Easy Money! ( No Exploit - Sort of ? )

Just figured I'd throw this out there for those who don't know. Or if you fall into the group that needs coin and doesn't want to exploit to get it. Although I've actually never really needed coin myself. Looting everything and not buying anything but essentials helps.

Anyways onto the method. I should actually first point out that maybe this technically isn't a non exploit as I'm not sure if its working as intended.

Basically you need to buy Seashells from any vendor your able. Conveniently there is a merchant in Novigrad. I believe in hierarch square that has 15 shells on hand. You buy all these cheap and dismantle them for pearls and the occasional black pearl. Sell these to make quite a profit

Obviously you can meditate and he will restock. Rinse and repeat. Quite a bit of money and no animals need to be harmed.

I'm sure there is some that also consider this an exploit. I'm not quite sure which side I'm on. They are an item that CDPR put into the game and allowed them to be sold at merchants. At any rate I consider it less of an exploit then killing magic respawning cows. Which also apparently isn't a crime?.

Not sure which method makes more in the end but either one will provide more then you need. I also suspect the cows will get a patch bit who knows.

This is the current money exploit that has not been fixed on the PS4 or XB1 consoles, I believe, because that patch to correct it is coming later than the patch that came and corrected the ability to do this in Novigrad on the PC version. As I understand it, this exploit is no longer possible on the PC, and I have not been able to find any seashells from the vendor who has the sausages hanging in back of him in the center of Novigrad. The "salad days" are over I think :(

This is another trick to see. 1.04. Eliminating the seller by shells Novigrad
Go to the port, there is a WHO merchant sells single bottles, and purchase merchandise at a great price
1) buy the bottles enter and leave the menu several times to continue shopping. A bottle costs a crown.
2) You sell your merchandise and tackle the merchant.
3) You stop talking to the merchant.
4) going to another merchant, and sell the bottles, a bottle of crown, and so recover your money Invested.

just nab every damn sword you can from chests and humans, had 50k by the end, all due to sword farming, sell em at the blacksmith for an extra profit

Oh, it's that (probably) bugged merchant who buys everything at full price. It's funny because he looks poor and sells empty bottles.

Anyway, I love that I've never really become a millionaire throughout the game (I'm just before the ending). I didn't loot every single guy for swords, just to sell them later, went with the flow doing quests, crafting and whatnot, but even now I have only 3k crowns I think.

In every other game I've played (previous Witcher games included), money ends up being meaningless towards the end of the game, and while you can certainly hoard a lot of it here as well, you won't become absurdly rich if you play 'normally'.

This is also the only guy who will buy crossbow bolts. Crossbow bolts have weight, and if you're not actually using them, it's better to sell them (I guess you could just drop them but I can't bring myself to drop stuff that has value.

I don't think it is bugged. (nor terribly useful as he has no money, so the depth of the "exploit" is mild at most). This is the infamous
Odrin, ex Kaedweni, ex Nilfgaardian Army, drunken sot, deserter and now successful bottle merchant.

Oh, I actually thought merchants regain their money over time.

They do, but he only has a few hundred at a time. It would be laborious at best to discard the bulk of a loot run's worth of goods, and he couldn't even afford to shift some of the more lucrative items at all.

Level 23 and have 29k the hard way. Money is decent to come by if you pick up everything and sell at dealers that give good prices.

Ofcourse you can. The exploit is buying all his bottles, exiting the trade window, buy all the bottles again, exit the trade window, rince and repeat until you've given the merchant thousands of orens.

At that point you sell your loot for maximum vendor price and slowly but steadily vendor all bottles (you buy them for 1 oren, sell them for 1 oren) to make the real profit. The majority of general merchants will want to purchase the bottles, but it does take some time because most have only 500-800 orens.

It is pretty exploity as you'll fetch 3x or 4x the usual price for all your goods, including trophies, bolts and the like.

You're right, I only use it to sell my merchandise, when my saddlebag is at maximum capacity, to collect best treasures, lest that can not pick up a good sword or armor. That is the meaning of this little trick. regards

Exactly why I wanted to explain in my previous comment. Thank for say better than me ;-)
