Dark Souls-style attacks - Light Attack on RB/R1, Heavy Attack on RT/R2?

Dark Souls-style attacks - Light Attack on RB/R1, Heavy Attack on RT/R2?

Right now I feel the combat suffers because you can't both move the camera and attack simultaneously, depriving you of some much welcome situational awareness. By putting the attacks on RB/R1 and RT/R2 you would free up the thumb considerably and never have to take your finger off the attack button, keeping you in a constant ready state. Thoughts?

Might not help of you are on controller, but this is how I run in PC, with Parry mapped to Shift. I play on DM, and I f this give s me better tactical capability.

Wow...until you pointed this out I didn't realize how much this could improve the combat on death march. I play with my dualshock 4 on PC and yeah, with the current setup I often lose track of opponents very quickly in a group, and since most combat involves groups of 3 or more it makes the situation hard to keep track of. Great suggestion! Hope the devs can implement remapping for gamepads on PC as well.

this could be fixed with a remaping control option

Silly, the proper way to use a DualShock 4 is with your chin resting on RS. You can move the camera all you want, while your right thumb is free to engage the face buttons for attacking and rolling and dodging.

But seriously, I'm getting used to it, but sometimes I still want to swing my sword with R2. Thankfully the sign I end up firing off is usually enough to do some welcome mayhem and remind me that this was not a sword attack. :)

Controller mapping options are always welcome in any game. Have good presets that the user can always revert back to, then let them assign a sword swing to a press of L3 if they want.

I really wish developers wouldn't be afraid to fully realize the potential of the DS4's touchpad.or motion sensing capabilities (always as options, never as hard, required controls). I should be able to toss the controller behind me and have Geralt do a triple backflip off a cliff, if I want. And Geralt should have an inner monologue always coming out of the DS4's little speaker, with a triangle slider to adjust between "serious", "humorous", and "break-the-fourth-wall-ous".

I digress… :)

I am playing with K&M and I have dodge on "V" and roll on "Space". I use "Q" for parrying and "E" for running, my 3rd mouse button for Signs and my 4th mouse button (got a 5 button mouse) for the Quick access menu, left mouse for light attacks, right mouse for hard attacks.

F1 and F2 for consumables. Loving it so far, even if it was hard to find the right spots for so many different things at first.
I also don't like that some key assignments are actively locked, hate that.

But aside from that it works well for me, and the mouse movement while attacking and rolling and dodging is reduced (as it should be) but acceptable IMO.

Sardukhar, are you using input mapper to use your dualshock 4 on pc? If so, it would be easy to swap the buttons around using input mapper. The game would still see the same button presses, and you would have to keep in mind, all presses using those buttons would be affected. But it can be done.

Guys I have been saying something similar in the "Wishlist" post. This could be fixed by centering the camera everytime you block! Ala Zelda. The thing is, there should be an option to center the camera in a much easier way.
