Some dark / ambient and some agressive cyberpunk themed songs for the darkest night.

Stealth, is my main element as I infiltrate a port yard on a dark rainy night. Motion and Thermal detection allows me to find my enemies hiding in the numerous shipping containers. I'm out numbered and a chaotic chase ensues. Once the heat is off, I hide in the darkness and wait for my chance to quietly pick them off... one by one.

So there's 95 pages here & I just can't go through them all, so I'm just going to lay this out there.
I've always loved Cyberpunk as a Genre but never actually gotten into Cyberpunk2020 & Mike Pondsmith's 'Universe'. So I'm a little unknown to the styles of music that are used for this kind of universe.

However lately I've been really getting into the Synth 80's style stuff, Perturbator, Powerglove etc. It always gets me thinking about 2077 & I had a question for you guys who are definitely more into it all then me. Does that 'Style' fit into this Universe & would it work for a game like Cyberpunk2077?
CDProjekt have always shocked me with their choice of Composers, even their Trailers use very 'Non-Mainstream' songs (Witcher Trailers & even the Teaser for 2077) & yet it's always gold (Witcher Trailers are by far some of the best Trailers ever) & not to mention they're using Percival for some of the Music in The Witcher 3.

So assuming the style of Artists like Perturbator & Powerglove fit into 2077, I would absolutely love to see CDPR gather a whole team of these guys who create this amazing music to make completely fresh tracks, each giving their own flavour, to create one diverse & kickass Soundtrack. I could be completely wrong though, so call me up on this if I am, I'd love to be educated :) I just love the idea in general of not going for your Jeremy Soule or Lorne Balfe kind of mainstream guy & finding these really cool smaller artists who still make magic & using them to create something amazing.

So as I said, I'm not much into the Universe but when I hear something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q-DmszAjYo I can't help but imagine some REALLY intense, section of Gameplay (Chasing some guy down, running from the Law ETC) & it just seems to fit perfectly.
Or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkPnnvKL0z4 playing in a Club somewhere.

I think that we can pretty much all agree we need some kind of Synth and cool night music, but I'd also like something a little different for the more richer areas. Maybe some calming jazz, not that I'm into it but I could imagine a few characters talking seriously as the music plays out in a dimly lit bar, that's probably just me though. It doesn't even have to be good jazz, could be bad even to the point where the characters are saying 'what is this shit?' Anyway, I just want variety, even though I do love 80's synth and other cyberpunk themed songs to the point where I wish people would do more. I feel it wouldn't feel right though if everywhere had the same sound, I want different feeling music for different feeling places.

Sounds reasonable. Not like Jazz, Rock etc disappear just because you're slightly further in the future, just depends on the way the Universe exists.

I was just mostly specifically thinking about Synth 80's style stuff because that's what I was listening to. As for other Genres of Music being in the game, that's where I would really fall flat, I don't know what else would fit (I'm sure there's a fair few comments regarding that in the previous pages though). However as I said, it would be nice for CDPR to gather lots of smaller artists to really create that diversity & uniqueness that might be required throughout the game.

It'd be so much cooler to turn on a Radio in-game & hear something like 'Bullets' from the Teaser, have no idea who created the song or where it came from, but it just sound fantastic. Compared to very mainstream, general & perhaps even generic stuff you find in something like GTAV. More niche, cool, unknown, smaller guys the better IMO.

So far this Daniel L. K. Caldwell guy seems to be the most likely (and only one for the moment) to get the opportunity of contributing to or all of the game's musical score, if handling the score for the 'Mike Pondsmith about Cyberpunk World' web promo interview is any indication.

It's actually quite good:

It isn't necessarily an indication. Suitable music for that kind of promo isn't necessarily the same as for the game itself.

This would be pretty cool ambient/resting music. I like the skittery, calm sound of this track.

Also I'd like to see Elend somehow put in there as I think they're musically a very important band and could totally give the right feel to certain parts of a dark/moody game.

Sounds cinematic and score'ish enough and like a good fit for a game like CP 2077 to me.
We'll see.

Here are some that should have been included already:

Motörhead - Ace Of Spades
Motörhead are simply loud and agressive.

The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop
The Ramones embodied the punk spirit.

Blondie-Call Me
Blondie may seem mainstream buy if you watch and listen closely she is oozing angst ridden sex. Very cyberpunk.

Blondie - One Way Or Another

Anthrax - Got The Time
Anthrax are another loud and aggressive band that fit perfectly into cyberpunk.

It might please you to know that I had my speakers at max so I could hear them while working out downstairs. My playlist ended, I came up, made a shake, wandered the forums, then clicked on your video.

Aaaand now I have a resting heartrate of about 600, as well as a headache and ringing sound in my ears.

So, nicely done.

Perhaps not covers, but AI driven digital ghosts of the bands re-imagining and re-branding their own music...

I've also been listening to a lot of 80's synth recently. Something about it just makes me feel nostalgic, and when I hear it it makes me think, "this is gonna be good."

As for the smaller guys, I completely agree with you. Every so often I stumble onto a really good band and wonder how the hell I've never listened to them or heard them before. Some of the people I still listen to are from the soundtracks of games. It'd benefit both CD and the lesser known artists because they won't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money on well known artists, and the ones that are featured in the game will get more exposure.

You missed a good one.

NOT gonna link these cause they're both over an hour - but well worth listening to:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbVjEjqeW8Y

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya-ekUD4yTk

My point is - it doesn't have to be "metal" to be "Cyberpunk" ... it's about ATTITUDE.
