Cyberpunk gwent?

Since gwent was amazing part of the witcher 3 and even was released as a standalone game, it might be fun to see some kind of different/digitized version of it in the Cyberpunk. Digital "cards" could be won/bought/acquired in similar way as in W3, but here they could have some badass interactions, powerful CP77 characters and abilities. Indeed it should play different and allow us to play in more different ways then the original gwent did, but some new features like cards which could be improved/upgraded and other players could be invited to join you in the base game etc.

I never really played Gwent nor the Witcher games - but I'd generally say or think there is a larger demand for in-game games, so to speak. Or mini-games.

I loved playing Pazaak in KOTOR or gambling in Fallout New Vegas.

Being able to play card games or, ideally, gamble (with other games, casino related) would be nice in CP2077 and offer more options for the players. Imagine trying to build a fortune in-game just or mostly by gambling.

If they come up with something comparable for CP'77 in-game and then maybe as stand-alone game you can play at conventions or anywhere (given a set of cards, board, whatever you need) with custom CP77 cards, then that would be ... fancy.

I honestly appreciate more if they can spend development time in adding other kind of activities related to the setting...

Don't get me wrong i liked gwent as a standalone concept but i disliked how forcefully were forced inside the game at the point to make feel the setting fake.... Dice poker at least had a meaning since was an activity that was basically a tavern game...

SO no..

No gwent for cyberpunk 2077 if there will be minigames they should follow the example of fallout new vegas: Contextual to the setting minigames.

Well the one thing to think about is that Cyberpunk 2077 is our world that took a wrong turn somewhere. It's not a far off fantasy world like Witcher and Kotor. Sso you'll possibly see all modern day card games with a Cyberpunk twist to them, maybe "Cyber" chess and checkers for the Corp players, Neo-darts or something like that for nomads? Though there is the Net to also think about when thinking about mini-games. Maybe we can get a place to play some old fashion dominoes with a Night City twist to em as well.

Heck, call the game(s) to be added whatever you want, I just want casino or pub-like minigames or gambling :p

Bonus points if some games could be outlawed or forbidden by official laws or gangs somewhere and going to a place where that is done can result in random raids.

Okay, that is probably too much to ask for, but just throwing it out there....

I'm rather torn now, would our classic 19th century favorites stay the same or would they have done something to the games in 2020? Gimme a dominoes mini-game somewhere and I'll be happy. :p

I think I'd rather see them expand on subsystems that can be considered both as minigames and a more integral part of the world. Make hacking its own game within the game, taking cues from netrunning in the PnP and also from the cardgame Netrunner or its reboot as Android Netrunner. Make whatever, a rhythm game for rockerboys, indepth side activities for smuggling drugs like in Chinatown wars... as for complete minigames or distractions... come on, there's the Net, there have to be games on the Net. Also bloodsports in the real world.

Gwent is already getting its own game, no need to throw that reskinned in Cyberpunk anymore. Expand the horizons and come up with different games.

There was a certain scifi-RPG in the early 90's that had a variety of gambling games in the form of a variety of weird puzzle games. That's something I'd like to see. There's all too few puzzles in games these days anyway.

Eh ... I think I'd pass on Gwent specifically for CP 2077. Though I'm always up for some diversion if something more thematically appropriate with cyberpunk became a mini-game.

Hi,
i think that mini-games are like nowadays (rpg) standards, so i would not mind to have some as well in cyberpunk.
It doesn't really have to be real-time shooting whatever-usual mini game.
As there are multiplayer tools for game, it could be also just mini game with other players, that don't "enter your world" - something like just gwent multiplayer.
It would not ruin single player experience, would be up to player, if he wants to play it, and would not be basically Conter Strike minigame in cyberpunk world.

If the minigame would be real time, it would not need to be kill-to-win format - it could be just for relax, e.g:
Race, where two players follow their lines of cocaine on the ground, till one is no able to follow anymore and missteps of his line.
With time running, you would see more and more blurry, with some camera shaking or whatever...
Just some weird drugged race....

/me plays the Saburo Arasaka, activating his ultimate "dick move" special ability. Night city is bathed in heat of atomic fire, because someone broke into his tree-house. all the paper on earth gets eaten up by some nannotech bullshit, because .gov broke some of his toys. Arasaka wins the game out of sheer spite, because FUCK YOU, that's why.

I have an even better idea:

1. Instead of putting gwent in CP2077 do the opposite
2. Release Cyberpunk 2077 as a gwent update
3. ????
4. Profit

I love deep mini-games inside of single-player games. Even less deep ones like the dice game in Witcher 2 are fun. Even if we don't get a full-out Gwent-style game that can be turned into a standalone product, I'm certain we'll see lots to do in CP2077.

This is the dark future people, we don't need card games, we need Russian roulette as a playable mini-game. once you win your first couple qualifier matches, you can move up to the professional circuit!

or even better, they can make it a hit reality TV show!

How low can the bar go? we'll just keep digging till we find out. Welcome to Cyberpunk, nobody gets out alive!

Gwent was OK.
I guess I'm allowed to say now I was in the closed beta, but to be honest not being a card game fan I didn't give CDPR much feedback ... because I didn't have anything constructive to offer.

I don't know if they could even do a CCG type game for cyberpunk if they wanted to, there's bucketloads of drama with "social games" where those rights are concerned.

but this is cyberpunk, we got all kinds of fun 'n games! Russian roulette is a real hoot, as is it's kissing cousin "hot potato with a live grenade." If you're looking to work on your dodge skill then consider a round of "highway frogger." Should your plans for the evening call for more of a light maiming, consider a midnight "fun-run" through the combat zone!

If you get real bored and know a decker, then try your hand at the hip new craze all the kids are into : Hound tipping! you and a group of friends capture an NCPD robohound unit intact and reprogram it to do "wacky" stuff for the lulz.

see, we got all kinds of minigames lined up :)
