the fact that its impossible to create old v is just severly disappointing, i dont know why they had to redesign the character creation

at this point i'd rather just play the 2018 demo and roam around

Can you imagine being allowed an NPC you can customize to go on your adventures with? Similar to Dragons Dogma, but while the Tiger Claws were driven out from "The Clouds" they took with them tech to expand a new business operation selling dolls as "NPC companions." You have full control over perks and appearance.

I could listen to the voice actress who does V all day long. I actually find her voice very sexy. But, yes, DA had options for male and female voices which was a nice touch. Considering how long this game was in development, you could have had a platoon of actors doing their own version of V leaving you with many options.

I was both impressed and let down by character creation. I'm glad the developers allowed for nudity and even let you adjust certain aspects of that, but I agree with many here that there are some options are way too thin. There needs to be more variance of tattoos and the like. I may just want an arm tattoo or a tramp stamp on my V. I was a bit surprised when I cycled through the limited selection.

Then there is all the stuff that got removed in the 11th hour. It's the kind of thing that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

It feels like they were just checking a box rather than trying to give characters a chance to be truly creative. We can pick out genital size but can't be more muscular? That is just dumb IMO

Yup, install gorilla arms, but still got a body, and particularly chicken legs. Every male character looks like a gecko with how flat and skinny they are.

the customization of the main character in the game is terrible, both the mechanics itself and the appearance. As if I'm playing on Nintendo Switch.

CC is "okay." Many more options like tattoos, piercings, hair colors, skin blemishes/scars, etc would be nice.

The main issue is that there is desperately needed some way to modify character looks after creation. Any Ripperdoc should be able to do a little body sculpting in 2077.

It went part way towards what I expected. On first glance it looked like it was going to be good, at least akin to Skyrim and hopefully more, but once you got inside and saw that there were no sliders and it was all numbered options, and how little real choices there were (or none) for most body areas, this is where the disappointment set in.

Firstly modders have already commented on how the Cyberpunk2077 bodies are made, pointing out the lack of meshes and flexible structure to adapt later, and also how limited the number of slots are to carry clothing, accessories and options in very limited areas, for example, there are only inner/outer torso, one head slot, one face slot etc.

What we needed to see from a supposedly ground breaking game developed in full knowledge of what has gone before with other titles was a revolutionary level of body creation, such as at least a combination of Caliente and BodySlide functionality or even better. Instead, the level is a lot less even than games decades older like Skyrim and less than Entropia Universe. 'What were they doing all those years' was my first thought...

Missing stuff and criticisms include:

  • Body Sliders..in every area- the numbered presets should only have been optional to a manual slider system
  • No body height, weight, width, arm widths, shoulders, legs, calves, hips, widths, hand size, arm length, foot sizes, cannot choose player from petite ultra slim, to large, as NPCs look.
  • Female breast sizes limited to only two choices, one tiny, one small, this needed to be FAR greater variances with sliders allowing anything from flat to ‘superboob’ sizes.
  • No inbuilt body physics (bounce); a game this developed should have had them included from outset
  • Head and face needed far more variations, nose, forehead, jaw, skull, and cheekbones, angles and sizes
  • Bodies and clothing not integrated to adapt to your chosen shape in game (example chest defaults to smallest option)
  • No clothing body attachment slots for jewellery, accessories, multiple arm and leg attachments, belts, gloves, multiple face attachments, neck, eyes, hips, separate left and right arms and leg slots, spine, shoulders, back, pelvis, and more (Second Life avatars had all this and more since 2003!!)
  • Cyberwear installed does not affect appearance in game, apart from arms, where was the rest of stuff like optics and exoskeleton or bolt-ons which would affect external looks?
  • In-game post creation body editing either direct or via 'body shop/hair/beauty' stores
  • No MOD Support tools – this is crucial and would have been expected from outset to allow creative improvements and infinite avatar variety from modding resources.

It's ridiculously limited, no full customization just a few presets for facial features. And what I miss mostly is body customization. There should be so many options on that in a cyberpunk world. But even without that I want the ability to change V's height, and physique, at least by using presets.

Every game dev should take a long and hard look at the character creator of APB, that should be your starting point. Yes it is over a decade old, and still hasn't been surpassed, shame.

The best part is when you're fighting Razor. I laughed, because it breaks immersion. So all you need by the games logic is Gorilla arms. All the probably hundreds of thousands this guy spent on his body was a waste of time. And no, the "Abs is his weak point" doesn't work. That was a last minute insert. Because they saw how dumb you look towards him. I intentionally lost the mission and never reloaded. I made my V more realistic that way.

I don't necessarily want to look like Sasquatch, but it's crazy how the only main NPC that isn't a skinny gecko is River Ward while the rest of the males are all skinny and flat assed. Guess all the assets went toward making Panam and Judy's skin tight porn star booty and huge hips.

At the ending I just laugh at how ugly your legs look when you get out of bed and how old your knees look and how the knees are as wide as your skinny thighs and calves. Kerry in a speedo also looks like a gecko. Somehow he seems to lose musculature when he strips any clothes.

Male V looks like an absolute dork in most armor, it's so baggy and raggedy.

In regards to the boxing quests, crazy how variable the results are based on how you cheese their AI with movement. Entire matches I could dive in and out with heavy strikes, but any match in which I couldn't keep them staggered they go into this stagger immune kick combo animation that you can't even block or parry and lose immediately 80% of your health or trigger biomonitor.

Felt really cheap because I was encouraged to just keep them staggered while using distance to deny the AI the kick combo animation. And without a gorilla arms build in Very Hard the enemies were complete health sponges that took forever to take down while a single landed kick or two ended your healthbar at 20 body.

With Razor took 2 matches. First match he spammed his stagger immune jump and punch. Second match I just cheesed with heavy strike into backing out to see if they staggered and go in to punch if they stagger. Kept him staggered the whole match, through his 70% HP heal reset, he didn't even take me below 50% or trigger biomonitor at Very Hard. It's all about the AI cheese.

I do. Because that makes it actually realistic. If you're going to fight against Razor. Who looks insane. You have to be built like that. Whenever I fight Kill Bane or any other muscle/big character in Saints Row. I change or have the character built like a tank from the start. To make those fights look believable. And not have them look like sticks. Saints Row, of all games, gives good realism in this area. A lot of the gang members who act as the house muscle. Will look the parts. If it was a normal fight with weapons. That's a different argument. But this is pure melee combat. You need to look the part, or I lose immersion. So for me, I had no other choice but to lose the Razor fight. Mind you, I already wanted to abandon the beat missions at Rhino's stage. Cause I was like. Yeah, my V's totally gonna beat her. I only continued it because of a bug clearing her after the assassination mission.

Well, if that were the case, killing Adam Smasher wouldn't physically be believable either if you're not built like a tank. I just assume the cyberware you have gives you enough force to cause damage regardless of body mass, which is true in principle when you consider a 5'4 woman can still stab a 6'3 man fatally or shoot him because body mass only does so much.

I could do with something closer like Emerick the bodyguard from Afterlife.
