Dearest Developers, Please DON'T NERF / PATCH ANY MONEY EXPLOIT / CHEAT...

...because some guys (like me) just wanna have fun sometimes.

I get it, money is part of the equation, of the economy within this amazing game. It's part of the challenge.

But then, I'm an oldschool guy, I started on PS1, been owner of PS2, first Xbox, second Xbox (the 360 which got RROD eversince I didn't bother buying another) and now PS4. Before, the cheats are there, it's either one browse on your favorite gaming magazines (remember them?!) or in those first gaming-decidated websites (like GameFAQs).

Now, MOST DEVELOPERS TURNED CHEATS INTO SOMETHING THRU THEIR GREEDY WAYS. THEY BASICALLY ASK MONEY FOR EVERYTHING NOW.

Wanna unlock a guy? Buy the guy.
Want an sweet sword? Give me 5 bucks.
Want a cool costume? Give me $10.
More money? Go to our PSN page and click on our value rates! (looking at you, Warframe)

Before, these are combination of buttons away or, like the matter at hand, cheats / exploits. Now devs ruined this by their greed.

You, the great people of CD Projekt RED, are NOT one of these guys. I know it.

Because you're giving us 16 free DLCs. And even if there aren't, as its own right now, Witcher 3 is far and away the MOST COMPLETE, TRUE NEXT-GEN GAME thus far. You guys set the bar. This is the gold standard of how you making a quality, worth-every-penny game. I don't really give a s*** about tiny pixel differences and whatnot some of these internet guys are whining about (instead of PLAYING THE GAME duh!), but know this and soak it in:

WITCHER 3 IS THE MOST VISUALLY-IMPRESSIVE GAME YET. Don't you ever doubt the work you've done as you guys did the unthinkable: an open-world game that as huge and as gorgeous at it looks.

Now, cheats / cheatcodes whatever you call them is part of the gaming culture, and these greedy developers have found a way to microtransac them. Sure, this helps additional profit and sure, some people are happy with this system and they gladly pay nickels and dimes or hundreds of dollars even, but ask yourself this question: gaming survived without these cashcowing before, gaming will survived without it.

WITCHER 3 IS PROOF OF THIS.

I have NEVER, ever paid for extra content / DLC since I got my PS4 earlier this, nor will I ever... but I'm gonna make an exception for Witcher 3. You have my word. If my word is not enough, when the expansions come, I'll post a screenshot of my purchase on PSN just to prove it if that's what you want.

I got the PS4 version of Witcher 3 obviously, and I'm gonna support you guys in future Witcher 3 expansions and your future games. All I ask, and I'd like to believe it's not just me, is keep those money exploits and NOT patch them. Like, forever. Just patch the technical stuff like frame rates or whatever these guys complain so much about (again, on my PS4, it's graphics are mind-blowingly beautiful, so I'm not one of these graphic maniacs).

Why?

Because it's a CHOICE for us that wants it. It's an OPTION, and ALTERNATIVE way of playing.

Will I do it? Not right away, I'd like to "live within the game and experience being what's like being a wondering badass with a few crowns on his pocket". Later I'll definitely will. And I won't care if some of these internet guys will tell me, "You're weakling play the game the right way!" I don't owe these guys anything, I'll play MY GAME, MY WAY (I mean yours CDPR but you get the point LOL). If I wanna have fun with the money exploits, I'll have fun with the money exploits and none of these strangers behind keyboards can do s*** about it.

You have my sincere gratitude for this game, truly, CDPR. As your new fan, as your new supporter, this is the only thing I ask. And I believe I'm not the only one. Because, it goes back to the roots of WHY WE REALLY PLAY VIDEOGAMES: WE WANNA HAVE FUN. This is one way for that. Please don't take it away.

Thank you, CDPR.

They should fix bugs.

Some of the fun is the challenge in earning that gold or finding that treasure.

Abuse, exploit only ruin for yourself and I do not by accident come over a exploit, bug that ruins my challenge. Ruins my game.

No one forces you to use the exploits. If they are made public and you can't control yourself, start taking responsibility instead of nagging CDPR to fix it.

exploits are unintended, therefore they are bugs and should be fixed. If you want to cheat do it yourself with cheat codes n shit.

Well, this thread is a little unusual.
I gather that the topic relates to the fact that some people have found fast ways of making in-game money and other items?
@GlGAHEART - I very much doubt if anybody, anywhere, is seeing any possibility that fixing this (if it's something that needs fixing) is going to result in microtransactions, so you may want to just relax and enjoy the game.

@May17th - If it gets fixed, (note the word "if") it won't be because it's a cheat, or an exploit, or anything else of that nature, but will be because the developers think it's a bug and unbalances the game. This is a single-user game, the concept of exploits and cheats doesn't really apply here.

Who are you cheating? Yourself?

I would assume that a statement saying that a single player game doesn't have cheats would only come from someone who usually plays multiplayer.

+1, no need to fix any money exploit, no that I know there is one.

For those guys saying it will ruin my experience, why do you even care what my experience is? And it is not like you have to use the exploits. You have a choice. Just like you can kill yourself by jumping off a building. It is also a choice.

Exploits = taking advantage of a bug
Bugs = needs to be fixed

Instead of relying on exploits, are there console commands you can take advantage of?
I do this with Pillars of Eternity when I'm just a little short on gold and I'm pressed for time.

Well now.. Kill yourself by jumping off a building..... I experienced that once by mistake and somehow.... it was fun.. no idea why , but that once made me want Geralt try it over and over.. and after 30 deaths I was satisfied .

(not talking to you below this line, talking to all)
As for Exploits/Cheats.... each on his own.. use them if you want, dont use them if you dont want. But dont force your own opinions to others. I myself dont use them if that matters. Not that I found any.

What if they add new difficulty with perma-death and leaderboards?

I am confused because the Op seems to have conflated two separate issues. How is fixing exploits tied in ANYWAY to micro-transactions or DLCs?

No, it comes from someone who is a modder and who exclusively plays single-player games. And therefore doesn't view this as "cheating" or "exploiting". It's down to personal choice. If you want to play it unbalanced, you can. Nobody is being forced to do it, nobody loses out by NOT taking advantage of it.

Then they'd need to do something. But they haven't added that difficulty, or leaderboards, so it's not really relevant.

I won't judge anyone for using the exploit. Do you want, I say. But, I won't use it.

Scraping by is the life of a Witcher. And needing money further justifies my approach to obeying the first rule of being a Witcher.

Never work for free.

Well, speaking as someone who's a tad older than the target audience, Snapper, Elite (the original), bouncing babies and other such gems all had cheats... and they were long before any multiplayer ever showed up. Well, other than muds. Cheating is what it is *shrug* ;)

Wow, you are old, I had to look that one up. BBC Micro or Acorn? I hated the BBC, it was so... so... The Acorn was nice though, although I preferred the Apple II. (I was working for a company that sold them at the time, which helped).

And yes, I'll give you that we did call them Cheats in those days, but only when you modified the code. I don't remember using the term Exploits...

Actually., the BBC was an Acorn machine if I remember right. Acornsoft where the company behind snapper though. Well done on finding that one. Most only know it as pacman lol

I had the Acorn Atom prior to the beeb though, so I played (as much as we could back then) on that too.

Exploits/cheats, pretty much of a muchness really. Terminology changes with time and what was once thought of as cheating now becomes 'using the environment' for example.

I'm just old and like playing the way these things were intended. I prefer the challenge rather than finding the loopholes :)

Granted, I am going through this on normal first to work out how the combat and such works, then when I have dione that, I will replay on the hardest level to give me sometihng to get my teeth into :)
