And that concludes E3. Coverage by GameSpot was really good. And at least two people on their staff named The Witcher 3 as their game of the show.

I agree.

The new system for AC Unity sounds pretty cool. I wish CDPR would include something along these lines as well if just for a few missions or for hunting or approaching a camp of bandits unseen or whatever... ;)

Look they didn't show it to us because it has spoilers, moments of the game that will hit you hard. They didn't show it to us all because they don't want us to be spoiled, don't ruin it for yourself.

The Witcher 3 wins the IGN E3 Viewer's Choice Award for a second year in a row. Meanwhile their staff hasn't even nominated The Witcher 3 for Game of the Show. Lol.

All this award stuff is poppycock, I really wish people would stop treating it like it means something... "X game got nominated, how fucking ridiculous" "Why didn't (insert favourite game here) not win, WTF"... Seriously guys, c'mon. These awards are useful for one thing, to give the games that get nominated/win more coverage on the big sites like Gamespot or IGN. CDPR want to win them because it gets the "brand name" out to more people.
It means absolutely nothing to us here.

It's also the big reason why we complain about stuff like Crossbows, or auto-refilling potions. We're deeply invested in the series, especially one with so much lore deeply rooted in the books & the games. Can we be a little harsh? Yes, but CDPR have tough enough hides & they know that what we say here is done out of LOVE for the game, series and CDPR in general. Nobody here wants CDPR to start becoming complacent and just throwing out old mechanics or introducing new ones for the sake of attracting more people, because it means so much more to us than anybody else. NOBODY wants to see CDPR head down the awful path of destruction we watched BioWare take, not even one step.

Ultimately CDPR have the hammer. If they believe these mechanics are best for the game, then all we can do is say "Don't like it", offer feedback and wait and see. We get our backs up, but at the end of the day we have to trust them to make the right decisions. I know I do, I might not agree with some of this stuff, but I do still trust them. If the game comes out and these new systems do feel as awkward and out of place as I think they might be, then perhaps I'll just have to look at future CDPR releases with a much more sceptical & judgmental eye. I know that might sound harsh, but it's just the way I feel.

However we saw plenty of footage this E3 & so much of it just looks SO good. We might have a few quibbles with these new systems or maybe the Animations aren't as perfect as we expected, but the game still looks utterly incredible. I have absolutely no doubt CDPR will deliver on a fucking superb story with amazing characters, incredible atmosphere, upgraded Combat and a really good world. All these little changes aren't going to magically destroy or outweigh the amazing stuff we've seen, but it is just disappointing to the core fans to see some of the changes & we want to see the game improved from the previous titles, but not sacrifice elements of them to achieve that.

Ahem, no. You can't even swim for a longer period of time in heavy clothes. And you will never be able to swim dive for longer than a few moments with leather+chainmail armour (+swords) Geralt is wearing. Believe me, I'm a good swimmer, trained life guard. We often to training in cloths and it's really exhausting even with light clothes to swim or dive for more than a short period of time...

And Geralt has no superhuman strength. That's a myth and actually no mutation of him. Improved senses doesn't help you at all for swimming/diving I wouldn't even be surprised if Geralt couldn't swim at all given his distaste for the ocean...

Edit: Who really cared about awards from major press outlets? Journalists are not objective, they nominate their personal favorites. Seems like there are more DA fans at IGN than Witcher fans. No reason to panic, guys... :p

As I tried to explain, there is a huge difference between loose modern "leather" clothing and hardened tight leather strapped to your body like Geralt is wearing..

When wearing loose clothing it creates drag, which is why even wearing some normal (non leather clothing) can be heavy to you and tire you out.

Hardened leather is boiled and sealed with wax among other things they could use. It does not soak up water/retain it like modern non-harded leather clothing does, which is a huge huge difference, you can not compare wearing a leather jacket or something (Which isn't hardened or sealed) to boiled hardened leather that's sealed.

Also the swords? Those would weight probably 1.5-3lbs tops, not a lot of weight.

As far as diving goes for a long period of time? You probably wouldn't want to, no, but you can certainly swim in it and easily cross a river or go underwater for short times.
