I'm wondering why there's an 18 page thread about installing a patch.Why does this have to be so complicated?For the love of god, put something in the launcher that'll patch the game.
It's this complicated because of the things you have on your computer that are NOT The Witcher. If you had only your operating system and The Witcher, there'd be no trouble, but most people have considerably more than that on their computers.webbear1000 said:

Alright, here's MY situation... I recently got Windows 7 and just bought a Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB Sound Card. Well, here's my problem... when I tried to run the game, it didn't want to let me select an EAX selection, so I tinkered with my X-Fi's drivers, and when I tried to make it run again, it said something about needing a program so I installed that again, thinking that would solve the problem. It didn't. So I tried to reinstall the update to 1.4 and I got a weird message telling me that it wasn't the format I registered with. Help! I bought the game legally and downloaded the update legally... why is it doing this? I'd really hate to pitch the game... I already lost my information once and I really don't want to have to ditch my entire directory just to make the darn thing run. Is there any way I can fix this? Also, are there up-to-date 7 EAX files for games yet? Maybe that would fix the problem? I'm really in a bind here. I don't have a Fatali1y, but will their EAX files work with my X-Fi regardless? Yeah, but it still doesn't help...
