1. CDPR gathers the crowd at a huge stage.

2. Live performance by Percival:

3. Crowd gets hypnotized by the rhythm and chanting.
4. John Mamais slowly emerges at the stage surrounded by smoke.
5. He is the joined by the joint CEO Marcin Iwinski.
6. They just stare at the audience while the world-premiere-debut-release TW3 trailer starts in the background
7. The trailer has 2:30 minutes with 28 seconds of actual gameplay.
8. Everyone's like:

For me it doesn't need all the jazz, extended gameplay shown and hands on playable demo's for those who want to try it.

Last E3 Adam Sessler and Gamespot had quite a few one on one with developers. The game was playing on the screen in the background and they were talking through the features/mechanics and so on.

This E3 needs to be more show than tell. Last E3, the last year in fact, at least for the fans was just lots of talk.

Hands-on demo for the lucky ones, plus snippets for us mere mortals, and by snippets I don't mean 3-second-long gif material.

E3 is a closed industry conference; there is no public audience. Whatever they demo has to be for the trade and the press.

The press can be counted on to trumpet anything they are given that is at all newsworthy.

E3 is supposed to be used as a big shocker for people. Thousands and thousands of gamers and media are all over it. Putting a nice but short gameplay video would be more than enough to attract attention and rock and roll.

One additional but important question:

What should CDProjekt show as to topple last year's demo and especially the spectacular VGX trailer?

The problem with a fully public demo is that it won't get CDProjekt in the press's favour, something which they undeniably need. Usually, one hand washes the other.

Frankly all we know from Witcher 3 are words and promises, we have seen nothing of the game and those promises implemented. E3 is CDPR 's chance to impress the largest audience, since E3 is the biggest gaming event of the year and all eyes are on them. If they don't release a demo or if they release another trailer that lasts less than 2 minutes, then I'd say Witcher 3 is in trouble. The game should be at a stage by E3 where CDPR could release gameplay videos, the rest of the 8 months should be used to fix bugs and further polish the game and most importantly market the game. After the delay This is their chance to reassure the fans, the shareholders, and the business partners that they are in business and Witcher 3 is going to be amazing.

They need to show something that is not a material for five gifs. People are getting sceptical and you have to start with the actual marketing at some point. No better place for that than E3.

Actually the worst place and moment to start the marketing campaign and preorders and all that, is by far E3, everyone is going to be busy with other games and the witcher will be drowned in the huge event that it is.

The best moments were either this month, to avoid E3 and watchdogs, or after E3 at some point and away from any other big events that can make a lot of info from other games come out as well.

The Witcher 3 has to have its own moment, it can now stand by itself, with no help of E3 or stuff like that, that was for last year or whatever. In fact if I was CDPRED i would announce to all gaming sites that the full reveal of TW3 and the start of preorders and such will be streamed live for the first time, get the hype going, show a new trailer in that stage they have where they announced cyberpunk.

Are you suggesting they should skip E3 altogether or, say, use it to promote CP2077?

Again, the media has to get something in return, if they are to cover TW3 extensively. Otherwise they'll just turn their attention to the many developers providing them with exclusive content.

After the delay, they better be showing some gameplay to the public.

But knowing CDPR, they probably are going to show another trailer of 2 minutes to the public and a demo of 30-40 minutes to the "press sneak fucks".

"press sneak fucks" :) You deserve a red point, sir
