Aye, 60 is the highest it'll go. Which, from what I'm told, makes a huge difference in how you play the game. Parrying, for one, is easier.

I wouldn't know myself since I'm still waiting on my copy to be shipped from England. The only region to be delayed yet another week! Guh... Oh well, at least I can catch up on other games. Like Dante's Inferno. A surprisingly cool game, I'm really loving it so far!

hang in there man

decided to have a more arab look and I don't like my characters looking the same, having the same beards and hairstyles.

PVP is really great you guys should join a covenant for it, Bell Covenant seems to be the most reliable for quick matches. A lot of people expect dual wielders to never parry but they can quickly get out of power stance and parry unexpectedly. There are some awesome spells like Lingering Flame which act as a proximity mine, it's great if you wanna heal in front of your enemy's face haha.

KADOKAWA HAS ACQUIRED FROM SOFT

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/216330/Dark_Souls_studio_From_Software_acquired_by_Kadokawa.php

Kadokawa Games is best known for publishing titles like Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer is Dead. The studio also develops games, such as Demon Gaze, Natural Doctrine and The Kantai Collection.

here's what those games look like

anyone up for Bikini Souls?

I'm more worried about DLC then any loss of quality honestly.

The pre-order DLC for DS2 turned out to be a joke though so who knows.

Yeah I'm trying my best. This is hell. This right here.

Also, your character looks like a total boss. Fucking beast mode engaged. It looks like the character creation is pretty sturdy, since your dude actually does look like an arab. A badass one at that. Oh and, STOP TORMENTING ME! Gah, all these awesome pics and here I am, sitting in my chair playing tetris. Desperately wanting time to speed up ten fold!

Yeah I'm thinking I'll probably join the Way of Blue or Champions. Hm, not sure. There's a bunch out there so who knows what I'll end up going.

Yeah that's just FromSoft trolling again. It's just that this time, the jokes not on the players, but on the retailers. They put out the DLC pack because apparently DLC, especially DLC that has cosmetic or practical stuff in it, are big unit sellers. So FromSoft just did the most awesome thing ever. They included a bunch of eh weapons, which you'll get later in the game anyway, as a way to incentivize retailers to push Dark Souls 2 a bit harder but wouldn't upset the fans too much since, well for reasons I've already mentioned. The DLC is very much pointless. FromSoft knows this. Retailers, however, don't. Since, as we've established, these kind of fluff DLC encourage people to buy the game, there wasn't much reason for From not to seize this opportunity and prank the stores a bit.

From are awesomesauce. So glad I found those jokers :D

Haha yeah I can imagine. Personally, I'd never use any of them simply because of their uglyness.

What can I say, I'm one vain motherfucker :p

the goddamn invasion system is really fucked

you invade someone then you get a token of spite which you then use on one of the statues of the darkwraith covenant. If you win you get 1 red eye orb. You can only buy red eye orbs on NG+ wtf!!

The real game begins on NG+ wtf

oh and I made this cute old man

also some promising ENB's coming. I wouldn't install them just yet because I hear people are getting banned for modding.

It looks just like the pre-release footage.

Well done.

Could you post a link to an enhanced graphics mod? I bought DS2 for PC as well, and I would want to beef up the game as much as possible.

By the way, am I right that melee in DS2 is easier than in DS1? Usually I go for some ranged approach to bosses, but in DS2, unlike in DS1, I have no problems killing them up close and personal. I don't even use effigies and just do everything with my 75% health, with no companions. It seems sufficient enough.

Stumbled upon this, found it quite funny :p:

As for the game, I'm really struggling to get into it, the controls and slow combat are really getting to me, any tips that might make my time with it more enjoyable?

Haha what in the actual fuck! :p Damn! I feel sorry for any person who buys the game expecting a comfortable, laidback experience ^^

Yeah I'd say chill out. Slow down your mind. Breathe. Take in the environment. Try to enjoy every step you take. Use a weapon that you like, not a weapon that's good. Choose armour sets that makes you look like a badass, rather than go for 100% most efficient build. Try telling stories to yourself. Why are you here? Who are all these souls that came before me? Where am I in relation the previous game? How am I going to cure myself of this curse when all I see is people succumbing to it?

Pay attention to the details and try to enjoy the simplicity of the combat. If that doesn't work, then hey!, I guess the game just isn't for you. Which is fine, one cannot love everything, sadly :)

What're you using? a controller? Are you playing Dark Souls 1 or 2?

Tell me whats happening so I can help.

Be cautious, patient and methodical. The enemy is predictable so find their pattern.

It's good to spend a lot of time with the character creator because your face appears in some cutscenes of the game

I'm using M&K, not really comfortable playing 3rd person with a controller. And it's DS2.

You might be having difficulty with controls. I haven't tried M&KB on DS2 but it seems like it takes A LOT of getting used to.

Do you often panic and not know which button to press? If so, it's time to try the controller or maybe try remapping to DS1 M&KB controls.

You gotta be more specific of where you're having a hard time so we can help.

May I add an heretic advice?
If you're not getting into it, look at how "veterans" play it for the first half-hour or hour. I guess if you don't like what you see (pace, gameplay), that's because you got the wrong game (and in my opinion DkS1 was better)!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GartaU-2-2c (ENB, this was not his first playthrough)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkpHrVnnLBM (Oroboro, first playthrough)

I never tried to play DkS with m&k.
I always spend some time to improve my technique outside of combat: try every weapon and its moveset (there are a lot of different moves for each weapon: roll+attack, backpedal+attack, run+attack, one or two-handed...) and, then, for each situation. Learn to parry, jump attack, guard break. Having some technical ease may help you getting into the game.
I wouldn't recommend playing a caster or an archer in your first playthrough though (I don't know what you did). Not because it's easier or harder, but because it's less intense than weapons.

Thanks everyone for the advice!
So, I tried it again with an Xbox controller, doesn't seem as clunky, but the major downside is that I'm just clumsy with controllers in 3rd person games (better get used to it, right? :p). I started off with the knight since it says it can take more hits than the other classes, so I thought it would be the one for a newcomer like me. Smaller enemies I can deal with just fine, I'm somehow having trouble with bigger enemies, any tips on how to deal with those as a knight?

Don't get greedy, observe and predict.

Normally big opponents like the turtle knight can absorb a combo without staggering. You need to wait for it to do an attack animation and identify when it's safe for you to attack. 1.bait it to attack you 2.avoid it's attack 3.find the window 4.strike(don't get greedy) 5.have enough stamina to roll away 6.repeat

healing has the same strategy is attacking, if your enemy is stuck in an long animation it's a safe time to heal. You can also use the environment to confuse the AI

You should also invest in a shield since you're new to the game, a great shield or a kite shield will do,pay attention to stats like Phys Def

Unfortunately yes: circle et get behing them.
More interesting approches: shield, or running past them.
When you can't defeat an enemy, it may be because you're not supposed to kill it.
In Dark Souls 1 you began the game facing a boss. Of course the boss is intimidating so you're focusing on him, forgetting there's a little door hidden somewhere to escape and find another way to kill the thing.
