Trust me, after 2 there was no one more excited about the game than I was... and after the first 20 minutes I thought the game was going to blow my mind.... then the pro wrestlers come out, and the furries and guys in cat heads, and it just gets more and more fucktarded after that...

Of all the customisation ssytems I have seen, Ghost Recon: Future Warrior get's my 10/10

(Watch from 2:30)

I think this 'form' of customisation is perfect. You can select your weapon from a visually represented list and then when you want it customised, you get an exploded view in 'Gunsmith'. You can switch out a massive variety of parts, (which apparently come in at over 20 million individual weapon combinations. 20 MILLION!!!)

I like the APB:R/Army of Two visual customisation for gear and vehicles. If we can achieve this with Hard Armour, Vehicles and Weapon skins, I will be really, really happy.

(Pity the guy isn't very talented or patient, he could have got much better results.)

Now, if we went to a terminal in a shop or a fixers datapad, we could look at this sort of menu screen. Either way, we could customise our gear this way in a virtual environment, (which could possibly be unique to the supplier based on their background, crisp and clean for corportes, flashy and glitchy for back alley fixers, that would be a nice twist on it,) and have the supplier do the work, for a fee, and pick up the equipment when the work is done, (or even get them to deliver it for a higher fee.)

Now I am not suggesting that every supplier should have this facility. Perhaps we should go to specialists for it. But I do want to be able to get the equipment to do it myself, in my safehouse, when I have the means.

The customisation options should also change depending on what resources that are available to us, either from the supplier or from ourselves. The work should also take a variable amount of time, dependant on what needs to be done and wether the resources are on hand or if they have to be procured. I don't like instant upgrading. I think it was a big let down in games like Skyrim where I can apparently make a full suit of armour in under a second.

Well, now we all agree that SR3 leaves a lot to be desired, how about chatting a little about Armour and Weapon Customisation methods.

I really like the mask customization system. But like you pointed out, it is way too limiting. I would like to see same system work for armors as well. I think this, combined with an armor upgrade system similar to the one "Mars War Logs" (And when i say similar, i mean better and more complex) would work out really well. So great find.

And when it comes to weapon customization, i like how detailed it is, but it feels off somehow. (Maybe it just needs a special touch that Cyberpunk games have. You know what i mean.)

Also, i really like your idea about upgrading weapons and armors in safehouse. I hope we will have modification benches in our safehouses like ME3. I would much rather my weapons didn't float and took itself apart like that... Creepy.. :D

It isn't actually very limited. there are loads of patterns and shapes to use. The numpty who made the viedo was just really lazy. But I do want to see these sorts of options for armour and clothing customisation. (Imagine, Swag Armour!)

I'm not actually sure I do know what you mean. I know I had the image of a Virtual Enviroment to do all this customisation in. Kind of a Tron inspired one. Is that what's missing?

This is a must for me. I always play a techie/engineer/mechanic/smith in every game I am able to. I love crafting. Howeer, I don't ecpecet to be building everything in our safehouses from the word go. Obviously we will have to work up to that stage. But I really want the option of being able to do so further into the game.

I really liked the exploded view personally. I think that if it is view as part of a VR modification interface it could work well. Even if it was a wirefarme, stylised or simplified view I would be fine with it. Even a 'blueprint' view.

Ideally, I would love to build weapons from scratch.

If by some miracle we can have a means to create weapons from scratch, I would be all over it. However, I have a feeling that will be down to modding, if at all.

When i said limiting, i meant in the way that it didn't allow you to customize your armor or clothing. Also, i would like to customize my gear beyond adding shapes to it. Also, Woah! You have opened whole new possibilities! SWAG ARMOR! :D This should be in the game!

You see, even though you are not sure what i meant, you know what i meant. It shouldn't be some kind of 'magical weapon upgrade place', something like a virtual environment would suit cyberpunk better.

Now, i love the blueprint view idea. (Would work well with the virtual upgrade environment idea) And i do hope we can create some special weapons from scratch. (I do miss Rock-it launcher from Fallout 3. And Railway Rifle! How i loved to nail people and creatures to the wall with it. CP77 could not fail with a crafting system like that.)

Let the player upgrade AND downgrade weapons!

I would like to revert back to Level 2 or Level 3 of a weapon every now and again. Also this serves as a fallback if the player is unsatisfied with a certain upgrade.

I want to be able to put on the upgrades and take the upgrades off at required WORK BENCH / GUN STASH

Not bad.. It is an awkward design but not a bad one.. It kinda reminds me of this:

I for one want to totally avoid the 'level' type crap of weapon upgrades. All modifications should be removable. Some with tools, (like swapping a stock,) some without, (ike swapping a scope,) and some with a proper workstation, (like teaking the gas flow.)

Oh and NO 'DAMAGE' upgrades. I thought that was stupid in Deus Ex. As if some little universal kit will make a wepon more potent.

Damage upgrades are associated with ammo types and barrel lengths and so forth. I want damage upgrades.

Amen to all of this. Damage upgrades are ridiculous. The only way you get that is with either specialized ammo, or by upgrading the weapon to fire a larger round (not counting electrothermal enhancement, which can only be used on cased weapons with a ROF of 1). But there are limits to that as well, so without knowing how in depth they plan to get in weapon and ammo variety, I would rather they focus on something else.

I will say that stocks, fore grips, barrel shrouds, etc... should all be removable, and removing them should change the concealability of the weapon, as well as drop it's accuracy significantly.

Am I the only one who really hates how extended mags look in handguns... it just ruins the shape of the weapon.

Extended mags are awesome, nice upgrade!

If you were making a game and needed weapon upgrades for your players wouldn't extended mags with more ammo be a logical choice?

In case some got stuck on the word Logical

:)

The right tool for the right situation. If you want to keep the weapon concealed, then extended mags would be a stupid addition, as would barrel extensions. Extended mags can also cause feed issues, not to mention that on some weapons an extended mag can interfere with how the shooter operates the charging handle and bolt catch.

But Wisdom asked an aesthetic question, not a practicallity question.

Yup... it's just one of those things, extended mags just tend to look... clunky to me...
It's purely an aesthetic objection... preference for style...

Or it can be summed up by me just having a subscriptions worth of issues...

I don't know.. As long as magazine designed to fit the pistol, it could look nice enough.

At least better than it normally would have.

Anyway, i would enhance/upgrade my full auto pistols like this:

Just because i can.

On a related note, has anyone had any real life experience with these Surefire or Magpul High Capacity Magazines? I'm curious if anyone has noticed an increase in feed issues or other problems with them...

This is a good example of some of the customisation I would like to see available in 2077.

I would like to have the option of dropiing the standard lower reciever from a rifle in favour of a pure pistol grip. Ok, accuracy and recoil will probably become issues, but the concealability would be greatly increased.

And these shrouds are awesome!

Pure eye candy, but hey...

And this is THE colour I would love to have available for standard paint jobs.

Of course, this is an awesome paintjob too, though I would expect to pay well for it in game.
