I think both systems are ok, but i think using the medallion in TW2 makes more sense to me than in TW1, i never used the Medallion there.

I like both. The only thing that is super annoying is how Geralt actually stops when he touches his medal! Why so? I mean for a guy who has high reflexes and so on, he can't walk and touch a medal at the same time? It makes no logical sense. Also, he should be able to touch it even in combat!

I would like a mix between W1 and W2 medallion. For example, in magic zones, in W1 the medallion started to vibrate (the animation). In witcher 2 that doesnt happens. We just see a stupid focus animation. And worst, it doesnt work at all. In w1, when we were near a monster or a magic treat the medallion started to vibrate, but in witcher 2 it doesnt happens. For example, Geralt says that his medallions vibrate when he is near anezka, but that actually doesnt happens.

Oh, I agree with this part. It just interrupts the flow of the game that he actually has to stop every time he uses it - I wish you could just pop it while in motion.

You are SO right!
Of course this ties in with all my complaints about the motion nerfs and this one really doesn't make an iota of sense.

I sometimes stumble into a hornets nest, so to say, when I try to activate the medallion in town and Mr. witcher draws his sword instead (gamepad). The guards are onto him and of course he stubbornly doesn't sheathe his sword again, however much I flail and beg, so we have to run away, embarrassed...

The name toggle in TW1 sure was more convenient, but the medallion in TW2 is a lot more immersive, assorted annoyances notwithstanding. So I guess both have their merit.

The new system doesn't bother me.
What really bothers me is that there are quite a few 'containers' that lit up using the amulet but cannot be reached and therefore cannot be looted.

I heard that those are the ones holding really special items, like armors with totally unique modells and such.

...kidding.

Well, those are minor faults in the level design. There is probably just junk in those anyway. ;)

Yes I know...
But what if they really contain such items!

Kidding!

... but... what if?!

Or it was a deliberate design choice, a metaphor of Geralt's memory.

I think they should shorten the charge time for medallion and I keep hoping for a modder to do this.

the medallion has more of a role and purpose in witcher 2 unlike in witcher 1 where it just vibrates around monsters and magic. i liked what they did with it though it took a while getting used to it. i loved to destroy monsters with traps and the medallion helped me collect a huge no in flotsam, used to run around with 20 traps in my inventory, place all of them in front of me and taunt monsters like endrenga queens to come after me and its like the monsters walked into my own personal mine feild

If you could just use it while running that would make my pain with the medallion go away.

I hadn't really thought about that aspect. Now I'm truly annoyed.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention so I can be annoyed in anticipation. Fortunately I am running around in TW1 so I can practice my 'z' button mash.

Forgot to say, in TW1 I had Alt as the highlight button and Tab for sheathing swords. As you can imagine I mashed the Alt button a lot and Alt-tabbed out of the game numerous times :D

I dont mind the medallion system.

But I think the effect needs to last a little bit longer and the cool down a little bit shorter

I think it's right as it is.
I liked the way they implemented it, and how it stimulates you to explore several areas :)

Yes its incredibly annoying.

The way TW1 handled it was far better.

IMO it feels as if the devs have gone for a more realistic approach to it at the expense of fun gameplay.

At first I thought it would bother me, because I liked the highlighting in W1, but then I got used to it, forgot all about it and just enjoyed the game.
I can see why they changed it, because players don't really explore anything anymore, when every item is always displayed anyway. They probably wanted the world to be more interesting and I think it worked.

I'd prefer I didn't have to use the medallion and wait for it to recharge all the time but I got used to it. I had used the permanent item names on screen option in TW 1. I haven't checked the mods section for this. There is a possibility that there is a mod for it but I don't know. Though new system makes more sense, all in all this is a video game. I'd still prefer items to be permanently visible on the screen either with their names or orange glow.

Use of the medallion in TW2 is clever, but cool down needs to be half as long. There is no reason to wait just so you can loot something.
