Hey guys,I have uninstalled Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, run the patch again and everything went fine. The patch is now installed, and the installation took about 35 to 40 minutes. So yeah, that was the firewall (?) issue.Bear in mind that disabling or exiting Kasperski did nothing, I had to UNINSTALL it completely.

Yeah I have Kaspersky 2009 as well, but there's no way in hell I'm uninstalling it. You'd have to re-train it again with all your apps!Ridiculous situation tbh.

ps. the bonus content and new adventure is yet another 1.3 gigs ( total ) so I do not want to download those right now. Can they be downloaded and installed later ( after ) the patch? or just with it?

Good to hear that you got it working, it does really make a nice game even nicer ;D But it is really odd that we have to uninstall and not just exit our firewalls (mine is Comodo)

To moderator - it's not wrong forum, it's not an excuse - I dont have to excuse anybody for my money - I am just piss off with this stupid error with the patch. I earn my money with honest labor and do not wont to be fularound from nobody. Just want to find solution for this and to justify my given money and the time spend on net to download 2gb of mistakes.Thank you for your time.

If you want to be treated with respect, treat others the same. The Enhanced Edition is free for game owners, BTW.what known fixes did you try?did you try to re-download the files?did you compare the MD5 sums to those known as correct mentioned in this thread?

I downloaded the right files (I earn for living using computer for 15 years - PC, Mac, SiliconStation (Indigo)) so I do not think that I am blind what files to download. I hope that someone from developers would post qualified answer to solution!

I have 32-bit Windows XP Service Pack 3 and successfully installed the EE patch. The error you got appears to happen when the download is incomplete. I had to use a download manager to successfully download the patch from sciagnij.pl (it reconnected 19 times during the download).

Nobody is going to reply, I've made two threads about this. Well here's the faq's help. http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/www/ee_update_faq.html"Q: The Patch installation process is not responding. Has my PC crashed?A: The process of “modifying game files” can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on your operating system and hardware (it runs faster on Windows Vista). Throughout the installation process, Task Manager will show its status as “Not responding.” That’s absolutely normal. Do not end the task or the process. Aborting the process will damage the installed game and necessitate reinstallation of both the game and the patch."It's sad, but you might have to wait a little longer. I waited for...5 hours.. aborted it before I read the faq (doh >-

>setupnew\setup.cpp (135)PAPP:pVENDOR:pGUID:$@Windows XP Service pack 2 (2600) Non IE/Netscape 11.0Fast answer uninstall any antivirus completely if only disabled security checks will still run in the background. When complete, re-install antivirus.**EditI believe >setupnew\setup.cpp (135) is basically the same error as >setupnew\setup.cpp (138)Having exhausted all other measures.. this was the only fix which enabled installation of patch 1.4

After trying all day, I am still unable to install the patch.I have :Uninstalled and reinstalled from DVD between patch attempts.Run a reg cleaner and deleted the 'installed to' directory between patch attempts.Removed all the files from the temp directoryTried downloads from several different sites.Original version, and patched to 1.3 run fine.Copied the patch files (both twee_upgrade.exe and twee_english_language_pack.exe) to the install directory after reinstalling the original versionI am getting the 'feature transfer error', Feature : censored, catastrophic error.I have trying to install on Windows XP, SP3.I have no firewall installed (except that which comes with Windows, and that has been disabled), and so, cannot uninstall it.I have uninstalled my anti virus and anti virus programs and restarted. My latest attempt has been to use file from the witcher site. It is the 5th file I downloaded.I have tried disconnecting from the internet after doing the online registration.I have right clicked on the file, gone into properties and made sure that I unblocked it.I am the only user on the system, and am admin. Is there anything I have missed? Except whatever it is that preventing me from being able to install? If so, what have I missed. If not, any ideas what I should try next?I am in the US, and (I believe) am running the US version.Additional note : I *AM* on a router connected to a cable modem. Any ideas as to maybe this is the issue? If so, how would I go about disabling whatever is preventing me from updating?Additional additional note : not the router, I bypassed it and connected directly to the cable modem.I am SO out of ideas.

Yes it is ridiculous, but what can you do? The game is working on my side but I really hope they will fix it soon. We just shouldn't be doing some dancing at midnight during rain or something to make it work.

I'm also happy, but again, they need to fix this asap. At least we pinpointed that antiviruses/firewalls are causing this error. That is a start ::)

I have done much of the same as the above and still receive the Feature : censored, catastrophic error. Uninstalling my anti virus and disabling Windows Firewall did not work. I have also tried numerous downloads of it from different locations, and eventually did the slow sciagnij one and still receive the error.Might I ask if you installed it on a separate partition or drive than the one Windows is installed in? I do that, and sometimes it is a source of errors for me when installing other things, however I didn't have any problem with the original install of the game so I doubt that's the problem.I have the U.S. version of the game.

I guess I'll have to make a new post since the one that was yesterday was moved or deleted. :-\During the install, it gets past activation and then tries to install and gets stuck at the first file (C:\Program Files\The Witcher\Data\localized.key and gives this errorFeature transfer errorFeature: CensoredComponent:File:Error: Catastrophic failureI've tried a fresh install, downloads from multiple sites and nothing. Once the install fails I can't launch the game anymore. Anybody know the fix?

So, any heads up on: what the Unable to Connect to Server error is about (there was a In-game Tech post by someone asking about this that seems to have vanished since I read it about twelve hours ago); if it's about the server being hammered, any idea on when people will be able to connect to verify the registration.Considering how I've noticed significant load times on the site, it does seem likely that that's the issue. If any fix involves in any way, shape, or form the deletion and re-installation of my firewall or virus scan in order to facilitate the installation process, my answer is a resounding no and the prompt scrapping of any plans I have to play the EE. It's as simple, and as plain, as that. I feel the need to get that one fact out there.

Hmmm... Well, I give up. I've been trying to make it work for hours and it's really growing old. I guess I'll just wait for an official resolution. :wall:

The 'unable to connect to server' is either the server is down (about a zillion people are trying to connect to it), or you don't have an active internet connection going on.

There is a problem with that statement. I'll leave it to you to figure it out.

I am getting the exact same problem. Where did you get your game from? I got mine off eBay, I wonder if it is a problem with my copy?
