First of all i have no intention of insulting anyone's preferences, and i'm sorry if you felt like if i insulted yours. Second of all, i'd like to point out my other point about Torchlight again... Isometric games isn't necessarily easier or cheaper to make. You do realize, this being a kickstarter project, that in order for you and those who agree with you to get both options in this game, you'll have to hop on over to kickstarter and make a hefty donation, right?
Isometric view requires much less work than a fully three-dimensional engine and camera. That's just a simple fact. More work means more expenses. More expenses means they need more money, and more money means those who want this to use a 3D camera need to spend more to get this project going to that direction.
Also, I personally don't much appreciate when people insult my preferences and tastes in games with no good reason or explanation. Could we please not do that?
That's not the case for all isometric games (again with the torchlight) and it doesn't have to be like that. Most of the time they don't create one sided 3d maps because it's easier or cheaper to make, yes, it will take a bit longer, but not as long as you make it sound to be. They do so, thinking; "they wont see other side anyway. lets make it memory efficient by making maps one sided" (actual quote from one of my friends who actually made isometric games back in the day) So why make one sided maps in the first place?Yeah. It's just that the world isn't fully created. There only exists what the isometric view allows you to see. Things, such as buildings, don't for example have a "back side".
