He was community manager at Bioware for a while and burned a lot of bridges with the fan community. Last thread I recall seeing him in, he was saying that if he had his way, the Off Topic section of the forums (which is the most polite, friendly section) wouldn't exist. I gather that his idea was that the forums exist to promote the games and anything that doesn't serve that end should be nixed.

So. Yeah.

But....but.....I like the Community/off topic area!

Anyways, the character creator reminds me of what's been shown with Sims 4 and Black Desert. Definitely a good way to go. Still, I am cautiously optimistic of DA:I, but hopeful.

I admit this will be super awkward for me... Luckily theres not much time left till Witcher 3 launches... so I imagine I can avoid his presence.

Also, I thought this was an "Internatonal" forum, not just " "merican ". :p

Not awkward for me. He was an ass and there are a ton of screen caps out there to prove it. I'm not sure this isn't a joke on his part right now but if this is true it really is sad that a company, any company, would hire someone that has years and years worth of insults directed at paying customers to do, out of all things, deal with paying customers again. I never had a big problem with Woo, but Chris was the biggest reason why I couldn't handle BSN anymore. It just wasn't worth it with people like him there.

But as for the new character creator video that was just put out there I have to say it is the fist time a CC looked good to me. The main reason I usually stick with the default characters in games is because the CC's look so bad most of the time.

Can CDPR really not know how bad he was at his job? The main thing that surprises me is that, especially in the wake of the ME3 ending controversy, Priestly embodied the opposite of what I see as CDPR's strengths: Shitting on your fans and then pointing the finger at them for being "entitled," versus integrity and owning up to shortcomings in your games and earning fans' trust. Now, it's possible that Priestly was just trying to follow directives from above and with a different company culture, he would do better. If that's the case, since he was fired, he got majorly thrown under the bus.

Anyway... as long as he isn't a forum presence, I don't care. Don't go to cons, and don't pay much attention to them.

I've asked for official confirmation on the subject. Meanwhile, discussion of Chris Priestly is not on topic for a thread on DA:I. Reptile asked you politely. Sometimes I'm not as polite.

Fair enough. Though I missed Reptile's post asking not to talk about it, sorry for straying off topic.

Also this happened this week.

Q: to davidgaider - HoF (Warden from Origins) really won't come back? At all? Regardless of is he alive or not?
A: You won't see him in-game, no.

At first I was disappointed but then I thought about Anders and Justice and how much those characters changed from Awakening to DA2 so I'm sort of glad they wont be touching on them now. I loved Anders and Justice in Awakening and DA2 that hybrid was very different and I don't think those changes were for the better.

I also missed Reptile's post. There's no need to get shirty. As far as I'm concerned, Bioware's marketing is part of the topic. DAI doesn't look that interesting on its own merits, but Bioware's shady business ethics is part of why they don't have any good will stored up with me and get no pass for shenanigans.

Have we heard any more about the day one Xbox exclusive DLC?

Edit: Yeah. ^ Obviously Bioware hasn't improved at all in their marketing. What jackasses. On balance, CDPR did give a few jabs at EA about their crappy treatment of fans and IP's, and I thought that was a bit unprofessional too, even if it was well deserved.

Shots have been fired indeed, except it seems they shot themselves because that statement makes no sense.

Pre-order bonuses allow further IG customization. Ugh, enough with this crap. Stop closing game content, even if it's something as minor as a weapon appearance.

I need to feel it in action, but my initial impression of removing health regeneration is positive. It's a bit weird not having healing abilities at all in the mages (this is the case, right? I'm not sure), but beyond that I think it makes combat more interesting and makes you approach it with caution. A bit more hardcore. I like it. Very ballsy move. Looking forward to see how it turns out.

Combat is a bit too colorful. Too many flashy things happening at any given moment in combat. It would be understandable if it was mostly the mages, but even a "mundane" warrior class seems to suffer from ostentatious moves.

Tactical camera looks good. I like the option to change the angles. As long as it also has a good enough reach, I'm happy.

And I was semi-interested in DAI, not anymore, if the devs are as childish as this.

Bioware has a history of lifting concepts and I've noticed a number of small things In DA:I influenced by TW2. I wouldn't be surprised if some major ones show up as well.

To be fair, Flynn was the guy who fought for more development time for Mass Effect 3, when others in his place (mainly Darrah and Laidlaw) did nothing but stick to a compromising schedule and hyping a mediocre game, in the case of Dragon Age 2. So he's not the WORST corporate tool Bioware has...
Admitedly, people should just take away his Twitter from him, but that I find the general situation for Bioware devs: Their relation with "the fans" has become sooo toxic over the years that I imagine is very difficult keeping your head cool.

And struggling to remain on topic, a neat little thing I found: A preorder bonus for DA Inquisition in Poland: :D

Dragon Age has swords, surely they ripped off CDPR.

Where was DA:I's alchemy system displayed? Some video I missed, or some interview?

Also, I'm digging the cousin of Neverwinter's eye being used for the Inquisition. Now just add in a toolset to build multiplayer worlds, and we'll once again have a place to RP.

Ah, good days. Good days.

I chuckled at this TBH,

And he is kinda right, since there are no true female witchers (that we know of at least) there aren't any women who can take the strong elixirs Geralt takes.

BW so hungry for attention and money that they started devouring words... priceless!

Didn't we give Triss a potion during the prologue game 1 ? Guess that's further than that bloke ever got with the Witcher. But lets be honest, that was an ignorant comment badly delivered, the cynic wonders if they are kicking up some dust for cover.

I've been around since before they were Bioware, and they are dead to me now.
