Why does everyone assume that Geralt is old? Witchers have a significantly longer lifespan than normal humans, something around 300 years if I'm not mistaken, and Geralt has been around only for, what, fifty years? A hundred tops. And he's not that tired. If I get it right - for at least a year he's been resting on a mystery island with Yen. Up until the Wild Hunt showed up and spoiled all the fun. In the books he's been waltzing in the woods looking for Ciri for a couple of years, mind you, so he's used to long and tiring journeys and never actually been "resting" i.e. doing nothing.

I also think "old" is the wrong adjective, it's more like he is getting tired of this shit, always fighting for others (not including family or friends) and being a pawn in the politics.

He just wants to do his witcher thing and nothing more, but the more he struggles, the more he gets involved.

Can't speak for everyone, but IMO he is. Most important he feels old.
"Blood of Elves"

Triss felt something explode inside her. Her fear of meeting the white-haired witcher, which had accompanied her throughout her journey, had struggled within her with her hope of having such a meeting. Followed by the sight of that tired, jaded face, those sick eyes which saw everything, cold and calculating, which were unnaturally calm but yet so infused with emotion...
300 years? Uh, what is your source? Vesemir was old, but there's nothing about his age in the books.

Vesemir witnessed the assault on Kaer Morhen, not the one in the games, and iirc that was already long ago at least 50-80 years, by that time the Wolf School was still training witchers, but i can't find a concrete date on Wiki for that.

Also Geralt is supposed to be (one of) the last trainee(s) of that school and Vesemir was already an old man by then.

I think it is reasonable to assume Vesemir is at least 150 years old.

Yet he never was able to do so. Somehow, from the very beginning of the first book, Geralt has been important to the history of the realm, hanging around important people doing things that would influence entire countries (enter Ciri). He was never your typical neutral-two-shoes witcher, and that's what makes him so interesting in the first place.

So in my opinion, there is a whole lot of things to show in the Witcher franchise. The third game might (and it probably will) end an epic story of war and peace, but all you have to do is to let all grandiose stuff aside and tell us a less grand, but not necessary less important story. Just like in "The Last Wish".

I know that Vesemir is quite old, but 150 is not even close to 300.

BTW - wiki is not the best source of information, because there are mistakes, opinions or even assumptions. The only reliable source is a proper novel or short story written by Sapkowski.

Yeah i know, 300 is way over the top, but i didn't want to re-read the whole book series for a number ;)

I cant tell with words that how much i want to keep playing with Geralt in this series. I'm asking it again. Can we players change this decision if we get a sign for petition or something like that?

Your post reminded me of an interview I heard years ago about a cancelled TV show. The general point of the article was that the only real way to save a cancelled show was to buy the DVD seasons. They said every show that gets cancelled gets a letter writing campaign and that amounts to zero incentive to re-up the show. That the only real way to get people at the television studio to listen was to vote with their wallets and show how much and how many people really love the show enough to buy it.

While a different form of entertainment I'd assume video games work the same way. If enough people out there bought the games 1-3 to make the Witcher series profitable enough to reevaluate ending the subject matter I'd wager that those actions would have way more impact on if the Witcher series continues over a petition or letter writing campaign or a ton of posts in their forums.

So I say the only real way players can change the decision is to get our friends/family/strangers we run into at video game stores, etc. etc. to buy the games.
