Sadly, Larian won't likely meet the goal. They aren't a well known AAA studio. Correction: they aren't a well known, AAA North American studio.

Why do you think only AAA Ameircan studios get attention on Kickstarter? If anything, they probably don't even come to Kickstarter to begin with :) I really don't like the AAA term, it sounds like a battery to me, hehe. I never understood what it has to do with games ;)

Anyway, to help them - just spread the word. Mention that they plan the Linux version too. Linux users like more native Linux games, and many would gladly support the project, if they'd know about its existence.

And their timing couldn't be worse. They've started their campaign while two other big WRPG campaigns are going and on the same day Battlefield 4 and MGS5 got revealed, so they've received no coverage from the "big" websites.

They're already at 103k :D/>/>

Anomalous kickstarter curve, ahoy!

Edit: Make that 130k! I'm confident this will make it :)

Well perhaps I'm wrong, that's a decent start. Swen and company seem like the kind of chaps I'd like to sit down and a few few beers with.

If this pace is kept they'll reach their goal by Monday.

Sadly no, despite having the cajones to do this project without kickstarter's help in the first place. No digs at Obsidian, but they're already a AAA dev and they're asking for money. This would be like Bioware or Bethesda doing a kickstarter...it never made sense to me, why do they need to resort to kickstarter when they already have massive financial backing for their games....?

Unlike Obsidian, Larian really is an indie studio, and a self publisher now. If anyone deserves the cash, they do.

Did you miss Obsidian firing loads of people and removing benefits last year slim? They aren't in great financial shape.

Good interview, I like this Sven bloke.

Obsidian are an independent studio, owned by five of the workers who left Black Isle when it folded, Feargus Urquhart, Darren Monahan, and the three Chris's I believe.

Because Obsidian doesn't have massive financial backing for their games.

I like Div II, so I wouldn't have mind supporting this project, but why the isometric camera and turn-based combat? That's a bit of a turn-off.

It's isometric because it's a successor to Divine Divinity and turn-based because turn-based combat is fucking awesome.
