I just got to Chapter 1 in Dark Mode, surprised haven't died yet... but I always felt like the first chapter was suddenly harder than the tutorial, so we'll see. Anyway! Yes, I would like to know if anyone knows about how to acquire the new equipment, mainly the new armor-quests! If I find it early myself, I'll be sure to post about it!

Yes.. im in Flotsam.. and its the only thing who its related.

But we need lot of components for make them. And the patterns are expensive (1k for armor for example). I want to craft it.. but i want to see what happend in the second act. (CDP said 3 set.. so, maybe one/act ?)

Go to the pattern craft section. You will see the new item. Only in Dark Mode, ofc.

I'm in chapter 2 now, and the next set of dark armor is expensive, and requires alot of studded leather, which i have none of... GAH crafting that is going to be terrible... i dont think there are any merchants that sell studded leather in vergen =(

What about the 3 new mini quests related to such dark sets? Has anyone started one of them? And how and where?

I was thinking the same about the quests and armor sets being connected...

Has nobody had a new quest yet that had to do with Dark Mode?

The three new mini-quests just cover the crafting of the dark mode items. There's no real plot for them. Just some lore about the outfits and such.

As far as the sets go, they are all craftable, and require a lot of orens/materials. You can find the recipes sold by blacksmiths.

I'm not sure that they're worth it, but I guess I need to try them at least once. :)

I'm looking at what I need for the Chapter 1 set, and it seems like it's either that OR the usual upgrades, that you'd have problems getting the orens/components for both.

So is it worth getting one piece at a time, or is the penalty too high?
Or is it better to wait until you can get the full set?

The penalty is only for the swords, so you can craft the armor pieces one at a time. In my opinion, the only thing in the Ch. 1 set that really stands above the normal things you can get is the main armor (the chestpiece/jacket). The steel sword also is pretty good, but to use it you need the entire set... So if you're min/maxing, it's not worth it to go for the entire set.

But if you want to, it's not that difficult. It seems expensive (and it is), but there's more than enough orens floating around in Ch. 1 to cover the entire set. I was able to complete the armor set before I completed half the side quests and before I killed the Kayran, and the reward from that quest got me enough orens to get the two swords.

(MAYBE SPOILERS HERE)

Well,

I was gonna make my own thread but saw this one.

I just got up to ch 3 and I must say, the sets are a massive let down. They are far too expensive to make, to the point in chapter three I had already completed everything to get money, and ended up having to rest, kill that group of sqwarking foulness (harpies) at the top of the ruins and kill the two Nilfgaard guards over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.. etc again till I got enough money to be able to create the final set.

Seriously, they could have put some more quests in to give you enough resources to make this stuff. And dark mode doesn't seem any different to Hard. except getting hit in the back seems to kill you faster no matter how many points you have in talents to negate backstab.

So, by the time you have enough stuff and money to be able to craft these things, you don't have anything left to do, unless you heed my warning and farm up a ton of orens before chapter two and three, what fun that will be for you. Or sit there pulling your hair out playing dice for a pittance every go.

Waste of time. Forget these things. They are not worth the time and effort. There aren't any quests associated with these things, just a fancy DAH DAH! noise you get when you make the last piece in each set. In fact the waste of my time kind of ticked me off. Nice one CDPR, hope you read this. 2.0 basically did nothing, I saw no real changes except a little combat tweak or two, and some new armour sets that do nothing for you except waste a lot of your time.

Not only that, there are some nice new bugs in there to really get you angry and annoyed.

Unimpressed and annoyed.

Mind you I have yet to really get stuck into the arena. Perhaps that will assuage my ire.
