Daytime Brightness Bug - Unplayable Conditions in Cyberpunk 2077

+
I am experiencing a severe bug in Cyberpunk 2077 where the brightness during daytime is excessively high, making the game nearly unplayable. The screen becomes overwhelmingly bright, to the point where it is difficult to see any details or even navigate properly. This issue persists during the day in the game world and significantly impacts gameplay.

System Configuration:

  • Graphics Settings: Max settings, DLSS set to Quality
  • Resolution: 2560x1440
  • Graphics Card: RTX 3080 TI
  • CPU: i9 12900k
  • OS: windows 11

Description of the Issue:

  • When: The bug occurs during the daytime in the game.
  • What Happens: The brightness levels are extremely high, and it's almost impossible to see anything clearly.
  • Steps Taken: I have tried adjusting the in-game brightness settings and graphic settings also applied a mod that reduced bloom and brightness but the issue persists.
I would appreciate any guidance or fixes regarding this issue. I’ve checked online, and it seems like this problem might be affecting other players as well. Please let me know if there are any additional steps I should try or if this issue is being looked into for a future update.

Thank you for your time and support.

Sincerely,

Annoying indeed :(
First thing to try I think, it's to clean install your drivers using DDU (first thing when encountering a visual issue)
I. Download the latest drivers using the following link: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
II. Download Display Driver Uninstaller and run it to remove previous versions of drivers.
III. Clean install drivers that you've downloaded in step 1.
Also, just to be sure, it occurred before using mods? Or you already used mods before the issue occurs?

I'll try that and give updates here if it works. Thanks.
I noticed it appear after I installed cyber engine mod. Once the bug appeared, I installed the visual mod to try and fix the brightness issue.

Ok, if it doesn't work you will have to "investigate" a bit more :)

- I'm not really familiar with CET, but I know it integrate some features (like skipping the intro video), so check if there is any which can affect light/brightness.
- Then, you have to check if the whole game is affected or if it's only your current save/playthrough. So start a new playthrough to see if you experience the same issue or not (ideally, start as nomad, you will start directly at mid day in the Badlands).
> If you don't have any issue, it's a bit annoying because it means only your current save is affected and I'm not so sure how to fix it :(
> If the issue still persist, maybe some game files are affected/corrupted. So you can try to remove these folders, verify the game files in your launcher and check if the issue persist.

REDEngine and CD Projekt Red folders from here %userprofile%\AppData\Local\
If you can't see the folder in Windows Explorer window then select:
  • on Windows 10: View → Hidden items
  • on Windows 11: View → Show → Hidden items

In addition, see if switching off HDR improves anything.

so the new game seems to not be affected. this lead me to think maybe it's the save file corruption I check all my save files back till when I only had 4 hours into the game but those are all having the same issue. I am going to do a clean install and update here if that fixes anything. Thank you for your suggestions.

Sincerely,
I have the same issue on my lenovo legion with rtx 5080. Latest game patch 2.31, first time playing cyberpunk, gamma is on 1.0. When I use HDR everythin is too brigh during the day until I set gamma in cyberpunk to 0,5... Any idea why is that? The other issue is that when I set gamma to 0,5 then during night I can barely see anything... When I turn off HDR completely then it's normal no matter if it's day or night! My laptop's display is rated at 500 nits. I have brightness set at 100% in windows settings and I have configured HDR profile in windows settings.
