Even if the changelog doesn't say anything specific, as long as the patch is still in the works there's a chance that they'll fix it.

It does say something in the changelog for 1.07:
Introduces a number of improvements in the game streaming system. Players should experience fewer blurred textures, NPC spawn times should be markedly reduced, and there should be an overall improvement in the speed with which game assets are loaded. Streaming system improvements should be most noticeable on consoles and systems with non-SSD drives.

You have to edit the user.ini to fix the LOD pop in, on GTX 980ti you can fix the grass and the shadows but anything but trees and buildings are impossible to fix unless you want edit it to crazy levels and then it becomes unplayable... like 17 fps unplayable.

Listen to these guys. There are many people before you who have had the exact same issues.

overall improvement in the speed with which game assets are loaded. - THIS MEANS more shitty level of detail more low res texture and
THey haven't mention anything about the hovering NPC with arms spread, nothing about auto center camera etc etc ... so as it is going I believe that patch 1.07 will fix some of the issues and will not some of the existing MOST IMPORTANT ONEs and will INTRODUCE more visual glitches. Now I am expecting tsunamis in skillege while there is no wind ...

What annoys me the most is that textures have two types. One that loads at distance of 10 meters and another above 10 meters. I would be galloping on my horse and next to the road a stone wall would be refreshing and changing textures continuously as I speed past it. IT"S SUCH AN EYESORE.

Same happens with lighting and shadows at some places.

And let's not even go into NPC popping in at 2 meters in front of me at some locations. (Nilfgaardian camps ALWAYS).

The worst part is seeing how the game uses nearly 1.7GB or so Vram just because it's hardcoded because of the consoles and their hardware limitations. CDPR sold out PC users big time and no patching will fix that. I for one won't buy another game from them out of principle.

Witcher 3 uses ~2GB vram and over 5GB of system RAM. Also, CDPR didn't sell anybody out:

If you want be in denial it's fine by me. I am not going to get into it with you since the moderator jump at every opportunity to close down threads as soon as PC vs Consoles is mentioned.

And even 2GB of Vram usage is laughable for a game being called "the most beautiful open world RPG ever".

Oh! so u are mad that the game aint using more than 3gb of VRAM like GTA5 does. It wasn't very clear what you meant. Im with u in this. I have a GTX 980 Ti with 6GB VRAM and apart from GTA 5 nothing makes my vcard cry of agony. I was thinking that i would like to have bigger texture packs, like 4/8GB . But as long as the LOD is improved and texture streaming/popping is fixed Im happy with the texture quality cos in fact it aint that bad. If render properly ofc.

Actualy the game uses a maximum 1,2gb in 1080p. The amount of memory used in this game only proves that PC can achieve console optimizations but they never do because you always can go higher (and hardware sellers will get mad if a GPU from 3 years ago could run today games well :p)

The 'terrible' LOD saves you from terrible performance. To get rid of it: simply wait ten years, then try the ultra-ini tweaks again with future top notch hardware. :ok:

The software could do better on the current range of hardware when it comes to popping npc. The rest I can live with.

For me in some areas (Novigrad) it reaches around 2.8 GB.

This isn't optimisation. People keep confusing other people with this.

Optimisation is when you give a player the same graphic quality by using less resources. What we have in todays games is 100% ALWAYS, just downgrading. So that less is needed to be processed by the same resources.

Real optimisation is what Mantle tried to do, and what DirectX12 will do. That is optimisation, getting higher performance on the same hardware with improved software. Not removing parts of your software to run better on the same hardware.

So if anyone wants to see what Witcher 3's LOD looks like if you mess around with the user.ini and just go crazy, take a look:

FPS killer setting

ultra setting

high setting

TW3 is very efficient at utilizing current PC hardware. Look at AC Unity or Watch Dogs, those use easily up to 8GB of VRAM and look not a bit better than TW3, while performing worse. The Witcher is a well optimized game in every way.

Yea, but W3 only uses 2 GB. All game engines use the exact same vram resources, didn't you know that? Laughable if you didn't know that.
