeah, I could see the advantages of a semiautomatic belt fed rifle of any kind.
This guy could tell you a thing or two about long range sniping:

You get it wrong.
I did not mean it is undoable, I just mean it is not worthy. You paint yourself a big target on the face and loose the benefit of a MG : rate of fire. But hey, who cares ?

Really depends what you're trying to accomplish.
There are several reasons the new .50 cal sniper rifles are popular:
1 - Hellacious range
2 - VS people they're LETHAL
3 - You can take out unarmored (and some lightly armored) vehicles
4 - Out to mid ranges (for the weapon) you can shoot thru walls and such
5 - Lots of different ammo types available (ball, armor-piercing, incendiary, tracer, armor-piercing-incendiary, armor-piercing-incendiary-tracer)

Yeah, they're big, heavy, take a while to set-up, etc. but you can fire at targets most folks assume are out of range, thus safe. If you don't need to move (and most snipers REALLY hate to fire more then one or two shots from any given location) they're damn nice weapons. They are NOT however a "Weapon of Choice" for most snipers.
