Cyberpunk Source Material: Games, Movies, Books

I'm surprised this hasn't been included in the Comics/BD section:

Gipsy (or Gypsy in some editions) by Smolderen and Marini (Wikipedia)
Is an early nineties BD series starring Tsagoï, a Romanian gipsy truck driver in a near future world where global warming has led to the fall from grace of air traffic in favor of the use of land vehicles for the transportation of people and goods. In this world a massive tricontinental motorway called the C3C has been built to connect the world together. There aren't any cyborgs or mention of a cyberspace, but the story is unmistakably cyberpunk, with big corporations with their own armies, a lot of political conflict and changing borders, etc, and Tsagoï, a character who reminds me in its design to Bean Bandit from Riding Bean with a touch of Otomo's artstyle, will be a treat for fans of the nomad role.

Another comic I would add to the list is Nathan Never, a comic of the Italian publisher Sergio Bonelli Editore (brought to Spain in its time by Planeta deAgostini and nowadays by Aleta ediciones and seeing minor release in the USA by Dark Horse Comics), written by Michelle Medda, Antonio Serra and Vepi Vigna and with art from various artists (Claudio Castellini, Roberto de Angelis, Sergio Giardo, etc.)
The stories are nothing groundbreaking and are a mix of different influences, mainly Blade Runner and Isaac Asimov, with some of the writers actively eschewing the label cyberpunk... though some of the topics are. There are stories of the supernatural, the extraterrestrial and mutants, and others typical of the New Wave.
Nathan Never is an agent of the private security corporation Special Agency Alpha. He will deal with all kinds of stories involving kilelr cyborgs, deadly viruses, ninjas... and his arch-enemy Aristoteles Skotos, leader of a sect. Aiding him are combat specialist Legs Weaver and socially-inept hacker genius Sigmund. The series also inspired the Spin-off Agenzia Alfa.
The art ranges from average to really stunning, and manga fans will recognize lots of homages (Mazinger Z, Gundam, the Olympus Arcology and drones straight out of Appleseed).

Does anyone know anything about the System Shock reboot by Chris Avellone? I think they did a very successful Kickstarter, and the release date was somewhere near this year...

The musician known as Perturbator who owns the label Bloood Music is now publishing for a video game being developed called VirtuaVerse by Theta Division Games, a retro pixel-art cyberpunk point & click game due out 2019.

Perturbator was rumored to being working on music with CDPR on Cyberpunk 2077. Also posted a while back, and Mike Pondsmith had some input on this as well.

I can't believe they're not flooding Mike with replies...

Eagerly awaiting VirtuaVerse since recently discovering it, this game looks like it could be refreshingly deep. Love the retro pixel-art in the Cyberpunk setting.

I'd like to see some deep RPG systems in the game, as well as a vast story. With another year or more of development time, this could be a hit.

unfortunately i can reveal that the game wasn't very good. it looks amazing there is no game that looks like this. but gameplay and story is bare bones to say the least.

I tried it myself, pretty meh. There's better cyberpunk games out there in my opinion.

which ones do you recommend?

Dex, Satellite Reign and all the new Shadowrun games - Shadowrun Returns, Dragonfall and Hong Kong. Especially Hong Kong. It has the best gameplay, graphics and animations out of the three, and in my opinion the most "cyberpunk" story, barring the ending (which is a bit too fantasy for my tastes).

You'll notice that almost all of these are RPGs, except Satellite Reign, which is more of a squad based tactical game with RPG elements.
