Dragon Age: Inquisition

+
I just started it but ill need to record/render and upload first but ill try to be quick.
That's where I got stuck, yes, though I actually solved them both myself eventually. Thank you for the video, though! There wasn't one on YouTube so I bet you'll get views from other puzzle haters. Interestingly, my solution was slightly different than the one that you used.

So.... that place, and the romance scene with Solas afterward. Bank money for a Dalish lore person. I'm sure it would be gratifying for those who hate elves, too. I'm glad I went with a Dalish PC. Dorian and Solas are good companions to have along on that quest, lore wise.

Oh, and that was the most fun combat yet. I had Dorian, Solas, Blackwall and of course the mage NPC
Morrigan
- holy shit, I thought mages were a bit underpowered in this game but four mages can clear a room in nothing flat with a good warrior to draw threat. I'm probably going to replay this game a little more slowly and put the difficulty up now that I know what I'm doing.

Where the fuck are all the rune schematics... been looking for a spirit one, but don't see any merchants with them. All I've seen are dragon slaying runes and demon slaying runes for schematics, and I already have fire, cleansing something, lol, and corrupting rune schematic.
The only person I've found with rune stuff is that Mary woman in the lower courtyard at Skyhold.

I beat my second dragon. Warriors are so op. I killed that ferelden dragon one on one relying on nothing but my guard and shield wall to protect me. Cassandra and I were all that was left, while Dorian and Solas took all the potions, then died. Cassandra fell, and I had full health, full guard, blocking every time it attacked and laughed as they all just increased my guard with each hit. Boss.

Finished the game. The ending had some interesting stuff but was confusing. Cliffhangers, I guess. Solas romance proved to be pretty interesting...
I now know how the Morrigan guys felt, lol. And Flemeth? Wow.

You can turn that off in the options menu.
I wasn't talking about Dragon Age: Inquisition --it doesn't have a morality system (unless you count your companions' approval ratings.) I was referring to the red/blue morality meters in Mass Effect, Fable, and Knights Of The Old Republic because Unkindled mentioned Mass Effect.
And I like that Dragon Age Inquisition tells you the tone of a comment before you say it. It solves the problem where you choose a dialogue option and the player-character says something totally different than what you intended.

Dragon Age: The Musical - cringe level 9999
I know everyone else already commented on this, but I just want to add my voice to the matter --That scene is really an amazing when it happens in context. It sent chills down my spine.

@tsuchinokoultimate Your Geralt looks amazing. It's not 100% identical but it's really good!

P.S. I just reached Skyhold after 24 hours. I feel dumb because other people reached it in 15 or so and I thought I was getting less side-tracked than I usually do :p

P.P.S. Did anyone import their Hawke's appearance from Dragon Age 2? I didn't because I don't own DA2 but I'm curious how accurate it is.

Don't feel bad, I've had it since release and should be done by now with my first playthrough, lol. But I'm taking my time and enjoying it a lot. That's how I managed to kill a dragon at level 12. Not hard when you have equipment meant for three or four levels above you thanks to schematics and stormheart farming.

And shield wall whoring.

Ciri? What are you doing there? Well, she does jump dimensions and worlds.....

About 30 hours sunk right now and after opening up about 6 new lands, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to focus on side missions anymore.
I sided with the mages and the sequence through Skyhold was pretty good. It's a shame that the fetch quests get in the way too much. Still enjoying the game, but Nightmare is being quite a challenge as a DW Rogue. Should've done a different class.

Come on guys! This one is easy. She obviously survived because of nano-machines...
EDIT: Link isn't working properly. Skip to 3:37 to get the joke.

You're probably thinking. "But Finnway, nano-machines don't exist in the DA universe!" To that I say "Where art thy imagination, heathen? Are ye not aware of the power of the retcon?"

SUPER-DUPER massive spoiler concerning the ending. Don't click if you haven't finished the game yet.

Him turning out to be an ancient elf god and revealing that Dalish tatoos are slave markings was definitely unexpected. I was surprised... in a good way. On the other hand, Morrigan's son and Flemeth :/

They knew they couldn't go further with that plot, so bam old god soul is removed from him by Flemeth, who turns out to be quite benevolent. Shame she gets axed by Solas, the trickster god at the end - I mean c'mon Bioware.

Did Cassandra's love scene, and I thought it was really sweet. Much better handled than previously. Don't care how corny anyone else says it is, romance is corny.

You are being chosen to lead large army against the rifts ordering way more experienced soldiers to do the political/agent mission even tho no one knows you nor they fully trust you.. but what the hell.. make him head of the army and give him a title.. but what you do as a leader and only hope? you run around collecting plants, rocks, escort cows and deliver letters to total strangers in the middle of nowhere. Dialog options in that game.. aren't improved at all. by highlighting which answer is correct, game is choosing for you. What is the point.

Maybe one day DA will take itself seriously.
It's a solid grind game skyrim fans will enjoy. but why they scored the game s high!

Alright, I've finished the prologue and here are my impressions thus far:

Graphics:

The game is beautiful, textures are above average in resolution but don't reach the hights of say Crysis 3 or Metro Last Light but tfor the most part they are crisp and detailed.

When it gets dark in this game, it's REALLY dark, like pitch black dark, which is really refreshing.

Great lighting effects that give areas (especially indoors) a lot of atmosphere

Character models are above average but not the best thing ever, facial animations are OK.

The feel is thoroughly BioWare, it feels a lot like DA:O so far.
Trees are not bad but not good either. If you look at them from a short distance, they look like they are made out of cardboard. It's not distracting though.

Gameplay:

I played on Hard and for a tutorial this is suprisingly good and varied. I went on a bridge, through snow, climbing ladders to a cave that leads to a temple

For a short ,linear tutorial there was quite a lot to explore. I went to a house which I promptly looted, then I went to a burning house, then I went to an additional path where I found an amulet that breaks on death and heals the wearer (useful for the boss).

At Haven I read some interesting codex entries, explored the dungeon, all this before speaking with Cassandra.

EDIT: Oh the Tactical Camera is TERRIBLE, especially indoors because it doesn't zoom far enough. It doesn't zoom far enough anyway and you can't scroll the map with your mouse...WHAT THE FUCK?! This needs to be modded. Fast.

Story and Characters.

The introduction is a bit abrupt and the way people regard you as a savior so early is a bit early, however you are allowed to challenge the notion that you are a saviour.

Most dialogues have 3 options but there are more than enough that have more options.

Voice acting and music are superb. The music is very BG and very high quality. Voice acting very good too, especially on Cassandra's part.

Speaking of Cassandra, she's my favorite so far but the others are not lagging behind. I really liked the part at the bridge where she confronts you for havng a weapon. She agrees but turns her back to you (almost as if she's expecting you to attack her) and then looks at you and says something like "very well you are in enough danger anyway" but with a hint of threat, as if the demons are not the only things you should be careful of. If Roche ever met her, I think they'd get along.

I really like how she put that cleric in his place at Haven. You don't mess with Cassandra!

Technical Issues:

The cutscenes have screen tearing and 30 FPS....I used the 60 fps fix which alleviated some of the issues. The drop from 60 to 30 in cutscenes in noticeable though. Will report more behaviour later.

The game crashed once.

All in all this is a solid introduction. Not as good as TW2 but far better than either DA.

You can turn the highlights off.

One thing that could have improved the story was to make Cassandra the leader until you get your fortress. In the beginning of the game you may have closed the breach but Cassandra saves your ass, defies the Chantry and takes care of the Inquisition. That makes her more of a leader than you, at least in the beginning.

I am now in the Hinterlands...I've died 3 times already.

You don't import it, you're given an opportunity to re-create it in the character creator if you want.

Ending spoilers
I wouldn't say Flemeth was entirely benevolent, they're showing it's complicated. That scene was pretty powerful, though. I'm glad I let Morrigan drink from the well because it added that element to it. I'm going to replay that and see what changes if Lavellan does it (don't spoiler me). The question is whether Flemeth gets axed or... Solas becomes her. They decide to combine powers because one isn't enough to do whatever they want to do, and her role is to die as it was before at some point. Which would be really awkward if he and Lavellan get back together. You'd be fucking Flemeth. O_O

After clearing a bandit camp I went through a small cave and entered an area where a "pleasant" surprise awaited. That surprise was a dragon who one shotted my party.

Your Inquisitor was obviously braver than mine. She called for a tactical retreat and pulled back to camp. It is kinda hilarious though - one side of a tunnel you have one of your camps with an Inquisition guard detail, other side a dragon with her brood. If I were a member of that guard detail, I would suffer from excessive, nerves-induced flatulence :)

Yeah I learned that the red skull over tough enemies is no joke at lower levels. The bad baddies are usually in remote corners of the map, and sometimes you can spot them far enough away to avoid them. Other times, well... hope you had a recent save. The game does autosave a lot which is helpful.

I admit, they got me. I like Dragon Age again, and am remembering why I ended up spending hours and hours of my life writing about it and posting in forums before. Not that I want to do that again, lol. I think the biggest accomplishment of this game is that it actually makes me appreciate DA2 more, from the standpoint of what they were trying to do story-wise and how they developed the hooks further.

I also was really surprised that I didn't mind the voiced PC as much. I like Alix Wilton Regan's voice (yay Cauthrien... her battle calls are really badass and funny) but mainly I think it's because there were very few times where the PC was going off on her own saying things without my control, in contrast to DA2 and what I've heard about ME3. The conversation system gave you an opportunity to respond to banter conversations, for instance. If they had a preview of the actual words instead of just a paraphrase, it would be even better.

Yeah, for a AAA modern game, this game is not fooling around when it comes to difficulty...although it may be because I just suck. Any tips?

I got revenge on her bitch ass last night. All my party was eventually defeated, but I stood tall before her, being a complete slut in my stormheart ore gear I farmed from a specific point in the game, and abusing the shit out of shield wall. Blocking every attack, the battle started to feel more like a skyrim dragon fight at that point. And when it lay dead before the feet of the Herald of Andraste... I pissed on her corpse, then slayed the rest of her children.

What's with the singing? Only... why?

Sigh. Stop looking at these little clips from the game, you'll ruin it for yourself. This was actually a very cool moment that you wouldn't get without context. All the Bioware haters will be rallying behind this to ignore what is inconvenient for them to recognize as an awesome game.
