Cyberpunk Soundtrack

Play the music... Watch them gifs...

Come to think of it, some of Pink Floyd repertoire fits cyberpunk atmosphere more than other. I mean, look at the lyrics to this one.

You either die young and hard or live long enough to die a sorry death alone anyway since you've gone too far on other's heads in whatever corporation you worked.

CP2077 Composers Revealed!!!!

In another news article we finally know who are doing the score: Brain and Melissa!!! If you don't know who they are, both of them worked on video games like Twisted Metal, Bloodborne and Infamous: Second Son. To be honest I can think of no one better. I know a lot of people want Perturbator, but come on lets be real it was always gonna be a pipe dream. I think Perturbator would have been perfect as well, but CDPR said that CP2077 won't be a retro game. This duo I feel are the next best thing. I strongly believe they can get those atmospheric, synthy old school cyberpunk feel but keep it modern.

Here is their Soundcloud-

But that said I hope that they take influence from these composers and styles.

Vangelis-

Brad Fiedel-

Bernard Herrman-

Kabuki Theatre-

KMFDM-

Power Glove-

and of course Perturbator-

I believe capturing this type of composition, mood and feel (not necessarily retro) would make CP2077 a cut above the rest

The link to the article is here-

What do you guys hope they do with the score?

Your inspiration material saddens me. After all, Cyberpunk is not Blader Runner per se.

But that said I hope that they take influence from these composers and styles (among everything else).

BTW, it's essentially a cyberpunk soundtrack thread. Where's our restless thread merger?

What makes you think Perturbator isn't working on the game? Developers typically have entire teams dedicated to audio, music, etc. Not just one or two people.

It's not like Perturbator is incapable of adjusting his style to fit the game. Most artists aren't one-trick ponies, after all.

there are a couple of tracks that i think would be appropriate for cp:

smg - this metal sky - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuVxC2NNjrI (opener stripe and so appropriate to cp)
smg - hole in the ground - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz02...AC3E8&index=12
smg - another one down - no link (but with the oh so appropriate lyrics "... some times it hits me right between the eyes ...")
smg - everything else - no link
smg - degenerate - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19V8d0so3v8 (nice collection of CPish related imagery and not too shabby a track)
smg - cocaine jesus - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJYOKhWtCfA (for those of us that want/like to roleplay substance abusers)

the oyster murders - disaster flower bloom (satellite reign anyone?) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ttxs3m_Ktbs
saxon shore - this place (because of reasons.) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR8kVR7qFFA
(the last 2 indie tracks are because it seems to be better than most of the crap that is released now days even from known artists that we like.)

Pondsmith said once he sees chrome metal as a mix of Ministry and Alan Parson's Project. I'd rather throw Prong, Ayreon and Watchtower in a mixer I.e. a music that still retains a requirement for both virtuosity, catchy tunes, clever use of keyboards and a protest in lyrics but all done less transparently and pushing for music performance than regular (punk-)rock or bay area thrash.

I see some people mentioning Solar Fields around here, but search doesn't find even one mention of Aes Dana. People who like Solar Fields, but know nothing about Aes Dana should quickly educate themselves. :)

Alignments - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TBSl-cDYlo
Adonai (edit) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scohc15HMF0
Leylines - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXC8WMQ-1hg

Asura is also worth mentioning.
