Do you get a specific error message, before or just when it crashes?

Hi, I just get the standard windows box saying the game has an error and needs to close and do I want to report the fault etc. Windows XP, SP3. I had no problems with the game at all prior to the EE patch.

Did you try uninstalling and re-installing game and patch second time around. This worked for me. DO NOT run any thing else in between this process--no defrag or reg cleans etc. And, make sure all other user based processes are turned off except explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe

Hey guys, i recently found out about the EE and i downloaded the patches. I then ran them all from one directory, yadda yadda yadda. The problem was i didnt know the updater stopped responding half way through and that it was actually ment to do that. I then cancelled it and now every time i go to install the patch i get the message C:\Program Files\The witchers\TWEE.exe 0x5 access is denied. ive reinstalled the game about 4 times and no luck. PLEASE HELP!

Hello.I bought the EE version of this game just recently at a local store here in Norway. Now I'm trying to install, but I'm getting told I don't have enough space available to install the game. Despite the target disk having 26+GB free. I'm a bit stumped by this, so any help would be appreciated. I do not know whether it is relevant, but I have windows on it's own disk, which is admittedly somewhat full. I have, for this reason, changed the various temporary directory environment variables to point to other directories on another drive (the same one I'm trying to install to). Is there any minimum required space needed on the OS disk itself? If there is any other information required, I'll be happy to post it if I can.

U.S. version. Vista 32. Online part works fine, it recognizes the registration. Trying to install the upgrade 1.4 it says I need the language pack. Trying to install the language pack it says I need the 1.4 upgrade. Nice big circle. WTF is up.

Q: I’ve downloaded the language packs/additional adventures, but the installer fails to detect them.A: Make sure that all downloaded files are located in a single source directory and that they all have their original names.

I am trying to install the 1.4 patch and language pack. It says failed censored catastrophic (sp) failure and quits the install. What do I do now. Also is the old version patched to 1.4 considered the EE? for troubleshooting purposes assuming I will eventually get the 1.4 patch installed.U.S. version Vista 32 run as admin.

I believe the bolded part more or less answers this. I found two user-specific and two OS specific environment variables that I pointed to other places, though it's quite possible I've missed one (or more). I can of course attempt to free up some space, though it is getting difficult at this point. I should perhaps have added that the OS disk I referred to in my first post is in fact C:. Edit: This did indeed fix the installation problem, but it created a new one which I'll have to solve somehow (not your problem, though). What really boggles me is why it needs to install data files to the Documents and Settings directories when it already has a perfectly suitable install-location for precisely these kind of files. This is rather disappointing.

Going out on a limb here... Did you uncensor your U.S. version? If so, did you save the original files in a safe place? If so, try putting the original files back in there proper place and run the patch again.

I'm really confused. I registered the game, downloaded the patch, figuring that I needed to download 1.4 (The Enhanced Edition, right?) then the language pack. It said it doesn't match up with my language pack, and now I'm now I'm downloading the English Language Patch, which I thought you had to install after the 1.4 patch. It's half the size. I thought this because it's "step 2." What the hell? Can someone give me some instructions?

Thanks for your help, it is amazing what you can acomplish if you read correctly rather than quickly. A two part patch that must be executed in the same directory as the game is unusual. I have installed 100's of patches and never ran across this combination. Most just click and execute from a "game/patches" directory and don't have to be moved to the game directories, much less to files at once. Like I said thanks for the putting up with us non reading fools. I played through the old version when it first came out hope 1.4 is better. The old version was great. You don't happen to know where I can get the files that circumvented the censorded portions perhaps? I seem to have forgotten where I found those files, This is a new computer so a new install as well.
