Do I need to pre-order TW2?

I apologize if this has been asked in another thread. Feel free to move/merge if necessary. :)I'd like to purchase TW1 from GoG.com. But, it's not available until May 10. *sad* So, I'm going to purchase from Direct2Drive instead cuz I want to play now! *LOL*OK. So, here's where I'm a total newbie. The only game I've ever pre-ordered was DA2. Bioware had its customers jump hoops for in-game items and two DLCs. So, I don't know how other developers do this. I've seen all the goodies offered with the various TW2 versions. I know it says pre-order but, will the extras be available after the pre-order date? I guess I'll have enough time between now and May 17 to find out if I want to pre-order TW2. So, the question is probably moot. But, I'm curious anyway. Thanks for your patience! :)P.S. - I wish the forum had image smilies!

No need to apology, Morgora :D What do you mean "after" the pre order date?Because in the Conference they said that 90% of the game will be downloadable from May 10th so the 10% will certainly be the extra goodies.Anyway, until May 10th there's no chance to download the extras neither the game.

I think it depends on your preferences . For instance if you prefer a boxed edition that comes with all the physical goodies or the digital edition which comes with goodies but that are in digital form and which is more convenient for you .

Hmm... I'll use an example... The date is May 30 and I decide that I want to order TW2 Premium Edition. Will all the bonus content that's included now in the pre-order be available after May 17? Or, will the bonus content be available at extra cost after May 17?Additional example... With DA2, if you pre-ordered by January 11, 2011, you received the Exiled Prince DLC. If you ordered DA2 after January 11, the Exiled Prince DLC was not included with DA2. If you wanted the Exiled Prince DLC, you had to pay extra for it.Does that make sense?

I'm thinking that all the preorder bonuses for TW2 are only available if you preorder. I don't think you will get the preorder bonus if you don't preorder. Now if you're talking about the GOG version, it will always have the art book and what not included since it's part of their game package. But I don't think you'll get any preorder bonuses (the free game and can't remember what else) unless you preorder.

OK. So, if I understand correctly then, it works the same way as what Bioware did. Thank you. :)

Ah I see what you mean now, Morgora :)Yes, it's like Freakie and Boreas said: talking about GOG's version, the pre order bonus consists in the additional game on your choice. But still the game will contain the artbook, the music dvd, the papercraft pdf etc.Talking about the retail, I think that if you buy the game after May 17th is it possible that it won't have the DLC. But I'm not sure.

In my region the retail boxed version usually has a lower price than the NA price.New PC games are usually priced at around 35USD here as opposed to 50/60USD in NA.So I never buy anything digital as they always come with the NA or Europe price. And they don't have any distributor here in Hong Kong that provides preordering so I'll have to wait for the retail date.

I know this doesn't help you now, but the digital distribution site Direct2Drive had a 30% off sale last weekend. If you preordered TW2 you got it for $35 USD :)
