Dx11

Greetings..

Okay, i have a little argument going on with a friend about the Witcher 2 and Skyrim, don't worry it's not what you think.

All i want to know is can The Witcher be played in DX11 and if so are any dev able to confirm this. I have shown him vids on you tube but he reckons they are lying.

Thsnks in advance.

I dont think the game can be played in DX 11 as it is a DX 9 game ....

At present no it cannot be played in DX11 as it`s DX9 only . If at some point the devs decide to include DX11 tesselation then it would be possible but not until then and even at that point you would still need a video card capable of DX11 . With the current generation consoles also being DX9 i wouldn`t get my hopes up any time soon .

ehh, Battlefield 3 is DX11 and is also on consoles. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples as well.

To be honest!, TW2 is another live example how DX9 game can beat any in many ways DX10-11 games (especially visually )!...

No it's not...make a game that uses DX11 to it's fullest then we'll see.

Even tho I have graphic card that supports DX11 and is power enough to run it smoothly I don't need it in TW2. Why should I? Game is absolutely gorgeous. I don't care what kind of DX it uses.

It would look even more impressive with tessellation.

Just saying..

It would, if programmers actually knew how to use tessellation without turning it into a gross waste of resources. That hasn't happened yet.

The "Heaven" benchmark is a ridiculous example of exactly the wrong way to use tessellation, yet it is promoted as the greatest thing since the self-eating watermelon.

HOLY... WHERE CAN I GET ONE?!?!
That is the best internet quote in a long time dude, made my day. Anyway, until DX11 becomes more standard I doubt it'll make a really impressive graphical or performance difference... in a way, TW2 with its gorgeous graphics but DX9 proves that again, and though BF3 is impressive with DX11 I don't think it's the fact that it's DX11 that's making it look as good as it does... for the most part. Of course, it'd be worth it to make the switch, but until the next generation of consoles release I doubt it'll really make a big impact.
