Do you think Phantom Liberty will be worth the price? Reasons?

Difficulty is irrelevant with Maxtac. They stated as such during the stream. Whether you're on the easiest or hardest, Maxtac has one difficulty level and is meant to obliterate you.

That is, in my opinion, exactly as it should be too.
In theory it always had to be like this, if we analyze the lore of maxtac a little we realize how far the game and even the anime ones are from being like in the lore, it is mentioned that they have the best cybernetics however You don't see any of them carrying gorilla arms or projectile cannons on their arms, even taking into account that he talks about 'the best cybernetics' that would mean that the implants he mentioned shouldn't be much. although of course to adapt maxtac as in lore would require a hard job, an AI and tactics at another level that would represent them correctly. This is also seen in edgerunners since in the game, although they can only use it to dodge bullets and chase you, they have the sandevistan, something that is not seen in the anime, in fact at first glance none of them seem to even have implants when in the lore is talked about 'the best cybernetics' among them the decentralized heart. Just imagine a maxtac agent with subdermal armor, arm cannon, decentralized heart, sandevistan and more, capable of using it just like a player, that would be much more in line with the lore. I hope that in cyberpunk orion maxtac will be adapted as in the lore.

I will be going in day one regardless. Just seeing the gameplay and doing some research it would indicate it will be more successful than their previous one. They know they can't afford to mess it up since they can't afford to burn their reputation twice and have all those memes come in. I'm just a huge fan of their work and the game for me was always kind of good despite the launch day's bugs which I was not super affected by but some stuff was definitely not right. Ahem, the police was brutal at spawning behind you back then and T poses but I still loved the experience and didn't feel ripped off like I did with lets say 80 euros Diablo 4
Anyways I'll keep supporting and hopefully, this is not the complete end of Cyberpunk, I know they will focus more on new witchers and whatnot.

Back here. Imo, thirty bucks is fine. I'd pay the long-waited Ion Fury expansion that much.
Tho, paying it early is a no-no. They have to put it out and prove it's working first.

I have spoken.

They've confirmed that there will be at least a second Cyberpunk and they plan to work on it in parallel with The Witcher, so for now it doesn't seem like they plan to abandon it.
Ah! Great news! :) Admittedly I did lots of research when I was waiting for the next, didn't know that though so thanks for the info. Is there any source too just curious?

With the confirmation of Unreal Engine 5 being the future engine of CDPR titles; this brings me to a thought. As we know, it will be at least two years before we get Cyberpunk 2. What if CDPR, were to re-release Cyberpunk, but with Unreal Engine 5 design? I have never used Unreal Engine, so I'm unfamiliar with the transfer process. Would it take CDPR long to transfer and rebalance the current Cyberpunk game into Unreal Engine 5? If this is possible, it would be a big treat to tie us over, during our wait for Cyberpunk 2?

It could probably be done but it would take ages to do. Guessing some things are incompatible and some things have to be remade, will probably depends on what tech is used and so on too. Think cyberpunk 2 is gonna arrive before they could convert 2077 to UE5.

After recent information has come out the answer to me has become yes - hence my pre-order. Why do I think so?

  1. Review codes are apparently going out weeks early, which seems to show CDPR is confident, unlike the base game where they gave them to reviewers and stuff like the same day as the release, just a few hours before launch.
  2. The feature list is pretty crazy for an expansion for any game.
  3. The advertising mentions 'dozens' of new quests and stuff like that. Even if some of these are shallow gigs that ends up being a ton of additional content and CDPR typically delivers with story based content.
  4. This IP is valuable to them and they are going to do what they can to try to salvage it. The anime gave them a good boost - if they deliver with this game then the sequel should have a lot of the negativity wiped away when it ultimately comes out.
  5. This game was in development for something like 3-4 years. I think as Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield showed recently - these newer, massive games (especially with COVID factored in) really need(ed) about six years... and they will now have had about six years with the game.
  6. The expansion has been in development as long as some AAA titles in general are in development. If they do not deliver after working on an expansion for three years - then CDPR as a developer can pretty much be written off as "dead", so to speak.

I'm more interested in when the 2.0 update is actually dropping. I know it's supposed to come out BEFORE Phantom Liberty but I've seen no date nor heard anything from CDPR on the release. Did I miss something? Anyone know?

There is no official date for 2.0's release.

But CDPR stated no earlier than 90 days from, I think, June 10/11 if I recall correctly. Which brings us to September 9/10. That's your release window right there. Somewhere between the 9 and PL's release date on the 26.

During the last stream, they said "a bit before Phantom Liberty".
Then at the end of the stream "just before, few days, a week... who know".
So no, you don't miss anything, no date yet :)

After pausing on my favorite mission, via VODOO BOYS; there are a few things to consider. Will this truly have a different impact on the way people play? Does it add replay value? And is there enough in there to keep gamers entertained. Considering the rebalance of the skill tree, new cyberware and weapons; this should make a noticeable impact on the way we play starting from the beginning of each lifepath. if DOGTOWN has a lot more advanced weaponry in the black market; CDPR would have to consider the difficulty curve, once players exit DOGTOWN to pursue other side missions. So, I'd expect a lot of the enemies that we know of to be a lot harder, as they showed with MAXTAC.

Also, what decisions that we make in the gamer, impact the current narrative that we've been introduced to. I reference VOODOO BOYS because they are crucial characters that are mentioned in the corporate wars that affected PACIFICA. It has been confirmed that DOGTOWN becomes accessible once you complete the Voodoo Boys mission. But that mission alone holds a lot of weight. For those who have sided with the Voodoo Boys, you will discover that Maman Bridgett, Placid and their crew survive and let you walk freely after you've met Alt. I'd like to think this could impact their presence in PACIFICA/DOGTOWN. Also, would it give V access to exlclusive cyberware that only the Vodoo Boys have?

Even though Phantom Liberty takes place during the current narrative of the game; there are so many avenues that change, with all the new features being added.

Preordered long time ago despite swearing I wouldn't do so with the abysmal launch of the main game. That said, CDPR has proven their dedication to the game over time and has regained my trust as "one of the good ones".

It would be nice if CDPR could have adjusted the current side stories with the new update. During my current playthrough on CORPO, I got the call from Judy shortly after I talked to Johnny inside the Pistis Sophia. I'm not certain if it's consistent to get that call shortly after completing the Voodoo Boys mission inside the Chapel. Furthermore, it creates a unique experience if you side with the Voodoo Boys over NetWatch. Getting the call about Evelyn's Death shortly after leaving the Chapel, could have created a unique experience to Judy's relationship with V and Evelyn's relationship V. Judy doesn't seem to know much about the Voodoo Boys, but V does learn that they are responsible for Evelyn's involvement with the Biochip. If Judy were to discover that V took the deal from the Voodoo Boys and sided with them, it could create a fallout between her and V.

To continue my previous post, I still find it odd that the Voodoo Boys disappear from Pacifica shortly after you leave the Chapel. You can re-enter, but the underground area is no longer accessible to you. With the new expansion opening up more of Pacifica, it makes sense that our Voodoo Boys could appear again, depending on the decision you make inside the GIM. In the DOGTOWN LORE, it is stated that many of NC's gangs attempt to smuggle equipment out of Dogtown to sell and use in the established parts of Night City. Though the Voodoo Boys deal with their own tech, it's likely possible that they have their connections inside DOGTOWN. If CDPR finds a way to make the GIM decision a more critical decision of the game, I'd say it would make the DCL-expansion worth every penny.

And then what, just to run it, a complete PC upgrade with a RTX 7090 to match? No thanks. Besides, CB2077 looks fine as is.

Yes, even I don't think they're so inept as to completely hump this up. Still though, after reviews, I'll wait for a discount.

More like proven their dedication to not go out of business. Which is smart on their part.

The C$40 I spent on Cyberpunk 2077 [on sale] a couple of years ago [18 months of gameplay] has given me almost 3000 hours of enjoyment. Price/pleasure ratio off the charts. The pre-release price of Phantom is also C$40...equal to the discount I got on the original game. I don't quite feel I owe CDPR anything, but I think I'm getting a heck of a deal.. Consider that you will pay C$12 for a 2 hour movie...maybe more than twice that if you indulge yourself at the concession stand...a 2 hour movie that you might not even like by the time the credits roll....I'd say a good PC game is a far better bargain.

It would be pretty catastrophic for CDPR if they screw up Phantom Liberty really bad. I think the Cyberpunk IP would pretty much forever be tainted after that - outside of another Edgerunners type miracle.

Currently playing the game now. I've only beat the game once and that was two years ago. Other than that, I just keep play the game a little further than the Voodoo Boys mission and then I start a new one. I'm trying so hard to wait for Phantom Liberty. Did CDPR ever confirm how long they were working on Phantom Liberty? I'm almost willing to gamble that Cyberpunk fans would forgive CDPR if the new update breathes a lot of life into Night City. It's safe to say that many gamers got over the fact of features be withdrawn from the release. But pretty much the mod community created many of the notable mods to breath life into the game via apartments, clothing, character customization, phone overhaul system, etc.

If the events in DOGTOWN are critical, then we should hear NPCs around the city talking about it after the Voodoo Boys mission. I'm praying that CDPR didn't take the cheap route and isolate the expansion to just DOGTOWN. When you think about it, Pacifica should have a lot more shady NPC activity, if you decide to help the Voodoo Boys spike NetWatch. I'm expecting there to be a lot more gang activity and smuggling armed goods in and out of Dogtown.

Roslyn, I admit that this thread has gone off on several tangents, but perhaps you should make a separate thread for your Voodoo Boys theories.
