District feature: Badlands

Badlands are the vast plains just outside of Night City. Sparsely populated by Nomads, they make the city proper seem like a lush oasis in comparison. Still, this place’s got plenty of life left in it, as well as heaps of golden opportunities for those in the know. Wherever you choose to head out here, you’re bound to run into quite a few surprises — unless they run into you first.

You see, Nomads aren’t the only ones who call Badlands their home. Wraiths, a gang made up of exiles from local tribes and families also live here, and are the main reason behind the disappearances of many a corporate transport. Everybody knows that crossing into their territory without an armed escort — and a small army — is just asking for trouble.

Unchecked resource extraction and derelict oilfields dominate in the north. The east, wastelands full of chemicals and landfills reign supreme. Acid rains resulting from the massive pollution guarantee nothing will ever grow here anytime soon, perhaps ever, while the winds carrying the unbearable stench make sure that Night City doesn’t forget this place exists.

Finally, there’s the desert to the south. It owes its much less apocalyptic vibe to the many Biotechnica protein farms, as well as the Jackson Plains power plant. You might even go as far as to think it’s safe around here, but let your guard down for a second and it’ll eat you up alive.

The art, so far, is looking good. But at this point in time I wish it was replaced with in game screenshots.
And if the screenshots are not from the final game build have big red letters on them with "Does not represent the final look of the game". Or something along those lines.
It is sad to still see only concept art when we are not that far away from launch.

Should it really look like a mix of Fallout and Mad Max? Because it does. Not that I'm complaining since I see CP2020's wasteland the same, just a bit cybered up. It's just a rather pleasant suprise.

Might be safer in the desert, only dust to judge your sins
'cause in Heaven - well, the House always wins...

Maybe we will see a Lucky 38 in the city...

I wonder how much will we have to deal with the Wraiths businesswise (i.e. doing quests/errands for them) :think: They don’t sound very welcoming to strangers.

Definitely not a good place to be. It's literally in the name.
Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a place by its name :p

The landscape of Badlands is pretty awesome, and it's an great place to visit:

Only my Nomad V will love this place , no place like home .

I didn`t realize there was still oil in the world :shrug: Is it rare ? Why the change to Choo if there`s still oil around ?

I'm just guessing but, I assume that specific liquid\chemical Choo made oil for vehicles in the Cyberpunk universe obsolete and worthless.

I have this wiki link: CHOOH2. And this Countdown to the Dark Future one.

#countdowntothedarkfuture - list from R. Talsorian Games without users commentary;
countdowntothedarkfuture a year of cyberpunk lore - a list on this forum with users commentary, made by Sardukhar;
night city districts - a list with all the districts, made by the same blue law enforcer.

You completely missed the point of my post.
You mean, how you made the good italic to make your point? Yeah, that was a great play on words. SMH. If anyone missed a point, it's you....

But I digress... I'll just remember to use more obvious ways to indicate a joke when quoting you, since emojis obviously don't work... especially, if you just gonna delete them when quoting me.
