I'm hoping they find a better solution to the corpses. It was a bit weird to see an Endraga vanish the second you looked away.

Collective letter from russian players

There's a very thin line between making your game friendly to newcomers and keeping it hardcore enough to the skilled players.
We are strongly against a number of new updates which were made to attract the console owners up to the game.

1. We ask to get the Swallow poison's guise back. In the W3, it was made as a red bottle, it was obviously made for the whole huge number of the players to ensure that is a healing potion.

2. We would like to see 2 game modes:
The first is hospitable and handy, intended for newbies and people who value simplicity. The second is hard, void of clues, for veteran players.
Hard mode features:

2.1. Getting the window, that shows the potions needed to kill a certain monster, away. You had to read the book of monsters carefully to learn how to kill them in the Witcher 1. Getting rid of that annoying helping wíndow is the best option for a skilled players.

2.2. Getting the "everlasting potions" away. A skilled player won't be bothered gathering ingredients for the new potions. We don't want the potions to be restored with a flow of time. We want potions to end after using so we have to gather new ingredients to make new potions. The ingredients gathering isn't a sign of hardcore, but the lack of it is the sign of the game being adapted for the console owners, especially if consider the fact that the gathering of potion ingredients was presented in the past two parts of the game.

2.3. We, the skilled players, not only played the previous games in this series, we also watched the polish serial "Weidźmin" and read all the Sapkowski's books. We dont need any explanations of Geralt's temper, motivation and reasons. Leave these questionable joys for the beginners.

3. And the last, but not the least - your Geralt has too thin waist and too broad shoulders. Why wouldn't you make him as a guy of regular body type instead of making him look like hero from Dragon Age fangirls' sexual fantasies?

P.S. Why was the name of the swamp spirit Johnny americanized?

I agree and disagree at the same time.

There shouldn't be two gameplay modes. The game should be fully customizable (Thief is probably the best example) to cater to different "hardcore" or "casual" tastes.

And some stuff like auto-refill potions is os "basic" game design that it shouldn't be a question of game modes.

By the way, for whom do you speak exactly? Please refer the community or group of players you speak for. I don't think each and every Russian gamer agrees with what you said. ;)

Haha nope. But while I agree with him on most those points, I'm not sure what the problem is with the red healing potion?

Well, making the potion red is catering to the casual gamer who only recognizes the effects of potions by their color. Red=healing, blue=mana, yelllow=stamina...

There is just no real reason to change the colour of the potion for TW3 if you don't want to cater to the casual gamer. :p

Although I could agree with some points, the general tone of the letter is awful. "We, the skilled players". Bah.

At least he avoided "we, the hardcore gamers"... :p

I think "we, the people who know every bit of the witcher world" with a reference to who "we" actually is would have been way better if he wants to be taken serious here. ;)

The tone of this letter is awful. And I think I'm getting tired of constant moaning - "do this", "do that", "that sux", "lore breaking", "in the books" etc... It was such a nice place before E3...
I think I need some break from the forums to keep me sane. Too many butthurts, too much moaning ;)

I can agree to with some of those points, but it seems The Witcher'a fame begins to devour itself. He begins to see glimpses of forgotten about who is the creator of the game, why they have created, and to whom and / or how they want to offer. I thought that was even CDPR privileges.

Well, That happens when an icon become very popular and eventually ceases to belong to its original creators.

they pander too much to american newcomers they're gonna lose some of the old fanbase, he's just asking their approach to be balanced, so far I've heard nothing about how odler fans will like the series, all I've heard from CDPR is casual and new\

this was so common about several years ago. I never thought I would see something like this agan especially from cdpr

I agree to a certain extend.

But we shouldn't forget that E3 is meant as a show for the American market and CDPR wanted of course to attrack more US people to the franchise.

I hope CDPR will choose a different approach at Gamescom when the European market and customer base is in the focus... ;)

Isn't green the universal color for stamina?

Didn;t hear anything about balance - maybe because of this tone. And if I have to honest, If some of the guys standing with torches outside their building screaming "lore breakers" will leave just for the sake of argument it's even better :p

So far - I do not see how this game could be worse in some terms than W2. Everything is better - the question is only, how much better thay can do - so saying "I never thought I would see something like this agan especially from cdpr" is very strong accusation.

Hm, I know games with green stamina potions and ones with yellow....but it seems indeed that green is in the majority. ;)
