Quite frankly, I couldn't care less for all the combat features. I just want a proper RPG experience. I don't care for looter shooter games at all.
I dont know if you'll find many who find the lack of choice preferable. It certainly does have choice, and points of reflection where you have to think about what kind of person V is, and do you want to do the right thing or not. And right for who exactly? And so on.
But there are long, long stretches of linearity, and sometimes the illusion of choice seems paper thin. Its best not to load/reload and break the illusion.
