Developers deserves the highest praise possible

After playing for some 20 hours, just reaching level 7 during the quest "Wandering in the dark" I'm flabbergasted over the level of detail and sofistication this game achieves. Voice acting and dialogue is simply astounding. The mentioned quest, by itself, easily trumps some earlier experiences with whole games from others. And so much more yet to come, I have a hard time grasping it.

In real life, from an early age, I have always had a hard time remembering faces and to some extent personalities (especially bland ones). I can safely say that I probably remember and can relate to 90% of the characters I met so far in Witcher 3. That in itself is a miracle, one I'm truly grateful to be able to experience.

I can see, hear and feel the love that's gone into this game, something I'm not used to experiencing anymore at 50 years of age and a ton of games through the years. Many so called AAA titles have seriously gone downhill in quality during the last 5 years or so, thankfully some indies have saved the day through kickstarter but then comes CD Projekt Red, after revving up with Witcher 1 & 2 and obliterates the competition and shows what can be done if you love making games before everything else.

The world is so very alive, and I have to say, the most beautiful women ever in a game, but still very different from each other. There is something for everyone! It's also never just a pretty face, there's always a great story to be had and sometimes be involved in.

You set the standard for years to come, but I hope you don't feel intimidated by what you've achieved like some other studios have and crumbled because of it. Bide your time, don't rush, never lose your love for the craft of telling great stories through games and the gamers will reward you when your next game comes out, be it in 5 or 10 years. I'm sure I will.

The devs have done an incredible job alright, this game is so detailed and immersive. CD ProjektRED are amazing.

(Not paid, nor affiliated by CDPR in any way. Just someone who appreciates damned fine work). ;)

Yeah, CDPR deserves all the praise for making (at least mine) game of the year.

however they also deserve some criticism.

They lied to us about no downgrade. Even though final game looks breathtakingly good and amount of screenshots I have taken is too damn high, they downgraded some aspects (fire, ligting system, infamous cornerstones) and lying about about those doesn't really show respect for gamers.

In recent review (eurogamer I think) they spoke openly about that and it was right decision. As I see it, everyone makes mistakes and we can and should forgive those as long as they learn from them.

Can't say anything against that. I'm only a few hours in and I can safely say: Better than TW1 and TW2 in MANY aspects (maybe except for Alchemy)

Yeah, the attention to detail in this game is insane. Literally insane. I don't know how what they've done here is even possible. Did anyone at CDPR sleep over the last 4 years?
