Well that flew like a lead balloon after re-registering the game (PIA) it comes back with the same exact 'feature censored/catastrophic failure' song&dance. I'm starting to resent how good the game is because of the frustration it's causing me and my reluctance to just trash it. LK, I have an idea I'm getting an international version on d/l that I'm tryint to patch to my USA (censored) version. Can you link me to a site where I can d/l an official USA patch to be sure I have the right one? Thanks.Stanley
OK I've done everything suggested run in administrator/safe mode, disabled AV software, updated .NET files, at least half a dozen different d/ls of patchs if there's no more/other ideas, I'm calling it a washout. I guess I have no real claim to complain as I got the original program bundled in my video card, but it's a shame. I have to believe this patch is different from the retail version. The large percentage of people having problems with updating the game would certainly create repercussions that would be flooding the net and everywhere else. Why not creat a site with the entire game (already including the EE update) available for people like me who simply cannot run the patch? Yes, it would take ages to d/l but it seems there is no other solution that works. Very disappointing. And yes, I know I didn't spend a dime (directly) for the original game so why am I whining and not just going ahead and spending the $40 USD to buy the retail? Because I have no guarantee that it will work any better...then I'm stuck with software that I cant return for a refund. And I'm geeky enough to be bothered by the fact that no matter what I do, I cant get this %^**((&% patch to run. Still open to ideas, but get the entire game on a d/l so the biggest problem we need to deal with is the time involved I can't be the only one who can't get this to work. GRRRR!

Bought the Enhanced Edition at Game Stop to upgrade my current Witcher game. After finally registering the game online which the patch said I had to do I made these attempts to install: A) simply putting the Enhanced Edition into my DVD drive (as the instructions suggest) and looking for the install button (which isn't there) After trying to launch the game it says to "insert The Witcher DVD". Bonus DVD is nothing more than bonus materials or course and putting the regular Witcher game in simply takes me to I left off, no upgrade. B) Downloading the patches online which first said I had to purchase the Enhanced Edition which I already had, once I registered the patches confirmed this and resumed their downloads. But the Game patch wouldn't install completely because it said I needed to install the language pack. Tried that, language pack wouldn't install without the Enhanced Edition being installed. WTH?! And of course I cannot find the simple link anywhere for the official tech support. I hope someone can help me out here. Please.

If it won't install in safe mode, or when the particular programs are closed or even killed, then I don't see how they would work when they are no longer prevalent. Also, as far as I can tell, no one else has had success with these methods. Lastly, this seems to be the prevalent error, and it would be helpful if people who simply hadn't run "register.exe" would quit posting in this thread as your symptoms/solutions are the first entry in the 1.4 troubleshooting faq.
