I started over simply because I wanted to see the new content.Besides my previous saves are still there so I can 'fast foward' if I want.

I simply moved all the game save files out of the save folder and started a new game, in this way if I got through half of the prologue and started pulling my hair out and running around the house like a wild cat screaming "I CAN'T DO THIS ONE MORE TIME", then I would still have my saved games to put back in the save game folder and continue on where I left off. That's the more technical aspect of it, but for the personal preference I'd say your so early into the game that it's probably not worth starting over again unless you really want to. Maybe wait until your finished and then start over again if you still have the desire to would be my opinion.

Hi!I just bought the new Enhanced edition from Steam. I would like to know if someone heard if there's a way to receive the real box content, not only in a virtual state. Exemple: the map paper version and the game guide paper version, the 2 audios CD... It would be great not only for Steam buyer but also for people who made the upgrade. Thanks!

If you would like the content in physical shape, you will need to buy the EE. The download versions only contain the digital versions.

The novel isn't included in the download version. You'd need to buy either: A) the boxed version of EE, or B) Even better, buy the novel "The Last Wish" which has the chapter that comes with the EE box as well as all the other short stories about Geralt.I recommend buying the book as it's a great read (I finished it recently.)

Ok, i think i will follow your advice. Soon i will finish The Elric of Melnibonea series so i will check after for the adventure of Geralt. Look to be a bit in the same style and i will surely love it. ;D

The game still makes a ton of quicksaves rather then saving over say 2 or 4 quicksaves, I would have expected this to change at the least but it was not. One of the biggest problems the game had.

I just keep one manual save that I always save over, and my sister does this too. It's how we tell each other's games a part easily without looking at times and such. ( less necessary now that I'm lightyears ahead of her in the game, but still)As for the autosaves, it does only keep like 4 or 5 which I guess is useful if you want to backtrack a bit more.

actually, I'm probably on the side of the billion auto-saves. I like to do manual saves at key points in my play (I'd hate to have to go back and fight THAT battle again type saves), but having saves is a blessing. I'm playing also Titan's Quest right now, its a fun game, but OMG, you can save wherever, but you only restart at certain points in the game. so unless you commit hours, you have to replay the whole map, same fihghts, because you can't just save and restart where you are standing at the moment you quit. Hellgate London did the same thing. Totally aggravating. I'm fine to have to go in and delete 5000 unneeded saves. I'm grateful for the three in there out of that 5000 that I really needed.

im actually surprised at times at the points these auto saves occur. first time through i came to the beast battle - i was not well prepared and it took me 5 tries to beat it - a couple in which Abilgail died i restarted. anyway i just couldnt believe i had to go through all of the dialogue leading up to this battle everytime i had to restart - one of the very few gripes i have with this great game.

Hey, I'm considering buying the witcher EE retail, but I have one question first that needs answering. The question is, is there a limit to the number of installs you can do or a limit to the number of hardware configurations you can install on. The reason I ask this is I am hesitant to buy anything right now because of all this install limit crap through the DRM on recent games. I have no problem if there is something like a cd key check or a cd rom in drive check, but I do have a problem with the install limit policy that seems to be going around lately, and I am not willing to buy a game that is going to not install sometime down the road because i installed it too many times or upgraded my comp too many times.thanks in advance,th3flyboy

The people at CDPR treat their players well, and there's no install limit crap for The Witcher.

Yeah, a lot of game companies are getting pretty crazy with their copy-protection stuff. I was really looking forward to Spore, but when I found out about the install limit, SecureRom, and all that crap, I decided that I could do without it. I think the harsh copy protection stuff that most of the game companies are doing now is going to increase piracy, as more and more customers get tired of being treated like criminals. But CD Projekt Red doesn't do that -- not only do they not have copy protection that eats your computer, but they gave away the upgrades from the Enhanced Edition FOR FREE to anybody who bought the original edition. These folks know how to treat a customer, and now they have a band of fanatically loyal players. You'd think the other companies might notice this and get a clue....

I agree with your theory on the DRM now starting to INCREASE piracy, as I have been saying stuff like that for a long time, ah well, next chance i get to go out i'm gonna hit up gamestop and see if they got any copies in stock... I personally believe that one way to wake them up to the evils of the level of drm that is going on now, is to buy the stuff with no or less intrusive DRM and not buy that crap with install limits. I too was looking forward to spore, and even C&C RA3, but they screwed the pooch on those with that install limit crap. My personal belief is that if they really want to kill piracy, they need to team up with valve and steam, and allow the owners of the games to activate their cd keys on steam, and have the steam version have no drm except steam itself, then there is some drm, very effective drm at that, and yet it isn't that intrusive. I had a feeling the answer was going to be that there was little to no DRM on the witcher EE because of what cd projekt has been doing with gog.com, and I'm glad to see that their policy of no drm (or at max very little drm) is carrying over to the witcher.

i don't get it, NOW you can DISABLE Autosaving in the game MENU, why don't you do that if you find it annoying?
