Does the sexuality [of women] in TW3 offend you?

I am over at the Bioware forums now talking about Mass Effect: Andromeda and one popular discussion there is that they do not want to see female characters sexualized. They point to how characters like Miranda, Samara, Jack, and Edi all have sexualized looks while the males don't. To me, I am not offended by this because it is just a videogame and it isn't like male characters aren't sexualized either, but for some reason, the Bioware community is very sensitive to that kind of stuff. For those of us at the Bioware forums that are not offended by it, we always mention TW3 and how CDPR manages to present a mature world that isn't afraid to have mature themes and scenes and images around sex. With that being said, what is your opinion regarding the depiction of women in Witcher games? Does it offend you? Do you think CDPR should continue on with their art-style or should they be more like Bioware and try not to offend anyone?

Thanks

Female sexualisation in the Witcher game saga makes sense in the context of a morally bankrupt world devoid of any absolute set of values.
I feel as if the games do a poor job at showing the exceptions to the general milieu though, for instance a chastly looking sorceress or Ciri herself.

People tend to just find women sexualized for being women. Only one on that list that I could plainly see being purposely sexualized is Miranda because of her very tight outfit and body beneath it. The rest imo were just women as far as I remember. Men on the other were equally sexualized in those games, and in the witcher. Dockworkers are masculine and shirtless and many other fit into the sexy stereotypes just for being as they were. Doesn't mean you have to see sex there, which I didn't, but they fit the profiles equally imo.

And no, does not offend or bother me. It isn't done cheaply and I mostly ignore or just plain don't notice that portrayal, other than perhaps that ass in White Orchard :) Which I liked to look at anyway :)

I was actually hoping to play a dark fantasy rpg with hardcore porn with a succubus, totally interactive and in first person view during the sex action and subliminal succubus summoning chanting audio also. Who knows what might happen.

I ask because I want to get a better understanding. The Bioware forums [demographic] for the lack of the better word seems very......sensitive to such issues to the point where they [Bioware] has become very politically correct in their development when it came to Dragon Age: Inquisition as DAI was a very bright and sterile world compared to DAO which was very dark.

I was wanting to know if this is just unique to Bioware or is this a new trend in the industry.

i'm in the bioware forums too, and they just like to complain and talk about everything even when they have no idea,
but no, the sexuality of women in tw3 doesn't offend me at all, that aspect it's perfectly made, and makes sense

Did you miss the whole #gamergate and #SJW huge debacle?

Nope.
Offend is a strong word.

Let's say that the only thing that bother me is Ves outfit...it's...not so pratical for combat and guerrila.

crones are sexy af

in both forms

people nowadays make way too big a deal of a bunch of professional victims being perpetually offended by normal people

Not really, I also think that most the faces of the female characters in both TW 2 and 3 are very "naturally" looking, modest, not having that "ultra photoshopped model"-look you often find in video games, especially the skin :)

I don't think women are overly sexualized, in fact you (can) help a woman become the ruler of a nation and help another one to the position of master armorer.

Though I would like female enemies, like female bandits (though they should only spawn rarely to keep it realistic), the only females I've fought so far were a scoia'tael leader and
Keira Metz
.

No.

But as a male who will see everything with the "male gaze", regardless of how it's presented, why would I be offended. That said, anyone who speaks in the pathetic self obsessed vocabulary of the self proclaimed victim, shouldn't be taken seriously. When someone starts dropping privilege this and micro-aggression that, let them stew in that toxic soup on their own.

I was offended by not being able to romance both Triss and Yennifer at the same time. I'm also offended by reality tv and boy bands but that's for another time.

There are both women and men portrayed as strong and independent and others as weak or dependent or evil, nobody has a monopoly on anything in CDPR's world.

Just my take. I laugh at people obsessed with victimization chic.

The characters, no. They are great women in a hard world. More naked women than men? Well, the main character is a man who has no troubles with his sexaulity life. No more or less than the books. (maybe less)

I'll have a definitive opinion about CDPR and they sexualization female character when I play CP77 and can customize my character. Then we will see how sexist can be CDPR's writers.

The new looks from DLC's, well that could be a fanboy candy gift.

Yeah, with SJWs feel that Bioware has been more affected by that. Even David Gaider, leader writer for Dragon Age said that he agrees with Anita Sarkeesian.

I never played the previous Witcher games nor read the books, but I am about 25% into Witcher 3 and man it is a breath of fresh air compared to DAI. Finally a videogame game that isn't afraid to be for adults. I am really big on LGBT rights and women's rights, but to me that does not mean that EVERY videogame has to have some political message tied to it. That is why I like Rockstar Games titles and even now, Witcher 3 because they aren't afraid to "go there".

Again, with SJWs, I think they are here to stay for a while, but I think Bioware has really been influenced by them and I was wanting to know if it is the same with the Witcher community.

Witcher is relatively saved fromt hat only because Sapkowski belongs to an earlier generation. Both stem from the same source though, do not be fooled.
