A really good french composer, Etienne de Crecy, makes good sounds and also participated to make some sounds with Bob Rifo.

Hi all,

a token mention that this forum is for Cyberpunk music. Punk. Electric. Dark. Edgy.

As much as we're all enthusiastic about our music, think about your selections. You never know, after looking at the number of hits this topic has received versus the others, I reckon that people are watching it.

This means that suggestions you make may end up in game or in a soundtrack.

Think about your selections please. Choose your words wisely.

Thanks for your attention.

Some suggestions were quite good. Like Front Line Assembly...or Solar Fields. Sonic Mayhem is the next logical step.
I'd like to see this track on the OST : Nine Inch Nails - The Bullet Man. The excellent song would finally be included in something worth mentioning.

And I also like the idea of classical music appearing on it, or at least in some form in game. In my mind those genres fit quite well (certainly better than normal punk). I've always imagined myself breaking through ICE listening to Mozart...
One good example for all : Vivaldi - 4 Seasons, Summer (Presto).

Always. ;-)

42 minute set/mixtape from artist Ad·ver·sary. More atmospheric, rather than the usual "Oontz Oontz" I post up.

Enjoy.

I'm with Cyberbeard on this one, for someone who started in pen&paper RPGs circa 1980 a lot of my major "Inspirational" influences came from musicians such as Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre (Magnetic Fields esp.). Others such as Daft Punk and Skrillex have continued that legacy thru to today.

Cyberpunk genre titles such as BladeRunner are only enhanced by the atmospheric sounds of such artists, but enough of the mood music. As far as the classic CyberPunk 2020 Rockerboy image is concerned it should be anything goes regarding the pace of live in such a world as originally envisioned by William Gibson via his novels.

For old timer(s) sake here's JMJ Magnetic Fields from 1981...

Actually CDP RED just needs to hire Anthony Rother to do all the music.
Dude's basically the complete package and can pull off pretty much anything from cinematic score-like backdrops to abstract meandering ambience to proper kraftwerkian electro or even everything in the same track.
And it always manages to evoke the most dystopian futuristic cyberpunk'ish (duh) imagery - well, at least in my head.

The shameless uber-plugging aside - I like the idea of licensing a couple of songs/tracks from a variety of different genres (that obviously still fit in with the overall theme and tone of CP 2077 and aren't that expensive to obtain) and having them randomly played in the background at appropriate locations (bars, clubs, pubs, shops, whatever) in Night City. Like in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

It is nice track but not official. Author of that track or someone that really likes it obviously wants it to be implemented in game. I like it, It has that Tron 2.0 beat..

Aww... well i hope it gets into the game somehow :)

I am a huge EBM/Futurepop/whatever you want to call it fan. From the classic 80's bands that help start it to newer ones.

I think first of, you MUST have some Front 242, you can not have this game without Front 242, I'm sorry but it's just simply not possible. Here are a couple of their best songs/most well known:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4oFcaVY8iQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZgx5ExT9iQ

One of my all time favorite bands is VNV nation, this music seems SO fitting imo, especially considering the "robotic" nature of cyberpunk and the humanity/loss of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTL8NtqGdw4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km7jHW3O26g (one of my personal favorites of theirs)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOvuvLvHF9s

Another one of my favorite bands is Covenant, they are a newer band with some great songs, here are a couple:

There's the classic Sisters of Mercy:

Infected Mushroom: (a bit different then some of the above)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5xCkgqR69U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0Cbfm1PStA&t=2m55s (I put it at the best part of the song imo)

KMFDM (another classic, bit more industrial rock)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvZqWq0ZNjk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4-bUYU3BH8

MDFMK (Side project of KMFDM, a bit more electronic sounding)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e6H3bboKKU

Monster Magnet - Silver Future

All I can think of now, if anyone likes any and wants to know more just pm me.

Mike Patton did a fantastic job scoring Crank 2, imo. I would throw in a suggestion for Trent Reznor but frankly, the guy seems stuck to a theme these days.

I haven't read all the posts here and I'm sure these have been mentioned in other places but I've noticed that there is a difference of opinion regarding what makes music Cyber Punk. These are all songs which I've been exposed since becoming involved in the Vancouver/Seattle Cyber Punk Scene back in the early 90's and a few that lead me to seek out said scene. (Some of you may notice a theme at the beginning here)
