Well it is official, DA:I multi-player. It will be a progressively harder dungeon crawl the more sections you break through and a loot farming game ala Diablo style.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/26/dragon-age-inquisitions-co-op-multiplayer-is-all-about-loot

Isn't looting the main issue everyone was complaining to Blizzard about when Diablo 3 dropped? I remember a lot of people having a lot of issues with it so it's odd Bioware went that route for their multiplayer.

I've never been heavily invested in DA's story and since I already hate the new characters, MP would be the biggest reason for me to get the game. Could be pretty fun, actually. ME3's was fun for a dozen hours or so.

Exactly... I was hoping...hoping against all hope that they would not shoehorn multiplayer into DA:I but I guess they did....

I have no problems against multiplayer, I am a big TF2 fan and occasionally play DoTA 2 but IMO, one should not just shoehorn multiplayer into a singleplayer game. It ruins and compromises both the singleplayer and the multiplayer component of the game...

I guess like some folks here said, Bioware has chose their target audience and I am no longer one of said target audience...It was good while I was though

Tis' sucks but hey, I have CDPR, Pillars of Eternity and Bethesda still makes good single player RPGs and they don't shoehorn multiplayer :)

I've no complaints. If it's a bit more fun, why not? I enjoyed ME3's multi for some time, too, and if this will resemble NwN's multiplayer's adventures in some way, I'll be thrilled.

Damn, now I'm wondering why they aren't releasing a toolkit and letting people develop RP servers... damn I miss that.

The article about the multiplayer sent me to this one:

Inquisition over 200 hours long

What do you think? I'm skeptical. And if I were cynical, I'd say this is a response to TW3's alleged 100 hours. Even 100 seems long to me - 200 sounds gigantic. And not necessarily in a good way. BioWare aren't known for interesting sidequests. While in TW2 I remember things like the burned down hospital, the troll quest, the succubus and the phenomenal secrets of Loc Muinne, in ME3 I mostly remember fetch quests - bring back this tribal emblem from this remote star system. The only thing that comes to mind after briefly thinking about it was the mission with the Turian general's son, which had substance to it.

If I think about it a bit more I might remember some fetch quests from TW2 and some great side quests from ME3. Point is, BioWare doesn't have the right history to reassure me about a game of theirs being 200 hours long.

Given in the demo the showed us they still have those ME3 fetch quests...You can expect that to still remain...

However, given that how Bioware has in the past said they were "looking aggressively" at Skyrim and Skyrim, excluding DLCs, is around 300 hours long if you did everything so the 200 hours thing might have some validity to it.

They will not release toolkits because Frosbite is difficult to mod and because EA won't let them release one. Come on, its EA, a company that frequently releases clothing and cosmetics DLCs at a price when a modder could have made them for free...

Not exactly. When a company decides to create a game, the publisher doesn't go "OK, here is 100. Go make the best game you can. Remember to include MP" but rather in the form of "OK, we will give you 80 for SP and 20 for MP. What is that? You are not making MP? OK, we give you only 80 then".

That is put rather simplistically, and it isn't of course certain BW and EA went that route but at most cases it is (was so with ME3's MP) and considering they have been working on the MP aspect for DAI for 2 years already, and appears to be making it rather innovative enough to fit the DAI standard, I wouldn't exactly call it "shoehorning".

I wouldn't either say that BW has lost its 'targeted audience' when they have included MP. They are broadening their scope, which is understandable since they want to reach out to as many people as possibly who will enjoy DAI for different reasons. Whether or not BW has lost its original audience, well that is debatable, but I don't feel that is the case.

Yeah, I miss it too. Role playing with good players and questes led by real DM are much better then normal games. It's really sad that after NWN there was no engine letting people to create RP servers (I really hoped that Bioware will realease something like that for DA:O :/ ). Lately I was talking about that with friend, and D:OS would be good base for such engine if Larian improved network part of the game (server application + some DM tools)... tbh, such engine is good idea for kickstarter project, I would gladly contribute ;)

MP was fun in Mass Effect 3. Nothing revolutionary, just good, simple fun.

That doesn't contradict my statement. The question is whether the resources wouldn't have been better spent for the SP experience...

Well ME3 had objectives. DAI MP is being described as a loot grind for the sake of loot grinding. It could be fun, though grinding for gear so you are strong enough to grind for more gear over and over doesn't sound fun. Also no sharing gear on your account. Loot a mage staff on your warrior? Well too bad, you can't put that staff on your mage character, you need to grind for that on a mage. And if while doing so you find a great axe that will work for your warrior, well you get the idea...

From what I've seen on the video there will be a strong emphasis on visual customization as well.

It is a surprising news, I liket the ME3 co-op horde mode. Actually after the free DLCs they added more and more interesting classes than the SP ones. Still not sure that I want this or not.

Not directly DAI related, but I do urge everyone who wants a laugh to take a look.

As much as I love BioWare games I stay away from their forums as much as possible. People are saner here. Hope that doesn't change when more people will inevitably come here as the Witcher franchise grows more and more.

Well the bigger the crowd, the bigger chance that some will be less sane.

I thought the reason why there's a lot of crazies in BSN was cuz BW's been giving them more of the crazy stuffs they want. They can't even get a homosexual Geralt in The Witcher series, much less the...crazy DA-type stuffs.

I think the main reason BSN went so crazy is because the moderators over there antagonized the sane people into leaving.

And this isn't even the worst I saw the mods acting over there. So when the sane people leave because they don't want to pay to be insulted by a company and the insane people can say and do whatever they want as long as it's pro-Bioware that is what you are left with. No matter how big CDPR gets as long as they have good mods that do a good job I think this, and any other site for that matter, will be fine. Well, to the extent any place on the internet can be haha.

I saw this too at the BSN, came here to post it. Very funny. I hope he does one about the Witcher forum too.

@chance who's this Chris Priestly? Talk about suffocating a discussion. Is he still a mod there?
