In my opinion choosing the empress ending will allow a lot more people have the ability to try and manipulate ciri. in the game she is a trusty person a woman is a bit naive, in my opinion the court schemes will be an overload for her. The only person who didn't tried to manipulate her was geralt. i think she will have the ability to do a lot more good as a wicheress, with the ability to set things right in the background(if she wish to do so).

I prefer the Witcher ending, but I felt like the punchline where she pulls out the sword and then end-logo felt out of tone for an epilogue and for the feelings I was personally going through. I had way too many questions to feel that "hell yeah" kind of ending.

I think the witcher ending is the best, she becomes her own woman and decides her path, she also liked to live live on the road she expresses that many times within the game.

---------- Updated at 03:47 AM ----------

Even the witcher ending is the only one with happy music lol.

she actually sees herself as a witcheress in the books anyway, so yeah that is the "right" path.

The game calls her a witcher, There's no female form, it's like soldier.

"Soon word of the ashen-haired witcheress had spread throughout the North, from the Yaruga to the mountains of Kovir." -from the epilogue slides

Single exception, every other time it's the word witcher. Geralt himself calls hers a witcher.

Empress ending is probably the best for the people as a whole, even if it isn't Ciri's preferred choice. The ending makes it pretty clear she's to be an excellent ruler.

witcher is a neologism, (like the original wiedzmin is in polish) and there is actually some debate what translation would be the best ("Hexer" was initally preferred by Sapkowski) but warlock and spellmaker have also been used.
As far as i know there is a female term of wiedzmin in the polish language (though i couldn't find it) so it makes sense to give witcher a female version too.

I think it was pretty obvious what choice she wanted. Just look at her body language and demeanor when she leaves to become the Empress and contrast that with her behavior when she decides to walk the Path.

Now whether or not this is the best decision for the realm or what not is a different topic all together. We are, after all, the player viewing this story through a somewhat omniscient lens even if we are only confined to controlling Geralt and Ciri, though to a much lesser extent. It's interesting because you can see that each of the characters have their own default perspectives, but we, as the players, have the ultimate vote in what they will do...so it really boils down to a matter of choice for the player: do you want to decide based on what you would think the character would want? Or do you decide based on what you, as the player, feel is right?

I have doubt. Yes she will be more happy if she become witcher, but in her heart she care for greater good.
In empress ending she mention if she want to save more life, she must become ruler who stop conflict instead of just slaying monster.
And the epilogue mention she has the heart of simple folk, which means she will not only care for greater good but also care for each and everyone.
Combine these two traits with her power, she will become a good ruler who will not easily defeat by enemies.

no not really, and there is no point in the game were she cares about the greater good.
She cares about the people close to her, and she wants to be left alone. No longer be chased and used for what she is. Even her supposed sacrifice at the end (which is lorewise kinda bullshit), is done because she wants to end it (being on the run all the time) rather then just doing something good.

And there I thought "Witcher" was the male form of "Witch". But what do I know of the English language. (not my native one...)

the male version of a witch would be more like Warlock.

Well, in Polish it's more like, "The Witchman."

But that sounds silly in English.

Exactly my point. "Witcher" is a (made up) male version of "Witch".
Also fits very much with the german versions: Hexe (= witch) and Hexer (= Witcher).

Which is why it gets ridiculous as they say the technical term for Ciri is Witcheress.

In polish:

Wiedźma - Witch
Wiedźmin - Witcher
Wiedźminka (Ciri being the only one ever) - Witcheress... hmm

For me Empress ending isn't that good. Don't forget that from beggining, almost everybody wants Ciri on that throne (even in books) and none have hers or greater good on their mind. Quite surpised I didn't see anybody mention it yet.
