But CDPR stated that the current renderer cannot produce image based lighting, the dynamic lighting with the soft shadows, as the other renderer did.beside a few things the engine still has most of lighting tech that you saw in the trailers

DAMN RIGHT!∫This is like the night before Christmas, but ten thousand times worse waiting for dat one present.
Yes, the 35 minute gameplay is on the old but actually newer renderer than the one we have now. So is the entirety of the SOD trailer. You haven't noticed ?i was talking about the 2014 footage
i dont think that they used IBL in the 35mn demo ( maybe the older trailers ), its the same rendering engine just set up in a different way, with very different colorgrading and more detailed assets, but thats just my opinion , i might be completely wrongYes, the 35 minute gameplay is on the old but actually newer renderer than the one we have now. yes, you're correct. it's the same rendering version set in a different way, nothing more, and your experiments since the launch of TW3 prooves it.i dont think that they used IBL in the 35mn demo ( maybe the older trailers ), its the same rendering engine just set up in a different way, with very different colorgrading and more detailed assets, but thats just my opinion , i might be completely wrong
It's not a matter of opinion, Marcin Iwinski admitted it in the recent eurogamer article. But even if he hadn't, the differences in the lighting are obvious. The lighting in the 35min gameplay is the same as in the VGX(0:56) and SOD(1:18) trailer when the camera passes over Novigrad.its the same rendering engine just set up in a different way, with very different colorgrading and more detailed assets, but thats just my opinion
I believe the rendering engine was changed after VGX, haven't read anything about it being changed after the 35 minute demo/Sword of Destiny trailer. The rendering engine was changed after E3 and this because, as they stated, it couldn't handle the united pieces of the open world.

Badowski said:Maybe it was our bad decision to change the rendering system," he mulls, "because the rendering system after VGX was changed." There were two possible rendering systems but one won out because it looked nicer across the whole world, in daytime and at night. The other would have required lots of dynamic lighting "and with such a huge world simply didn't work".
If you go by that quote then it's clear they have completely evaded the issue of why the game looks worse than the 2014 gameplay video which as I take it was captured on that "rendering system that looked nicer across the board".Originally Posted by A. Badowski

You know, all that speculations could be put to rest if only CDPR unlocked those other environmental variables. Then we'd see what could really be done with the current renderer. I mean look at the work essenthy is doing. He's just one guy and already he's managing to bring back the 2014 look of the game even with all this limitations in place. Imagine what he (And potentially other modders) could do if those other files were unlocked. If you go by that quote then it's clear they have completely evaded the issue of why the game looks worse than the 2014 gameplay video which as I take it was captured on that "rendering system that looked nicer across the board".
Agree 100% with you there. The problem is the "MODS" which will release with that Redkit is not actually mods but what had to be in game when game released. For me game is not only story. I am not reading a book. The graphics and atmosphere (it is good now too but I need that lighting in trailers) is not less important for me.
But will play a bit of a Devil's advocate on this one - Mad Max is not a great comparison about the lack of a graphical downgrade because there's nothing to downgrade really, there are no beautiful or different looking vistas, no foliage etc. When I first saw the 4 minute trailer it didn't wow me like the Witcher did.Look at Mad Max. Absolutely "0" downgrade. The only game after may be 5 year not downgraded.
