@ Anwell your right they will never admit to making a game that is mediocre at bestbecause they think they know better then gamer like you or me or any of us.As for voice actors yes it even more expensive to use famous peoplenow here come a but even the not so famous one are not cheap too how many time have you notice a few voice actors from game A that are same in game B a lot of them are in hight demand as well.especially if the game was a hit

After having played Dragon Age: Origins, I have been disappointed with Dragon Age 2. So, I'm looking at other RPG games that are out or will be out.

Hi, then you are in the same boat as me. I loved DAO and was very very disappointed in DA2. Have you played the first witcher game? Its brilliant. The second one is out soon and I am so excited, it will be a whole lot better than DA2 I am certain:)

After playing DA2, I realized how much less I liked DA:O, actually. Although DA:O has a better game experiance from a playing perspective, with more enemies and many more locations/plotlines, the characters are awful and the voice acting worse.DA2 may have been linear and the plotline almost entirely absent, but the characters were endearing and well acted. (Except for Fenris obviously, that bioware actor who KEEPS coming back and couldn't emote his way out of a paper bag)

I had no problem with the VAs in DAO, I thought Morrigan and Alistair was pretty good. And I loved Shale. The characters in DA2 werent bad or anything, I just hated the new way of interacting with them. It was always quest related, you couldnt chat with them about silly things like in the first one. And never when you wanted.

I never played TW1. When I looked at system requirements for TW1, I noticed that Windows 7 is not supported. I also noticed that Vista 64-bit is not supported (which I don't use). Since I have Windows 7 64-bit, the situation is compounded and I'm out of luck. :(I did see that TW2 will be out in May 2011. About all I can do is look at reviews of TW1 and then read the TW2 reviews when they come out. Other than that, I'm a bit clueless to the Witcher experience. :(

In this regard, I'll agree to disagree. :)In DA:O, I loved the voice actors, companion interaction, and story. Even "dog" had a better personality in DA:O. With DA2, I felt boxed into a corner with all of the game's interactions or lack thereof.

Win 7 is not supported, but it doesn't mean that you can't play TW1 on this system. If you are out of luck then you will have a few problems, but generally game should work quite fine. I played a little on Win 7 64-bit and didn't notice any problems, so maybe it's worth trying?

You are not out of luck with Windows 7. I play on a 7-64 laptop, and everything's just fine. There are some setup differences, so check out the In-Game Tech part of this forum for the latest updates on how to get started, but it's very simple. Now, your processor, RAM, and graphics card need to be up to snuff, but those are a different issue entirely. Don't think you have to skip TW1 just because the world is only just catching up to Microsoft's new OS.

Thanks guys. I'm a tad nervous due to what I've been reading in the tech forum. So far, every problem I've read about has occurred on desktop/laptop systems that have equivalent or better specs than my laptop (Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q896).

After checking your specs i don`t think you have anything to worry about with being able to play the witcher . Depending on your source of installation (disc or digital download) then may need to do a little tweaking to get it to run but other than that i don`t foresee any problems .

Woot! Thanks for checking! :)I've been getting my games as PC downloads from Direct2Drive and, so far, they've been great. They let me download games without forcing me to use their download manager. I really dislike fluff programs. Heh.

Easy answer - Money talks.More complex answer - AAA games cost a fortune to make these days - licensing fees, production costs, graphics, Voice actors, etc - thus even to 'break even' they have to sell a certain number of units. But even then, it is possible to make both a good game and turn a profit. However, the companies are owned by share holders. Simply turning a consistant but moderate profit is not enough these days. Every profit must be greater than the last, and being usually short sighted creatures your typical shareholder doesn't care if they 'eat the seed corn' to get instant cash (see what happened during the GFC). Customer loyalty or reputation means little if it affects the bottom line, and the executives of the company are responsible to the shareholders (and their bonuses) to meet the 'more profits' expectations. So to increase profits after the last big thing, executives can do one of two things - decrease costs or increase sales (a third way is to nickle and dime with DLCs but thats another story). Cutting costs means more recycling engines and areas, reducing length of games, etc while increasing sales means appealing to a broader audience. I remember an interview where Bio said they were aiming to attract the CoD crowd to increase their audience - and that is pretty damn low bar. Its like trying to attract people to a Shakespeare drama by visiting a comic store.Hence you end up with a mish mash of rubbish. Any depth is removed due to cutting costs, and what is left is 'streamlined' to appeal to a wider audience. The sad part is - they appear to actually believe their own hype. The game has serious problems - it's not bad, just mediocre (with some major bugs) - and has broken their fanbase something majorly, and yet they still seem to think it is the "greatest thing ever".

I am appalled. I have played(and loved) Jade Empire, the Kotor games and now the Dragon Age games and Mass Effect 2. And you are telling me BioWare can only get worse. I was SALIVATING at the new SW Tor game. But DA:A was lousy and now DA2 is pathetic. If it follows that pattern then we are screwed.

Mass Effect 3 will be the game to judge Bioware by, DA2 was possibly so unfinished because all resources and developers are working on ME3.

BW is set Hell Bend to get those CoD players to the DA Franchise, in my opinion. If they succeed is another question. What I despise some BW Devs. for, is the bashing they do to DAO. DAO wasn't perfect by all means, but to me, it was a damn good RPG. I pre- ordered DAO, but I did not do so for DA2 and I will not buy it at all. When I played the Demo of DA2, I knew to stay away from it. And the whole mess with the SE Pre-Order for DA2. It is disgusting for me what BW has become.

I reacted to this aswell. They keep going on about the flaws of DAO and how DA2 is so much better. What kinda dev bad mouths their own game like that. Constructive critism is another thing entirely. How can they even say that a game they spent 18 months making, is better than one they spent 5 years on is beyond me. Fair enough they could use somethings from the originally game again. However they seem to have spent all their time and resources on the combat and redesign anyways, instead of an actual plot.

This really bummed me when I heard it. I had already given up on DA2 because I couldn't stand the aggressive marketing tactics of "sign up for this or you won't get that feature", but I was sorry to see things get even worse. I know the DA team has changed a bit since Origins, but running down the work that came before just because you weren't the lead on it is really sleazy. I cancelled my pre-order for DA2, and I don't plan on picking up the full game when it's discounted later.

Flaws on DA:O? I didn't see any flaws on DA:O. Technically neither game had any flaws. All the trouble I see is with the story. Linear and without choices. So the people of BioWare has chosen to blame the problems with DA2 on the mechanics of the game? They dare to say DA:O was INFERIOR? I swear, these guys could be spin doctors for the RepubliKKKan party. They have no idea of what they are saying and just spew it out to say something. Well, we vote with our wallets around here and I am not paying a cent for any DLC content and they BETTER make a GREAT DA3 or screw you and the franchise you rode on. I know where I can pirate most games. Disappoint me too much and you'll see.
