True, that is true. Though they would have achieved that anyway with or without all the mindless tasks in between. But anyway, I've gotten over that.

Did you figure out any way to stop it permanently?
I've updated my graphics drivers and i'm currently "repairing" it on Origins but after that I only have one more bug fix I can use before I've run out of fixes :/

I don't even understand what is causing the crash bc I'm not getting an error, my laptop is cool so... i don't think this is because of my dual cores.

No, I don't know what the issue is. It does this to me occasionally, and my pc's pretty decently upgraded. Not tippy top notch, but 1k I think is at least in the higher echelon for a common gamer.

This is just for when it crashes and goes to the desktop, mind you. I fixed my heating issue which only compounded the problem.

Supposedly the DirectX error is helped by a download from Microsoft called Visual C++ Redistributable.

However I dl'ed that and had the DirectX error again afterward. I updated my driver and haven't had it since. So maybe both together help with stabilizing.

Are you meant to download all 3? I downloaded one and it didn't fix anything.

What do you guys use for screens? The print screen method just isn't doing it for quality. Looks good on tv, but not as much on the laptop.

@Veleda @Princess_Ciri, it worked I downloaded the x64, tested it, still crashed in this very specific encounter, but then I did the second option, which was to set all the values in my save higher than 1 back to 1. Did that, finished the fight and everything was good. It also seems to have fixed a glitch I had, which was that the rain is supposed to actually wet you, but it didn't before. Not until now.

If anyone is thinking on getting the game for PC and using mouse and keyboard I would advice to wait for fixes as combat is terrible.

edit: I took a look at my flatmate's pc and it's telling me it's using 99% of the CPU... on a black blank screen O_O wtf

Lol I spoke too soon... man, Bioware sucks DICK with servers! I started getting the problem again even through the fix did indeed help. Then I finally realized that turning origin off in game didn't turn off their stupid ass cloud sync, so I turned that off in game, turned off data sharing, then turned off automatic sign in. Keeping that off for good. If I care about getting my data up, I'll just sign in manually later.

Now... it's working good so far... Will see in the next five hours before I declare victory over Bioware and their suckage.

I have to say what's impressive in this game is that Gaider and his team had the balls to tackle religious debates head on. It makes me connect to the universe immensely as someone who has had constant debates about religion, faith, belief etc.

This is exactly what I'm loving about the game. I was surprised BioWare took on such a complicated theme and did it well. A realistic portrayal of religious belief is something I thought was missing from Origins, especially when you consider how central religion/the maker is in the Dragon Age setting.

Sigh, would it really kill them to make sure their shit works on all fucking platforms? I bet it was some lazy copy paste shit they did. I totally get why pc owners have so much animosity to consoles now. Not that it makes it right, but I get it.

Obviously some things got cut in the budget and this is one of them. I wouldn't be so bitter if they were honest about it in the marketing.

By level 11, though, I'm starting to enjoy the combat more. Upgraded Static Cage is pretty sweet and my Dalish girl got a nice lightning staff that makes a sound like a lightsabre, lol. Between her and Solas they can control most encounters pretty well. Mages seem nerfed in this game but they're really not, you're just not doing damage so much as crowd control and there are a lot of passive abilities in the trees which are pretty useful.

Found Loghain. So far my favorite area has been Crestwood.

@Unkindled: I use Fraps for screenshots. It's a free download for the basic version. Has benchmarking, video capture, etc. The free version puts a Fraps logo on your videos.

You know, something I've noticed is every time my game does crash, there's a save right where I was at. Could autosave be the issue? Autosave caused a lot of freezing in Skyrim too.

LOL I'm an idiot... actually, I never updated my cpu driver, I thought when people said update their drivers, they meant the gpu ones, lol. Did that, but my cpu's just i5, and I was a good bit behind on updates, so... yea.
