Doppler's are too powerful

So they can mimic any look, but also take on powers of the person they mimic?

I thought about that too. It sort of balanced though because they are prone to silver; if they are anywhere near the cups for example they would be caught. That's how they got the guy who burned at the stake for impersonating the city guard leader (don't remember his name).

Yes, even their abilities, as Dudu said in Sword of Destiny.

@tfwoods3 No they can only mimic appareance, not skills of the one they transform into. However when they mimic a person for a certain period of time they "absorb" their personalities, fears and such things

You can find some infos and quotes about it here: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/51140-How-is-the-doppler-impersonating-Gerald-able-to-use-Signs-at-all?p=1806686#post1806686

They can instantly match your look, your armor, your swords, and your powers. Almost got my ass kicked by one because I didn't expect the sign casting.

Yeah coolest enemies in the game! After W2, I missed fighting against other Witchers in this game and the doppler contract fulfilled that itch nicely!

Yeah, they can mimic basically everything but they are weak to silver, which is what makes them vulnerable.

Dopplers are balanced pretty well, but sadly the game has too less of them.. theres only 1 single freakign doppler in the whole game and this its naturalyl linked also to 1 unique sword schematic and its unique decoction, which must have been naturally designed so in this game, that you ca't get both, cause for one you need to kil lthat doppelr, for the other you need to let it live ... / so super annoying....

There should be another doppler in the game with that you have no problems of killing it, because killing the one in that quest feels wrong and gets you as reward for doing practicalyl the right thing the schematic for the gnomish gwyhyr lvl42 sword thats one of the best swords in the game so far.

there should be also a doppler somewhere that you just kill to get its decoction, so that when you make the right decision at that other quest you can have both, the decoction and the sword schematic fpr the gnomish gwyhyr. As long as that gets not fixed, I won't play the doppler contract quest.

They can absorb abilities such as signs, but they don't have skill in combat unless they spend time as the person they're impersonating. Besides, they can lose themselves, it's a trade off that can never be worth it.

In Dudu's case, I'm not sure what will happen, if he'll become just like Whoreson, hopefully not.

In the books there's no mention of them being susceptible to silver so they are even more powerful/dangerous there. I think when they transform into someone they literally become that person.
