Do you play without the HUD ?

Best way (imo) .. not knowing enemies & bosses health is a great challenge, but most of all seeing the game world on a full screen without the clutter of the HUD is such a better experience. I have to admit though I do leave the witcher bar on so I can know my health, but it only shows during combat or when its getting lower.

I kept Geralt's bars and the mini map. It's quite good like that, though a button to toggle the mini-map would be really great!
Hiding the controls hints and the enemies health bar & level is definitely the best way to make it more immersive :teeth:

I do... Now if Reds could only patch in the option(s) to turn off ALl the darn button prompts e.g talk/gather herbs/examine/loot/finisher icons etc.. It would be Great.

It's perfect when going through a town on horesback, with the npc names off because you can't see the stupid talk bubbles and button icon prompts as you pass by people and things, but as soon as you're on the ground again walking around in town or in the wild, all that damn stuff pops up in your face at every turn. I wish it was all hidden like it is while on horse, because I like to play on foot mostly.

I do, i only leave the minimap on because it's quite cumbersome to everytime open up menu to look at it, delay and all.
It would be nice to have a toggle option, like with a quick button or somesuch.
Or directly to open up the world map easily.

agree with you here, what I'd like to see implemented is dots on the horizon so you can just run or ride to it. A yellow dot for current objectives and a green dot for waypoint marker. Maybe even use witcher sense for them to show up. But like you say, a quick button/toggle option for the map would be great. I play without the minimap whatsoever so another option would be very welcomed

I also tried playing without the minimap, but just like the newest ES, the quests are built with an extremely extensive use of compass and minimap in mind, so much so they don't even give you clues as location of stuff sometimes, so it becomes just frustrating in some situations.

I then switched to minimap always ON for lack of middle options, but especially for those playing on a plasma like me, it's also not very good for the panel, due to possible retention issues. Thankfully there's often cutscenes/meditation/whathaveyou interrupting the image, so it's a very minor issue.

Still a quick toggle option would be best. I find tracking and traveling in third person to be much harder than first, so I'm unable to just open the map and then mentally plan my voyage. Also, the roads in Witcher 3 are realistically uneven and curvy, and there's abundant vegetation/hills/bumps and lack of land markers (again very realistic), making it ever harder (unlike let's say Skyrim, where it's easy to travel the world without any map at all after a few hours)

Do you think it it possible to tweak the game files to make the mini-map behave like the witcher's bars? It would have to show up under specific circumstances, like when a defined key is pushed instead of when a combat begins. Pretty hard coding I suppose XD.

Health status displays during combat, timers for potions display and horse stamina/fear but that's it.

Disabling the minimap was what made the difference and made the game much more enjoyable and naturally flowing - until the levelling gets in the way AGAIN.

We need a compass mod, Fallout/Skyrim like, instead of minimap.

On Xbox one I turned the hud to size small. (The default is large but takes up too much of the screen imo) Turned off the tips on the bottom right.

AND THE NUMBER 1 THING I RECOMMEND IS >>>>>>>>>> Turn off the subtitles for cut scenes.

Playing without HUD definitely enhances the experiences. Hunting monsters, for sure.

I just recently found this out myself, the subtitles are turned off in the 'Language' option. Finally I can stop reading the darn things.

Another option for the minimap would be just the dots showing and not the round minimap itself, sorta like the GTA game map options

I just play without right side screen stuff. Nomap, hints, quest.

I've disabled the minimap and the control hints.

I tried to play without HUD, but it annoys me to use the main map to find special npc's and quest directions.
I would love to have a toggle minimap on/off button and a disable HUD shortcut button (also handy for making screenshots).
I would also love to be able to rearrange the HUD elements, especially the buffs and debuffs.

Nice idea about rearranging. I think removing minimap made whole lot of sense on 70" projector. I just try to remember where to go and it feels really immersive

Havent tried to keep minimap but remove everything from it. I think Morrowind was like that.
