[DISCUSSION] Witcher 3 - Reviews

Thx to CDPR!
The world is so coherent/brilliant,like i have not seen for a long time. The Graphics on PC got drastically improved with the dayone-patch and look awesome. But,most important, the stories, the storytelling and the appropriate Music makes the game that immersive, that i can barely stop to play. And i say that as a gaming-veteran,i play games since 1985.

I simply loved the storyline. Usage of mythology and folklore is stunning. The best game I've ever seen.
Goes 10/10 for me!

Right so Jim Sterling has given the game an 8.5. His main complaints were of a technical nature and how the menus were designed, saying you have to go through several screens to read a quest essential book or note. He also complains that the world is too cluttered with trees and carts just getting in the way. Finally he complains of long loading times, LOADING TIMES in a game that barely has any!! He was playing on an Xbox One version by the way. On PC we can just go straight to the inventory screen with a hotkey, loading times are vastly reduced and there are less technical problems. So yeah from the guy that gave The Witcher 2 a 6 this is really good! Plus he says without these little problems the game would be nearly perfect (which they would mostly on PC)!!
Oh and for reference he gave Skyrim a 10.........a 10 for a game with far worse and more bugs plus a terrible inventory system and tons of messing around in menu screens! So yeah, inconsistent methinks.

But still, wasn't he the guy who said he haven't got hooked when he's tried the game a couple of weeks ago? If he still thinks the game is great, then it's a good sign.

IGN Brazil praised preety much everything. The World, the narrative, the combat, the characters...
Only negative side on the review is the bugs and some fps issues

regardless, if he truly gave skyrim a perfect rating and dares to mention inventory as a problem in the witcher, that's just hypocrisy and biased reviewing IMO.

Proof that he gave Skyrim a perfect rating!
I agree to an extent, though I really like him and tend to agree with his views on things or at least respect them. I do think he has this strange compulsion to find things not to like about all the Witcher games though, I don't get it! He did say he really loves it though, like REALLY loves it, so that's pretty impressive in itself!

In my opinion a complex inventory goes hand in hand with a complex RPG, so this side effect is inevitable (besides, I didn't feel bad about it yet).
I just played some first hours.
The tutorial was nice, I first tried to use the keyboard as I did in the witcher 2, but they changed some keys what confused me a lot, so I decided to try out the gamepad and after some time I got quite used to it.
I have to play on the lowest possible graphic settings, but even now it already looks quite nice. Sadly my pc crashes whenever I try to dive into the water, but well, that's just my pc's fault^^ In 2 days I'll have a new notebook (was about time) and can hopefully play it on high graphic settings then - looking forward to it.
The prologue in white orchard is already huge. I spent already like 5 hours, running around, exploring all the spots marked on the minimap.
I am playing on the highest difficulty level. I also played the witcher 2 on dark mode, but I have to say, I died like 100 times already, to simple creatures such as drowners or ghouls, not to mention wraiths... but no problem, I'll handle it^^ The only thing I don't like about this difficulty level is that I don't regenerate automatically... This simply means I have to eat and drink all the time which is a bit annoying.
The character system seems really slow to me, I don't know how many hours it takes until I can finally use the alternative igni sign^^
But whatever - If this prologue is already so huge, I don't doubt I'm gonna spend years exploring the skellige isles and the mainland around novigrad and oxenfurt! :p
I hope everyone just enjoys as much as I do^^

You can go to the inventory straight up on the PS4 as well by pressing and holding the touchpad. Sterling's arguments are totally worthless.

@Bloede_Dhoine I don't know what it takes to get on Metacritic but I see my share of unprofessional reviews there. Just browsing the internet you see a ton of perfect scores not getting on Metacritic.

[h=1]Can you tell me how each of the different critics are weighted in your formula?[/h]Absolutely not.

They change it from time to time.

...So I just came across this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIeEZeKN8JE

How the f*cking hell does he have so many subscribers (I just checked his MKX review as well, no comment - note: I haven't played a MK game since MK3)?!
Stuff like this is just downright infuriating for me. :realmad:

This seems weird to me. If they consider less professional sites then big and reputable ones like IGN Brasil should also be taken into consideration.

Stumbled upon this recently, he didn't even scratch the surface of the game and literally his only argument was that combat is bad and a few stupid nitpicks completely irrelevant to the overall scope of the game.

I have only played 12 hours so far, just got out of Prologue and Wizima, and I can already tell this is the best game ever made - perfect fusion of story and exploration packed in the most beautiful graphics ever. I am just mind blown here. CDP you wizards.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ Review: An Ambitious & Messy RPG Masterpiece

Great and fair review. Copied text for those on slow dialups

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a glitchy, unpolished, and occasionally frustrating mess. It’s also one of the best – if not the best – role-playing games of all time.
Let’s talk about stories.

He need to tell on which platform he reviewed it because as far as my experience goes I didn't encountered any game breaking or disturbing issues and he didn't focused on game's more positive points except maybe story telling and questing which shows how biased he is, why didn't he mentioned how fun it is to explore the open world ? and how technically impressive it is, why no praise for extreme attention to character detail, great starting tutorial, sounds, dialogs, monster design etc and those are just few good things.

Also he completely failed to explain what made the game so "glitchy, unpolished, and occasionally frustrating mess" for him other than weak points like he don't like the camera movement, inventory management and controls, those things are purely subjective and doesn't make the game unpolished or anything close.

It's not a fair review (if it's worthy of being called a review that is), it's more like biased ranting sugar coated with some positive points here and there.
