Dragon Age: Inquisition

I guess it does if you already have "automatically update my games" checked. Don't know what to tell you if you do, maybe try and beat the clock, which shouldn't be hard, then take the check off in settings. You should be able to stop the download though I assume. I don't remember how the updating works. Pretty sure it does it in the background and it displays the progress on the bottom of Origin.

Worst case scenario, delete your game before you even open origin, then go in settings and fix it, then redownload Dragon Age.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THAT PATCH

Don't do it. It turned my PC into a haggard crone, and everything looks like shit. They're forcing everyone into low res no matter what your graphics settings, and they eliminated 10 facial textures which is how my PC ended up looking like she's 110 years old.

@Princess_Ciri, now I'm hearing you may not have a choice... apparently it's forced on people to play the game. I'm not turning my PC off or exiting out this game until this is fixed, lol.

I'm serious though. Or at least until I finish this playthrough. I'll probably need to remake my elf chick character though since I already started her and have her on standby for after this playthrough, assuming the patch screws her face up.

edit: Lol there you go^ Vel's the one that told me as much.

wow... what the hell bioware?!?! did they even remember to test these patches for the PC? uGH

In good news, however, I have my Origin account installed on my laptop, so I can uncheck the 'keep my games updated automatically' box, and hopefully save my game on my PC from downloading it...

edit: wait really? i have to download it? Bioware whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

edit edit: ok im just gonna refuse to let it patch I WILL NOT LET THE PATCH DESTROY MY PRETTY GAME

Game told me I HAD to patch... Yeah sure...

I just canceled the download and used the desktop shortcut to start the game...

Kids always follow rule number one:
NEVER patch on patch day, always wait a few days.

edit: oh and just in case you might want to set it all to offline mode and cut off the Internet before launching. That thing is sorta serious about the you have to patch blahblah PATCH blahblah... (sorry just talked to Sera I hear her rambling now)

Yeah, normally I do that, but I took at face value that I had to patch in order to play because I'm not familiar with Origin.

So now I don't dare play my game in case the saves get corrupted.

This is what my PC is supposed to look like.

@Veleda Did you stay in the sun for too long?

With shiny hair check if meshes are set to high, seen that before patch. If they are on high they really screwed that one up... thought they wanted to fix that for lower settings.

Buahaahahahahaha!

Holy SHIT!

I was just about to give in and buy the game, but decided to check this thread because I've heard the new patch is dropping today. Now, there is no way I'm giving my 45 $ to Bioware - waiting for a sale... and a new patch :p

My worst fear is that they try to "fix" the retarded controls and break my nice running re-binds and mouse scripts.

After I went through a whole tube of anti-inflammatory creme, I'm happy I wrote a few scripts to truly repair those keyboard and mouse controls. First time in 5 years that my hand cramped up like that within an hour. The standard controls do not agree with my RSI, even after rebinding nearly everything... Too think I can play DA:O with only one hand...

Without the two-button mouse run I created I'd be screwed.

That's actually quite amusing, but annoying at the same time if you're the one playing.

The best fix they could give at this point is to allow people to delete their piece of shit patch. Just when I think I come off as a negative nancy paranoid jerk, they confirm my worries with that. Jesus, have mercy.

Game of the year 2014

Don't make any save post-patch with the patch installed, people.

edit: they added some good things in the UI though (way easier to detect and pick things now)

Strangely, the patch had the opposite effect on my game. It removed the super-shiny hair that I used to get whenever "Mesh Quality" was set to anything below Medium.

It did remove my Qunari Inquisitor's scars though. That's a big no-no, BioWare.
:mean:

omg she turned into an old lady!!!!!!!!!
You thought I was exaggerating? Oh no. I've never seen anything like this.

It really makes me wonder what's going on with these next gen multi-platform games. Watch Dogs, now this, and Witcher 3's graphical downgrade. Are they not developing a proper PC version because they think the consoles ought to be able to handle the game, then finding out that they actually can't? I mean, I didn't even have terrible performance problems, just some stutter on a few cutscenes and DirectX CTD's. Now I've got a game that's unplayable.

---------- Updated at 08:01 PM ----------

Okay, there's a workaround, and it did fix the haggard crone problem, though the game still looks crappy to me in comparison. Textures are wrong, or something. But at least my PC isn't a ghoul anymore.

This still doesn't help the fact that your saves will be corrupted. Fuck it, I'm going to play and abandon this game later.

What bothers me so much is that all these so called patches don't have proper patch notes. If they had someone would scream don't install before the patch went live.

Heck if those games companies gave me 40 minutes with their games/patches I would point out those failures by just installing it on random hardware and telling them it's bullocks. Don't they have quality control anymore? Where are the (play-)testers? And do they only test that shit on 4000 worth bucks hard-ware?

I miss the days of witcher 1 and 2 release, where I could get games running below the minimum specs and still make them playable. Shit even DA2 worked perfectly under the minimum specs after the single core patch 4 days after release. (for those that don't remember DA2 couldn't save games if you had a single core CPU in the first 4 day, after that it ran under minimum specs).
These days you can be happy if a game runs decent on the latest high end hard-ware :(

Even I can admit that Bioware seem to have forgotten about their PC customers. The patch is fine for console users but has destroyed the games for many PC users. If they had just tested it, they would have clearly seen the problem! Damn it I'd test their patches for less than minimum wage and it would save them a lot of problems in the long run u__u

Thank god going in offline mode works. I was afraid that since I was already online when the patch went out that they'd give me some DRM bullshit, but nay. No patch update. No messages telling me I have to update before I play.
