EE with old dialogues.

I don't know if this is the right place. however I seriously dislike the dialogues in EE. Is it possible to still play as EE and have all/most dialogues from the original. Thanks.Would it be as simple as copying dialogue folder from old version to EE version?

I know what you mean, and I have wondered the exact same thing -- the new voices just sound...robotic...

Too bad. Try playing with a different language.

Reverting voices/dialogues from EE to vanilla would be quite impossible to attain, since some bugfixes present in 1.3->EE(1.4) upgrade were present also in dialogue files. Therefore this could be leathal to game playability and could create blockers/unpredicted bugs, not mentioning the total collapse of new gesture system. :(Only way to actually do it, would be to extract all of the raw text from proper language layer in 1.3, export it and import to EE files without modyfing their other layers (i.e. emostate tags, dialogue camera shots, etc), then overwriting voices and praying, that most of them would have the same ID as the new ones. >_

If you can install the patch 1.4 without the language pack, I mean pass its checking or some file changed/updated before the 1.4patch, it is possible to skip the 1.4 language pack and keep use with old voice. For revert dialogues , dialogues00.bif seems is the key file, but I tried copy the 1.3 one to the EE version, it works with old dialogues, but side effect is it caused many descriptions of quest/ character....etc in the journal are error not found. Don't know if the English version has error or not.

The following should work, but you need to first have the v1.3 files keep.\Data\lang_3.key\Data\voices_3_00.bif\Data\dialogues00.bif To revert the old voice, copy the v1.3's following files to the v1.4.\Data\lang_3.key\Data\voices_3_00.bifAnd for the old dialogues, I tried this method, go to http://csimbi.googlepages.com/unbif download a tool call UnBIF 1.0 , First you should choose the right index *.key file, last time I choose main.key(I don't know it will be differ if differ version and language for you, anyway your target is to extract dialogues00.bif ) and extract the v1.3's \Data\dialogues00.bif , which will create a _dialogues00 folder with many files, copy this folder to the v1.4 's \Data\, the dialogues should work and with no errors in Journal.

Just test a few more, I found there are still some errors on the Journal if use the file replace method of revert old voice, so we need use the extract method :Keep the following v1.3 files:\Data\lang_3.key\Data\voices_3_00.bifWe should use UnBIF 1.0 -> choose index lang_3.key -> extract voices_3_00.bif, it will create a folder "_voices_3_00" , put it to the 1.4 \Data\ . The game will auto load the folder.

I have the EE, and the original game. I really prefer the original subtitles to the EE's. I have already gotten the original game's voices in an override folder, but what do I have to do for the matching subtitles? It's very distracting, seeing the wrong words matching the dialogue. Thanks!

Was it deleted? I don't understand why it would be. It's not against the rules to talk about subtitles, is it?

Already said, you need the tool to extract the old dialogues of 1.3's -> copy to other directory ->then patch to 1.4(or uninstall 1.3 then installEE)-> copy the 1.3's extracted folder to the 1.4(EE) game directory., and aviod to backup your old files(if you have any) in the orignal \Data\ , otherwise the game may load them back misstakely.
And for the old dialogues, I tried this method, go to http://csimbi.googlepages.com/unbif download a tool call UnBIF 1.0 , First you should choose the right index *.key file, last time I choose main.key(I don't know it will be differ if differ version and language for you, anyway your target is to extract dialogues00.bif ) and extract the v1.3's \Data\dialogues00.bif , which will create a _dialogues00 folder with many files, copy this folder to the v1.4 's \Data\,

EE should be same as 1.4.

Somehow I lost these files somewhere along the way. There is just an "ERROR" and some more words I don't recall for all my journal entries, and the beginning game tutorial boxes are blank. It's not a major deal, but I do like reading all that. Anyone have any idea how to restore them?I know this is a very old thread, but I have another issue, and I am posting it here because I am sure it is a related issue and this thread should help explain the backstory.Anyway, my EE game has no journal entries in it. All the journal listings and anything in that menu just say "ERROR" and "unable to locate (name)"Any help with recovering them?[MOD]post your problems into one single thread[/MOD]

I don't know if either of those will work, I am almost positive the issue was caused by some fooling around I did to bring the old version's voice acting and subtitles (and as a result, the in-game text and item descriptions) into the EE. I will try the first one, but since I will just readd the old game's voice acting if I were to uninstall it, I don't see the benefit there. People would know this if my other topic on the issue wasn't deleted.I tried the save game deleting one, and nothing was fixed. The quests show up all right in the journal, but everything else is a "MISSING". Certainly there are files I am missing that I can just add in instead of reloading everything.

the original dialogs ( both voiced and text ) are implemented in the Enhanced Edition where all the languages are equally complete i don't understand what you try to do by mixing incompatible game files between game versions :dead:your posts were moved to a single thread that contains this problem

mostly old voices, and some new ones for the extra text ( i've called it "original" meaning original polish scripts/text; since the UK/US versions had a cut up version of the voices and of the text in the original release and now in the Enhanced Edition all the languages have the same scripts/voices )anyway, this mod that you try to build will not work and it's not supported, read this (again): http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=20886.msg466841#msg466841you can either install version 1.0 of the game if you bought the non Enhanced game before Sep 2008 and update to version 1.3 only ( not 1.4/1.5 ) and miss all the other Enhanced features and you need the disk in drive all the time, etcor you can't do anything if you bought the game after Sep 2008 and you got the Enhanced Edition
