If you can find something that says he still has his reproductive organs or that he and Deunan are lovers, great! It's been years and I can't clearly recall. Pretty sure Shirow left it ambiguous at best.

im dowloading it now,fast question; is it really cool as i hope is gonna be,or is so and so hollywood crap?
Because on imdb and metascore don't think really high of it.
Is not that they have been really good recently,but still they have good points.

I dunno. Appleseed has not done well as Anime. I haven't seen this one yet.

I suppose they are either cultured biotech or otherwise manufactured, but it seems he has them and they need him to maintain a stable body temperature not to damage them. Maybe "reproductive" is a misnomer, maybe they should have been called (in Databook) "recreational organs" XD. Shirow's work and adaptations touch so much on how lame cyborg life would be without them that it would be an oddity for Briareos not to be "fully equipped". What I don't know is how official is that "his large sensor in the middle is actually his nose" thing. It isn't referenced in the Databook, and Hypernotes was never edited in my country. I think I remember seeing a picture of Briareos with notes in Japanese somewhere in http://shirowledge.sblo.jp/ and one could be pointing to this "nose lens", but as I don't know Japanese...

I've read through those modules, they're great.

Haven't seen more than two episodes of XIII, as I couldn't find fansubs whether they were integrated or raws plus subs further from there. I also think Appleseed hasn't got the adaptation it deserves, but I squeed at the little nods and easter eggs the series had: clothing ripped straight out of the manga, Briareos' bike... I wish it got the SAC treatment and they didn't limit themselves to like 6 classic characters + originals. Appleseed had too large a cast of fan favorites for that.

Edit: I was reading a summary of Shirow talking about how Appleseed is seen as the more simplistic cliched work compared to GitS, for example. I don't know if I agree. I'd say it's accurate that GiTS goes deeper in some ways, but it also is much less broad. GitS looks at humans and technology and a certain amount of politics, whereas Appleseed looks at how tech and cultural shift sweep across society and change what it is to be human completely.

I love them, but I think Deunan and Briareos focussed things a little narrowly. He got away from that later.

I also think both GitS and Appleseed did a better job of examining these issues than Elysium. Ooh! topic!

I just saw Elysium from DVD (I don't much go to see movies at theaters these days) and to me it was pure cyberpunk goodness from the start to the very ending.

Just for example I thought that it might be fun to compile characters of the movie and assign at least roles for them.
