Disable controller detection

Due to disability I use Xpadder to bind keyboard keys to the few buttons I can use. But the game dectects the controller and makes it impossible for me to play.

Is there a way to disable detection? If not could we get a menu option to disable it? I know it's a long-shot but might as well ask.

do a search and replace in my documents\input.settings for those, and replace them with IK_None (make a backup first).

can't say this will solve the issue, might just be a giant waste of time. just wondering.

not sure how this will work with xpadder. if it emulates a gamepad, then no, since it will basically unbind all the gamepad keys. might disable the gamepad though, not sure.

Hi, I am also in the same boat as you Vaaros, due to having one arm I use Xpadder as well for all my games. Usually starting the games without controller plugged in works as they don't detect once in game. But Witcher 3 seems to recognize live...

Have you found a solution yet by any chance?

Cheers.

I'm way late, but I came across this looking for a way to disable controller support and I think I may have found it. Here is code to a customized input_qwerty.ini file:

hastebin.com/idazagiyox.ini

The input_qwerty.ini file is found in:

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\config\r4game\legacy\base

PLEASE CREATE A BACKUP OF THE FILE BEFORE DOING THE FOLLOWING:

Replace all the code in you current file with the one found in that website. Just delete everything and paste what's there.

You will also have to delete: input.settings found at Documents\The Witcher 3

Please backup that file as well. I did a little testing with xpadder and it seems to work. Note that the controller will still function on the main screen, but should not function in game and you are free to bind buttons with xpadder.

Don't worry about input.settings being deleted a new one will be generated from input_qwerty.ini. Just please back it up first if something goes wrong.

I've recently returned to the game only to find that my work around no longer works in the menus. Which again makes it unplayable.
Is there any way to stop the detection in the menus?

We've had a small handful of reports about this over time. It seems that anti-virus/-malware/-spyware can sometimes intercept the .DLL hooks for certain controllers, mice, or keyboards. Try disabling your security software and playing offline to see if that fixes it. Not a guaranteed fix, but it's worked for some. Comodo, Norton, McAfee, and other such "invasive" programs are the most likely to cause this.

Or, as @obiyer suggests above, you can try to replace the config files with something more "universal" if you have a more obscure brand of controller.

Last suggestion for the moment is to re-install DriectX, .NET Framework, Visual C++, and Visual Studio. Installing DirectX 9.0c is also a good idea.
